🛡 I would like to endorse a Territorial War 🛡

In a similar thread like @LargeBanana

:shield: I would like to endorse a “Territorial War”. :shield:

Most users are familiar with GvG scenario which are often a castle siege that involve mostly breaking through a choke point battle and destroying a key structure inside the enemy keep.

The territorial war I am endorsing has more to do with skirmish battles than breakthrough battles. The jist of a Territorial war is capturing territories for your guild. These territories comprises of almost all the non instance maps outside of a city/town. The more territories a guild captures the more prizes and higher guild buff they get. A system like this existed in an old IMC game called Colony War.

why a Territorial battle?

  1. As you know ToS can only handle 100 players in a single channel. Unlike a traditional castle siege, a territorial war will force players to spread the player population across multiple locations, instead of focusing combat on few locations. Also with limited players population inside a single channel, this becomes a part of a strategy. Though this number can be tweaked for such a scenario.

  2. Since maps are designed differently with multiple entry points and some classes even allowing teleportation, the is less chance for a choke point battle and most often result into tactical skirmishes and guerrilla tactics and whatever creative strategies a player can employ.

  3. ToS has over 200+? and counting maps where battle guilds can compete in capturing territories.

  4. the classes in ToS reflect the characters in IMC’s previous game which skill design revolves around this territorial battles.

  5. Territorial battles would spark the most favorite event in all of MMORPGs GvG content

#SPICY HOT GUILD DRAMAS

due to espionage and betrayals and alliances.

6 . Finally, a territorial battle allows the players to utilize the many obscure locations in the world map IMC has made that are often forgotten after a player finishes their quests.

With that said I present to you the playground of a territorial war will be held at.

Yup, everywhere. and IMC was also planning to create new continents once they are finished with the current one.

I would also like to share my nostalgic experience with the territorial war in the old IMC game.

So back in the old days, the server I was on had a single Mega Super Guild, which controls most of the territories, they only accepted the most powerful PvP players and would often bribe the strongest players from other guild and rivals to join their ranks. This lead to so many betrayals and guilds disbanding. The Mega Super Guild also had Vassal guilds that do their bidding.

The guild I was on was a Unified guild where the from the many disbanded guilds member .The Unified Guild cannot take on Mega Super Guild directly; so guerrilla tactics were involved feints and diversion attacks as well as coordinating attacks with other guilds not in alliance with the Super Mega Guild and its Vassals.

The tactics involve scouting teams with stealth characters reporting enemy movement particularly the most OP unkillable characters of the Super Mega Guild and finding out weak spots and enemy activity in map and inside cities and towns.

A combat team with PvP gears and a logistical support team of healers, CC and resu are there to fight and hold of enemy reinforcements.

And a “breaking team” which characters equip solely for to destroying structures quickly like, canoneers, builders, and summoners, are often in staging areas waiting for the order to capture a territory.

The flow of the strategy was to attack multiple lightly defended enemy territories but not capture it. And then we wait until the event is about to end in like 10 to 15 mins left and capture as many territory as possible with in the time frame. Because we have no capabilities to defend them :stuck_out_tongue: .

Rinse repeat and read following drama in the forums

Territorial war isnt unique to GE as other MMORPG has them aswell, but with more flexible character builds in ToS there would be more flavours for a Territorial war in ToS.

thank you for reading the large wall of text. may you be a part of this endeavor. :white_check_mark:

also I hope Guild also get to design their emblems but limit it to decals on a shield base like heraldry.

That’s a brilliant idea. It would be so cool if they did smething like tha! I like when games have a “social” experience like that.

One thing which I noticed in ToS … is that the denizens there are too good and are excellent followers/believers.

There is no one to question why they should follow the goddess, no one to blame others for the war, little to no opposition/political parties. There is no alternate factions that endorse other means of rebuilding/claiming back lost lands other than what is followed by the majority, relying on revelators.

Hopefully in future content updates we can get to see branching storylines where the player can choose sides on faction to take, where their methods to reclaim the lost lands and rebuild the kingdom differ but overall goal the same.

… and spats between factions for resources in territories often leads to skirmishes between believers.

So here we have, a good excuse premise to include faction wars, skirmishes for resource control, capture castles etc. There is already an over arching political storyline, eg.

What happened to the appraiser master? Did some noble silence him/her?

Why Princess Gaivile’s Attendant hands out a fake royal orders? Some political problems in royal court?

Why did the kupoles force me to betray my homeboy demon lord hauberk?
Free Hauberk I say, free him!!

This seems like a genuinely fun gamemode, not sure how they would implement it in a way that doesn’t hinder progress of nonparticipating players in the area while also making it a fluid experience. Then again it’s pretty late so tiredness is making me miss the obvious answer.
Either way, I really hope they inpliment something like this after thoroughly balancing classes for PvP.

My guild would be so down with this!

???
They can extend the capacity to whatever their engine let them to.

I am one of those that think that TBL should be erased off the game. It is flawed in so many aspects that makes people just not want to “PvP” at all. As a competitive player that GvG’d on “Shaiya in 2009-2011” the territorial battles are super fun and the concept is great, although we don’t have factions, fighting for objectives that can grant guild benefits (Exp bonuses, Patt,Matt bonuses, etc) is a great idea and i enjoyed it while i played that game. Of course, it was flawed and that’s why i quit Shaiya back in the day but the concept is great. I personally wouldn’t touch the current maps and just implement new and bigger maps with more bridges and mountains that let guilds scout each other, and let strategies happen more than “ZERGING” a small guild or objective.
-Those new maps i’m talking about should be only for level 330 or whatever the level cap is if they ever decide to develop it.
-PvP Rankings, it could be taken from Shaiya’s idea aka getting rank by the amount of players killed, which is sort of the “Slaughterer” achievement that we have here but instead of monster, players. ( It could be different)

I would continue but the class balance and graphic optimization on this game are killing my will to give proposals and ideas from other MMOs.

Peace.

fvck me this is an amazing idea

Some things i’d like to say about this:
You didn’t say whether this was supposed to be permanent gvg or gvg only during certain times of the week on certain maps. I assume you mean permanent gvg.

  1. I’m ok with it, as long as people/guilds who are not interested in pvp/gvg are not dragged into it/are not forced to pvp/gvg.

  2. I suggest benefits from victories should only be active while the guild is marked as “yes we want to do pvp/gvg and are open to being attacked” and thus mark them freely available to be attacked. The moment they go neutral they should lose all benefits from these victories.

  3. The rewards and benefits must be carefully chosen, otherwise, if the rewards are some powerful equipments, it’ll result in a sitation where some few groups become stupidly powerful and monopolize the entire gvg system while making it impossible for others to even have a chance (“the stronger become stronger while keeping the weak weak.”).

The problem with territorial wars is zoning in warp area geez. All people will stick there.

There are already factions in the game’s lore. There is the goddess faction, demon faction, faction of the tree of truth, and then there are the humans who just want to live in relative peace.

I wouldn’t join the goddesses (hate being forced into their cause) because in the 1st place they f*cked the world up by waking “god” and expect us to just fix it. They also force me to betray by homie hauberk over and over because they gave out reliable xp to help break the 186 xp wall (haven’t done that quest line in a while cuz hauberk, I’m so sorry the 1st few times man - I really want a quest line that allows me to break him out of jail).

That said, I could see myself with the demons cuz FU Vakarine for making me throw hauberk under the bus. I mean, if you look at it from a different angle, it’s been the demons who have been helping me progress. They give me xp, gear. silver.

I can also see myself as a follower of the tree of truth cuz they pretty much give the finger to both goddesses and demons.

The biggest issue any suggestion of this nature HAS TO ADDRESS is why. Sure it’s fun but why do something you get nothing out of other than fun. WoE had its zone specific dungeon that wasn’t a straight up reward to its owners. You still had to “work” to gain the rewards of a zone just for its owners. You don’t just go in and “ah xp”. You still had to kill for xp, still had to fight rng for loot, and you had to be wary of other dungeon owners that could pk.

Wow, this is a big Idea that should take much time to work with.

And somehow I think about MOBA game play system after reading this.

Interesting hiccup of an idea. Where are the details of your idea? Do I get bothered of the kindergartens cause by the sieges?

This the way the story is around the Hauberk plot it really makes the goddesses look like villains in disguise.

IKR? The world is broken because the goddesses did something Laima told them NOT to do.

On another note, I think Saule has a crush on Bramble.

He’s super chill and seems to be pretty powerful in his own right, considering everyone seems to be afraid of what will happen if all his fragments come together again. My theory is he knows something neither the goddesses nor the demons want the revelators to fing out about.

cmon guys! RACE WAR!

They can extend the capacity to whatever their engine let them to.

Yeah but they havent actually done it after all this time. There isnt any trouble for player overpopulation in a single map so why the limit of 100. So it probably has to do with questionable game design.

I am one of those that think that TBL should be erased off the game.

TBL is there because prizes, the issues is again IMC’s questionable balancing mindset. If you want casual PvP then challenge someone to a duel.

Those new maps i’m talking about should be only for level 330 or whatever the level cap is if they ever decide to develop it.

all map levels are should be involve. In IMC old game the war takes place is a special channel where there are no monster spawning. And if anyone who has no intent to join the GvG enter the special channel of GvG and expect not to be Player Killed is an idiot.

In the end whatever design IMC has for a GvG are all questionable if majority of the players are going to get FPS apocalypse with their current optimization.

great idea
and lets crash channel together
