Scout - Cloaking question

I’ve only seen a handful of scouts, unfortunately couldn’t see if it also blocks magic - but it’s extremely effective nonetheless. Also, AoEs do not have a long charge - multishot needs 3 hits to instantly kill a cloaked player at lv 200 - this takes around 1 second to do. The only classes I could see having trouble with a cloaked player is swordsman classes.

imo Cloaking is very weak atm, it should be complete invisiblity + dust trail or something similiar.

I think they should make it completely invisible and keep that little “Shadow spot” on the ground. If you have entered a map and the people sprites took a while to load then you will know what I mean. that shadow spot on the ground would be pretty easy to miss in PVP with a lot of effects going on I think.

I think it’s pretty good already with the attribute “+50% dmg on next skill”

Yeah, the way I see it, it’s like a buff rather than a utility skill lol

I’m a huge fan of characters that has cloaking / hiding techniques this thread help me a lot!
I hope I get a chance to participate in the next CBT. :grinning:

They can’t see you at all. Unless the target circle is still on you, you’re completely invisible.

wait so no more big red shadow?

With all type of cloaks theres always the issue of cheats. If IMC decides to make the cloak like @SixPool suggested or completely invisible they need to make sure to defend against your typical problems that come a long with it.

I cant understand what you were trying to say honestly. Cheats? And you already have a way to defend yourself. AoE.

All type of “cloaks” and “invisible” units have been cracked more or less by 3rd party programs or by editing the game files so that you can see them without problem. What im saying is that if IMC implements the cloak in the way previously described, im hoping they will also get ready for those people who will edit game files or use third party programs to remove the “cloak”

Never heard of RO having that issue, also aren’t you overthinking it?

Are you simply an advocate against invisible units/people? I mean it’s fine, I think we can agree that we value each other’s opinions - in my opinion the niche that Could potentially have access to such cheats are such a small margin that it’s basically nonexistant.

In what games per say did you experience and had that problem?

RO never admittedly had that issue but im sure there were people that had done those alterations to game files.

I’m actually a fan of full invis skills but I’m aware of the fact that those tend to be the first things people create a 3rd party program or alter game files for.

I quickly remember some games that had this issue: Dofus online - Sram (assasin class) had a full invis skill which was countered by a lot of the top players by altering game files so they always knew where Sram is. This was confirmed and later on people were banned for it.

Heroes of the Storm - MOBA game, the stealth system in that game works so that you can actually see the cloaked hero if you look closely. However, some players have been using a hacked client since day 1 to see all heroes - including hidden ones on their minimap as icons. Therefore removing any advantage of ganking or stealth in general.

WoW has also been targeted by gamefile editing. Theres been numerous bans in the game for doing that to counter rogues. (Not confimed by me, just stuff I hear from people I know)

Elder Scrolls Online apparently has the same issue.

I didn’t bother start searching for more games with this issue, since im pretty sure you get the picture from this. And btw, even in tournaments people get caught with cheats (CS GO).

But yea, maybe im over thinking this, but in my experience stealth / invis mechanics have always been an easy target for people who want that little edge when playing. Probably due to the fact that it’s easy to get access to that information (where the invis hero is) from the packages and add a third party program to point it out on your screen.

Anyways, I just wanted to point out that when and if IMC decides to implement full invis skills, I hope they will also have a plan to deal with the cheaters, without doing shady sniffing around your computer like Blizzard has done and been sued for.

Well, the only one that I’d consider a pvp game from the ones you said was RO and as you said it didn’t have the issue. I have no issues seeing other players when they’re invisible as it is in HotS, you know what enemies you’re up against so you know what to look out for. Wouldn’t mind that sort of invisibility here though, even more if it’d be on same cd and activated automatically. Would be fun.

Also I disagree, first thing that is going to be developed are bots. It always is bots, gain comes first.

Yeah, most famous to be banned I think is still QKLY in cs go. Then again, that was an aimbot and not a wallhack. Plus in majors they provide you with a pc, you just carry in your config files on an usb. I played against/with some of the players that frequent majors, and even on high level you’ll find wallhackers ( mostly, very rarely aimbotters ). The csgo stars however have far too much to lose had they been caught cheating, as you said bans will roll out if people cheat in this game.

WoW, ESO, other possible mmorps - are not pvp centred. Frankly, there’s no real reason to do it in those games as you gain nothing by doing it. I guess in wow you get pvp gear faster if you can cheat your way through rogues, then again pvp in those games is just a cherry on the top and by far not the main selling point of those games.

Changing/altering game files to bypass animation was a thing in RO I can tell you that much, but I never did it myself as I find cheating against what I’m looking for in a game - a challenge.

I guess you do have a point that it is possible, then again the guys making the game are no greenhorns to mmorpgs so I’m sure they have ideas in mind to prevent/combat it. I’m going to give the team the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

Wellp, I played some of those games and I hope ToS and BnS won’t become like them. :<

Anyone tried Fade and Burrow in pvp? Is it good?

I heard Cloaking is a must in every Rogue build, because its easier to Backstab enemies and do more damage with this attribute

@WatchGintama
Now you are completely invisible with Cloaking? no more that red shadow in pvp?

I don’t understand why cloaking belongs to scout class and rogues got burrow o.o

Can someone tell me
Cloaking – feint – Keep cloaking or uncloak ?

IT LIVES! ITS LIVES!!! :skull_crossbones: That necro.

To answer your question. Cloaking stays on you as long as you do not take damage, deal damage, and/or jump.

Sorry also forgot to mention mounting your companion as well

what if they have mounting class?i saw a video that still invi mounting a vel (not premium pet)… there also rush dog skill that doesnt break cloaking due to it using pet stat instead of char stat(coursing and other hunter skill break invi due to its skill related with char stat)

this is from 2015 video(im not sure if updated or not)

i also had read several comment regarding mounting with cloaking but all of it mostly use premium pet to mount(no mounting skill)
