if they went with their original plan of 1/2/3 months EA, we wouldn’t get such huge influx of players hogging server resources, running the experience for everybody. You guys cried, asked for this. You got it. Enjoy!

The same issues and bugs would still be there.
The same ones from a CBT year ago, yeah they would and are still here.

Firstly, the EA was wrong for the following reasons:
- If they needed time to develop and improve the game for full release, they should have just started in May and not March. So they did the right thing by removing staggered access for payment - but should have delayed the release if they really couldn’t handle it.
- They shouldn’t have charged for an EA either, not in this state at least. Greed is obvious here. If they need monetary support, they could actually say so. It’s not unheard of and many people actually appreciate honesty over a blatant cashgrab.
- If they needed a smaller group of people to actually test and not overload the servers, then they should actually just get a smaller group of testers (and obviously not charge them for such a piss-poor product).
- They’ve been given months and months to fix some FUNDAMENTAL problems in the game. People have been really patient already. You can’t fault them for being salty at this point, especially since you are asking for people’s money.
you do realize all these channel, dungeon queue bugs were caused by the huge influx of people right? If they went with their original plan, people would gradually join the game, allowing IMC to adapt and adjust over time. It would be much easier for them and in return, it would be a much better experience for the players.
Alternatively, IMC could have pushed back the starting date of the early access if there was so many issues. A three month head start in a modern MMO is absurd. Not to mention, the best way to test a game before launch is to have a large sample size. Restricting access to an open beta is stupid to begin with.
Ever play FFXIV? Do you know how its open beta worked? Free for everyone for two weeks. They got lots of data, tons of development work accomplished and were perfectly ready to launch into release once the open beta closed. The point of betas are to break stuff, to stress test and prepare for release. You want more people in open betas.
The only people who are mad that IMC didn’t have a three month head start and the blind cash cows who couldn’t wait to throw their money at the screen, not knowing what the cash shop was like or what kind of servers there would be.
I would’ve loved the first option tbh. Less people playing from the 50 bucks and 1 month of less people online.
They’ve, collectively, had over three closed betas. If they needed a fourth, they should have released one. However they announced that the game was going into open beta and they added a three month head start and a price tag for joining it. Obviously that wasn’t going to sit well.
People were going to be mad that others could play for three months ahead of them by shelling out $50.00 USD. What MMO has a three month head start? That’s insane. So yeah, people complained and IMC compromised to have it be a month. However they decided that their game was in a state proper enough to handle launching in March.
Not to mention, their Steam page is misleading. It doesn’t mention a beta anywhere. In fact the Steam page makes it seem as though players are paying for early access to release. So yeah, there are a lot of people joining. If IMC maybe listed on the Steam page that it was an open beta? Might have less angry people.
What you people don’t get is that less people doesn’t solve anything. If IMC is getting ready for its full release, then it is a good thing to have as many people as possible in order to stress test the servers and get that data up and going, before it all crashes and burns on the actual release date.
The only people who benefit from the first option are selfish people who don’t realize the dangerous implications of a 3 month headstart and only want to benefit at the expense of the longevity of the server (note that I am one of those who bought a $50 package). So I am glad that access times are all the same now. But they should have been delayed if IMC really couldn’t handle the load.
If you’re saying that IMC’s plan to stagger the release is a legitimate way to plan out the load, then it shouldn’t require people to pay for it as that means that it is in a beta testing phase with serious problems to be resolved. They should have just did it like the previous betas with a set pool of testers.
The irresistable inference is that the staggering plan is nothing more than an attempt to grab money without having to put forth a proper product. So don’t fall for it.
I’d like to know the population of Klapaida when on Red status.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Doesn’t matter, Steam reviews are tanking. Game is done.
The things by far the most annoying, which is the extreme lag and constant freezes, would probably be a lot less.
Extreme lag and freezes have been worked on quite a bit. I don’t as hard as I did at launch. Not even close. My game has been perfectly responsive for the past few days, save for a random DC maybe twice a day? The server’s stability needs work, but it has improved.
Yes, but the extreme lag started again a few hours ago on Orsha. So it seems the stability still needs a lot of work.

Regardless, FFXIV had tons of launch issues. There was no player queue system in place, so when servers filled up no one else could log in ever. And there was no AFK kick in place, so people just stayed logged in for days. And then there were other problems like a mysterious crash to desktop (so maybe you spammed the character select screen trying to get in, finally manage hours later, then crash 20mins in and have to do it all over again), dungeon servers crashing because servers weren’t separated into clusters yet, etc. In the end, they had to give people like a week or two of free time to calm them down.
Yes, IMC could have done things differently, but there’s no such thing as a pain free MMO launch anymore. The last dozen big MMOs I have played had launch issues and all of the same forum rage posts. Hopefully things will be resolved soon and people will be laughing about this in a few weeks (but I wouldn’t be surprised if the f2p launch is problematic too).
Anyway, I completely agree that a 3-month headstart is absurd. >_> But even a 1-month headstart is absurd to me. Probably a great way to get tons of ‘founders’, though.
Yeah, it’s like people are not looking at other MMO launches. It’s been less than a week. MMO launches are always crappy (well not true. Black Desert Online’s launch was one of the best I’ve seen). What we need to focus on is how the launch will be fixed.
I don’t give a ■■■■ about steam reviews. All these people giving bad reviews because of server issues during the first week. Nothing to do with the actual game and I doubt any of them are even mid-level.
Just children whining. Steam reviews are always a joke, shouldn’t even be possible to review a game without playing it
