Or not: split arrow is very strong too, and since you would already have scout3, there is no need to go for mergen for extra AOE.
Now going mergen after you already have scout3 this would be stupid.
If Mergen has 0 cooldown AoE spam it shits on Scout3 and Fletcher3 builds. But, that’s why there’s more than one rank 8 archer class.
Its so adorable how some people think IMC is going to give mergen a 0cd spammable barrage skill. Wanna know why scouts get split arrow on a 0cd? Because aside from cloaking and flare shot the entire rest of our abilities have no actual use in the game, they are just gimmicks, we suffer through 3 circles for 1 skill. Mergens barrage will have a cd, the only actual question is how many overheats will it have, you people crack me up.
Which barrage? Because all of Mergen’s skills look like barrage.
Fletcher has all kinds of high DPS skills and they get a 0 cooldown skill as well, honestly nothing is out of th question with IMC.
you cant compare fletcher to other 0cd skills, flecthers also spend half their time online crafting arrows, have to pay for materials for said arrows, they weigh a lb each, and half the time cant be made in dungeons, night and day vs split arrow

One thing that Split Arrow will still be better is that it doesn’t require aiming to get full benefit.
Hit a mob (remember you can hit Ctrl to toggle lock-on), and the game will decide the other 2 mobs for you (although there’s also the downside of sometimes trying to hit that QS’s caltrops instead of the mobs…)
Whereas of the 4 skills shown from Mergen, the 2 barrage skills fire based on your facing direction. The retreat shot should only lock on to targets behind you thus also in a way based on your facing direction. Homing Arrow is either locking on in a cone in front of you or around you. So nothing as simple as toggling on lock-on and mash away that Split Shot key.
(There’s also the fact that Scout can do this since rank 6, whereas Mergen is rank 8)
But taking Mergen should allows you to better handle single target enemy by shotgun-ing them with all the arrows at least.
