I was in Germany before and can access to PSO2JP without any problem.
Grants, PSO2JP may block more IP ranges now (need official statement from SEGA) but we are talking about the block back in 2013 when the entire world could still access to PSO2JP without any restriction, and if you played the game back then you would notice the number of bots decrease dramatically the moment the block kicks in.
Bot and goldseller is a known cancer on all mmorpg , most of them had a malicious intent, screwing with people fun and pleasure by spamming the global chat also on town and deploying their gaybot troops to farm silver on good grinding spot thus making the game laggy and forcing people to quit the game. Stop supporting these evil madafakah , donât buy the silver, dont hesitated to click the report button if u see those puta and DDoS their site if u know how and got the ballz for it.
Only u can make the difference by helping IMC eradicate those cancerous ducktard morons from China.
what are you guys talking about? I still play pso2 without any proxy and I donât live in japan.
Most of the non-jp players there I know also donât use proxy.
The closest thing to mass IP ban was after that ddos attack that cause their server to stop broadcasting their IP for a short while, but thatâs more than a year or two ago.
bot just arenât there. There used to be bots i heard, as they spam search in item shop that slow down the server. After forcing some word select, I havenât heard much about bots at all.
thus, either bots and gold sellers are from outside China, which is highly possible, or they use proxies, which is highly possible either
the only way stop botting is none, currently it is just too easy for anyone to write a script, i m not computer programming ppl, the only way we can defeat those bot and gold seller as a player would be dont buy gold from them
I couldnt find a China IP so I used a Korea one instead, but I guess the result would still the same. This may be just another screw up from IMC judging the fact they just announced new player restriction a few days ago and yet I still be able to make a new Steam/iToS account for the test.
i dont have China node either
test with my TW node, it got block, but since i have only 1 TW node
i guess IMC do not ban the whole range?
from how the optimization were, i say no surprice they screw up
i can still see gold seller from china, those use QQ
my blacklist is now longer than my phone book
tbh blocking IP really wont do much, why not taking more serious action like locking steam acc?
IP block wonât get rid of all the gold spammers, but it will greatly alleviate it. Yes, there are VPN services that allows them to get around the IP block, but typically, it weeds out the smaller gold selling companies because they refuse to pay for the VPN services.
IMC is releasing TOS for China anyways, so hopefully they do a region block when that happens.
A VPN server and block of business/data center IPs would cost them ~$100-$200. And the amount of gold they can farm can be resold for at least 4x that.
And thatâs assuming theyâre using a clean VPN services, because Blackhat services are cheaper, and can even use residential IPs.
I said smaller gold selling companies. They cannot compete with the bigger companies that are selling at a low margin. The bigger companies tends to work at a very low margin to weed out the smaller companies to begin with. With an additional cost for VPN, the smaller companies can barely survive so they wonât bother.
If youâve played in any other MMOs, you shouldâve seen a significant decrease in bots and gold spammers when IP region block is implemented. Having bad security is better than having no security.
An IP block means they will sell in-region because itâs easier, NOT because they canât afford to sell out- of regionâŚnote the âdecreaseâ of bots/sellers and not âthe eliminationâ of bots/gold sellers. No one abandons moneyâŚ
And just so youâre aware, there are next to no IP blocks in âGlobalâ (aka, ânot enough NA players, stuff it full of anyone who wants to playâ servers) in any game Iâve played until there is a fallout because of hacking/cheating or social issues, even when the company contract states that they are not allowed to register and play in that region. You can still find non-NA/EU players on those servers in MS and other games.
**Smaller companies have smaller servers, smaller IP pools, to run their smaller farms onâŚ**what youâre trying to assume in your argument is that a VPN inherently will cost more than what a company may make, which is not the truth.
Make note of the Blackhat example I previously stated: infected small-business servers can handle the game and any traffic the game and VPN tunnel passes. Instead of holding onto âhot-stockâ, underground forums (many in ChinaâŚ) will sell access to those servers to other parties for CHEAP.
**Cheap as in $10 eachâŚ**a small farm of 30 bots costing $300 is able to make upwards of 2 million+ silver a day and resell that to get their investment money back.
After that, regardless of competition with larger farms, theyâll still see a reason to continue selling/farming.
On another note, a âlargeâ farm and a âsmallâ farm will still have the same advertisement foothold in-game: they will not seem any larger or smaller of an entity to a player walking by.
And even a smaller company could hire a cheap intermediary to run point on spamming and the creation of accounts for the express use of spammingâŚ
You sir, are running a gold-selling sweatshop with workers in China. I assume you live in NA, but your workers are overseas.
Your argument is just too thought out and it seems like you are very afraid of a region ip block. I am going to go out on a limb and almost guarantee that when IMC releases servers for China, they will implement the IP block because they will want to make more money.
Whatâs the harm of having a region ip block when that specific region has their own server?
Youâre being too defensive over a non-issue. You have family in China that wants to play on same server as you right? You stay up from 2 AM to 10 AM just to play with them right?
