Share your special snowflake builds (non-meta)

The existence of the meta is unavoidable, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with our characters! I really love seeing people’s builds and learning new things about how different classes can work together, so let’s share our unique/uncommon builds and why we picked them. Who knows, you might even find a new combination you want to try out!

I’ll start with mine: a support PVE Wizard centred around Sorcerer and Thaumaturge.

When I first started playing I fell in love with the concept of the Sorcerer class, so I knew right away I wanted to structure my build around Sorcerer C2~3. I picked PyroC2 to help with early levelling and to give me something to do while my summon was busy fighting for me (and then Agny happened later on so it turned out to be a good choice even though everyone was crazy for CryoC3/WizardC3 at the time).

I initially picked Thaumaturge just for Swell Body, but later came to realize that it had excellent synergy with Sorcerer as a supporting class. The offensive power of Sorcerer’s Summoning and Salamion both scale off of INT, and Summon Familiar’s damage scales off of magic attack. Thaumaturge can add up to +145 INT with Swell Brain and around +800~1000 additional magic attack using Swell Left/Right Arm and a dagger offhand weapon. With all my buffs active, Familiar’s base damage nearly doubles and my TS gets about +600 base physical/magical attack. All summons and the INT-scaling for Swell Left/Right Arm also take a snapshot, so even when I use Transpose to swap my INT into CON my summons remain powerful and my buffs allow me to maintain a respectable amount of damage.

On the downside of things, it’s a build that takes up a lot of buff slots (Fire Enchant, Swell Left Arm, Swell Right Arm, Swell Brain, and Transpose) so unless there’s a Krivis around I usually hold back on some of the buffs. If it’s a party full of Archers/Swordsmen then I try to cast my Swell Brain a bit of a distance away so they don’t have to keep clicking it off, and if there are other buff-heavy classes like Priest or Chrono then the Arm buffs are the first to go. I think that’s why not a lot of people go for ThauC3 (plus the attributes get a bit expensive), but when you get a party full of Wizards/Clerics who run INT builds then Thau’s buffs really get to shine.

And that’s my build! So, what other fun builds have people put together?

My special snowflake builds:

  • swordsman peltasta barb 2 squire 3 murmillo (277 atm)

  • swordsman 3 peltasta corsair 3 shinobi (317 if carded)

  • wiz pyro 3 chrono 3 sage (317)

  • cleric 3 sadhu 2 druid 2 (might go druid 3 if I get sick of miko quest)(251)

  • wiz pyro 3 linker 2 ff 2 (becomes meta later)(292)

  • archer 2 ranger scout 3 sr 2(271)

Meta build I have:

  • wiz pyro2 linker 2 thauma 2 sage(293)

  • wiz pyro 3 linker 3 sage.(292)

Are all of them rank 8? Yes except for my sadhu and scout 3.

cleric2>linker1>cryo3>miko

Does that work?

Sword C2 > High C2 > Barb C2 > Doppel C2
Sword C1 > High C3 > Barb C3 > Murmillo

Sword c3> hc1>peltc1> dop3

sw1>pel3>cors1>fencer3  Defense/offense specialist XD

Cleric 2 - Priest 3 - Chaplain - Oracle - Miko
on lv 283 stuck on rank 7 dream build with unable to move on to rank 8 cuz no Miko arrived yet on idTos and I loathe my publisher so much more than IMC (sorry let me rant a bit here)

another is Swordsman - Highlander 3 - Corsair - Doppel 3.

Wiz2 > Cryo2 > Kino3 > Runecaster
…for pve. My main, and I love it.

Cleric2 > Krivis3 > Oracle > Kabba2
… Not yet Kabba2 tho (a few more lvls). I don’t like how expensive Taoist is.

And, currently planning for
Cleric2 > Priest3 > Miko > PD > Krivis
(Lel)

Cancerlock
Wiz 1 Pyro 2 Cyro 1 (pushing people) chrono 2 warlock 2

super fast cancer spread at Dina and DP2

Wikz3/Linker1/Chrono3/Warlock1

Silverfarmingmachine

Ranked by satisfying gameplay:

  1. Archer2>quarrel3>rogue1>falconer1>mergen

  2. Pyro3>chrono3>sage

  3. Wiz3>ele3>linker1>sage

  4. Pelt1>cata1>hoplite3>dragoon2

  5. Wiz3>linker1>chrono3>sage

All of these builds have been fun to play, with the exception of wiz3>linker>chrono3>sage. Should’ve went with chrono2>lock or ff.

1 I was swordman 3 / peltasa/ X / fencer 2 before summer.
2 swordman / peltasa3 / rodelero 3 / murmillo (most people go shinobi instead of peltasa 3)
3 wizard 3 pyromancer 2 sorceror 3
4 wizard 3 pyromancer 3 linker 1 sage
5 wizard 1 pyromancer 1 linker 3 alchemist 3
6 cleric 3 priest miko druid 3
7 archer 1 ranger 2 rogue1 scout 3 hackapell ( 3 cloth, full str with glassmoles cards)

I have others that are strange but not worth mentioning.
The important point is as long you don’t try to play with hysterical pick up group metawhoring is what matters.

archer3>wugu2>rogue3 >>>i’m relying on burrow, i think i should have taken scout1 here first

sw>hl3>rod3>murm >>> im enjoying this one a lot and is now my main

ar>qs1>hunter3>wugu2>mergen >>> yes, a hunter3 and its working quite well

ar>qs>sapper2>wugu2>musket >>> i have fun around this char but i got lazy with it

Cleric3>Sadhu3>Kabbalist2 going Inqui after Kabbalist C3; physical DEX/CON build

Cleric2>Bokor3>Oracle3 going Kabbalist C3 for the lulz

Cleric2>Krivis3>Pardoner3 going Taoist C3 and maybe Cleric C3 afterwards if possible xD

Wizard3>Linker1>Thaumaturge3>Enchanter
This one will become Enchanter C3 and, if possible, Runecaster afterwards. Runecaster is becoming pretty awesome lately
Reversi and JP scrolls will be super useful for my team later on, if IMC decides to reduce the costs for scrolling (currently lvl 3-15 scrolls are way too expensive to create)…

I don’t really know if this is non-meta, like really no idea but

main:
wiz 3 cryo 3 rc 1 (before reset)
wiz 1 cryo 1 kino 3 chrono 2 (after reset)

work-in-progress alt farmer:
wiz1 pyro 1 link 1 thauma 3 feather foot 2 (im only level 30+ loool)

also want a:
cleric 1 priest 3 pardoner 2 oracle 2
spr/dex type which is obviously a walking buff shop lol but has more dex than is probably needed and if ever used as a shop will be placed in some map where no one really goes to just because :sob:

My builds:

Cleric C2 Priest C2 Monk Druid 3 - Dex/Con (The most fun and its very strong)

Cleric Priest C2 Paladin C3 Plague Inquisidor - Str/Dex/Con (Main char)

Sw C2 Barb C3 Corsair C3 - Dex/Con

Sw C3 Highlander C3 Dragon C2 - Str/Con/Dex

SW3, pelt1, corsair3, Dopple. lv 301
SW2, pelt1, Cata3, Dopple, Lancer lv 330
SW3, Cata3, Dopple2 - 317

I prefer spear-type Dopples.

My swordsman builds that I’m playing and loving so far.

Swordsman C1 > Peltasta C3 > Hoplite C2 > Doppel C1 > Murmillo
Swordsman C2 > Hoplite C2 > Cataphract C3 > Lancer
Swordsman C3 > Highlander C2 > Corsair C3 (on the road)

I theorycraft a lot of builds. Those three it is the most fun until now for me. My damage in all of them are really nice, instead the first build since the focus is tank, so the damage is medium, but I can solo some R8 maps with him.
