Anyone with a brain would NOT get insulted by being called âgayâ or ââ â â *otâ. Just by knowing the origin of the word âgayâ should make it completely non-offensive.
IF youâre offended by the notion of someone thinking that youâre a homosexual, then youâre probably slightly homophobic. However, even if you are, YOU KNOW that youâre not a homosexual, and thatâs all that should matter to you, thus making you not have an aggressive reaction.
And yes, I know that if youâre homophobic, the word âgayâ would probably be offensive to you just by the fact that you are homophobic, but since weâre talking people with âbrainâ, then Iâm assuming that simply by considering everything (what the word means, the fact that you know that youâre not a homosexualâŚetc), you would still have enough self-control not to act aggressively to it, or even get defensive about it, but rather just ignore it.
ââ â â *otâ is an informal offensive way to say âgayâ or âHomosexualâ and should really only be offensive for a homosexual person. Sensitive ones, at least.
Now, homosexual person that has a âbrainâ and is a bit less sensitive should in my opinion just go like: âWait, â â â *ot essentially just means homosexual (Talking NA, not British) and thatâs what I am, should I really be offended by this word, just because someone, at some point labeled it as an informal offensive word for homosexual? No, I donât think I should, so Iâll just ignore this person.â
I mean, if you think about it, when someone calls out a homosexual person with âHey, â â â *otâ, all they are saying is âHey, gayâ and for them, that should really just translate to âHey, person that knows oneselfâ
That is at least how it would probably play out in my head. Itâs what I think when Iâm trying to empathize at this moment with a hypothetical homosexual person.
Thatâs my thought process for any word thrown at me that some people consider offensive.
I first think does that word even apply to me at all, based on who I am. Then HOW it applies to me⌠After which my reaction comes into place.
For me, calling me âStupidâ is more offensive than anything, seriously. There is literally no word that offends me more. Because itâs something that can be applied to me and ANY person. I think people should be more offended by being called stupid than anything, lol.
When people on the internet go ham on me for some reason with insults, like: âHey â â â *ot, â â â â loving piece of â â â â , mother fuckerâŚetcâ itâs like theyâre just writing âbla bla blaâ.
If someone was saying that to me IRL, outside, as long as thereâs a decent distance between us, it would be the same. Iâd move away, not because Iâm offended, but because obviously he would be yelling, so the noise would be extremely annoying.
If he was doing the same, but also invading my personal space, Iâd probably punch the person as precautionary self-defense of a possible physical attack on me. Still not offended, though.

For me, those reactions make absolutely no sense. I would never react to that in this way.
Iâd just say âNo thanks dudeâ and move on.
tl;dr - People get offended by the most ridiculous things and I am glad that I am one of people that donât get offended by many things 
Having it be filtered, but able to bypass that filter doesnât change the fact that itâs a censored word and is âânot okayââ to say.
Although yes, a filter bypass definitely would be a good feature for this game.
