Was wondering if I could go DPS as Sword->Peltx2->Rodelerox3
I find myself lacking either damage or CC, what do?
actually when u leveled up the high guard till lv6, you will get two nice attribute that will boost your umbo blow & umbo thrust damage for 250%++
i ve never tried it before. but im going to take a shot in this beta 
Your dps output highly depends on your stats right now imo
as for CC, I don’t have much say regarding that combo xD
This was actually confirmed by kCBT players that Umbo/Rim Blow is what you have to level to level 6. High Guard can stay at level 1.
But High guard reduces my overall attack by 50%, so the only benefit is on umbo and rim while the rest of my attacks will suffer lower damage?

Rodelero is actually great if you’re looking for cc, pretty much every skill has a stun/slow/disable effect but the damage is lackluster. A pure sword and board DPS should only pick up a single rank in Peltasta and go Barbarian/Hoplite/Highlander afterwards imo.

is there much point in getting rod3? i would probably go pelt1; then barb2 or hop2 depending on if you prefer pierce or stronger attacks. then finish it off with 2 in rodelero.
Weapon + Shield never will do dmg similar 2H weapon or 2x1H weapon
how so? Condicering there are several shield skills for dealing damage what’s the differance?
You might like my build, since its essentially a shield DPS build.
Hoplites’ finestra is really what makes it great. The Peltasta 250% mastery is a trap as Umbo/Rim Blow both fall off heavily in damage later on, while you’ll still be stuck with the halved damage on everything. Just get 1 rank in Peltasta and go for Hoplite.
Say that to Hoplite and Monk. Rodelero is a good class for CC, not for damage IMO. If you want shield DPS, look for Peltasta C3 without def buffs or Peltasta/Rodelero C1 + Barbarian/Fencer/Hoplite/Highlander (without Guard Cross).

EDIT: Well, not exactly to exceed as a DPS, but be able to kill stuff and have some CC without suffering.
you may try Hoplite/Barbarian/Highlander for damage instead of Peltasta C2 because their skills don’t require specific stance.

What do you mean? When look at the skill like Umbo Blow or Rim Blow you can see the require stance must have a shield. Most Barbarian/Highlander etc skills don’t have require stance mean you can use any weapon you like.
If you want to use specifically shield attacks to deal damage, stuff like Shield bash and whatnot, then DEFINITELY get Rodelero, that class has a lot of different shield attacks. It’s not the best DPS but does good damage and is really great at handling large groups of monsters.
So your build would be Swordsman > Peltasta > Hoplite > Rodelero 1-3.
Wouldn’t that force me to use a spear?
