I dont know any country where creating a facebook account named “Cat Women” is against the law. Its against the facebook agb´s but who cares about them?

It’s a marketing campaign, the goal isn’t to be fair, it’s to get exposure at no cost XD

That said, I’m hoping they consider adding it to the TP shop later. I have my own reasons for not wanting a FB account, and a reskin of the penguin is not worth it for me.

Are you serious right now? [quote=“d4sm0, post:86, topic:356588, full:true”]

Thank you.

I mean so many legit accounts have silly names so.

Yes, I’m serious. Do a small research on google and you’ll find several.

Well I kinda meant are you serious about using it as an argument since I don’t see how it’s impersonating someone to make an fb account with not even an actual name. You’re acting very nitpicky about this.

Look, I’m not prone to do something potentially illegal.
If you want to blame me for that, keep going (since you already started).

My profile picture is 1) low resolution, 2) a very tiny bit, both allowed under fair use law.

But it’s not even potentially illegal. If you don’t use a picture/name/information of someone else you’re not impersonating anyone.

I mean I don’t have a need to blame anyone, and I would even personally prefer to not have to use facebook for this. But at the same time there’s absolutely no reason why a person couldn’t make an account. So it always comes down to them not wanting to. So whose fault is that?

If we talk about law and stuff there’s always the fact that it’s against Facebook terms to use fake accounts (where someone is not representing their authentic self). And we can as well talk that the event purpose is to spread the word about ToS to your friends and more people.

It’s actually forgiving from IMC part to allow you to participate without attending to certain requirements that validates one account as real. Especially since this goes against the possible purpose of the event.

But about the event itself, it’s ultimately up to the person to choose to participate or not, in any way. It’s an event for one reason as well one reward is given for one reason and participation is optional.

It’s not even an unique reward nor it gives benefits you can’t get by other means in the game so it’s pretty fair. If you don’t want it, it’s totally your decision to not participate.

From my understanding of fair use law, that’s not actually how it works. Fair use does require you to be making some sort of commentary on it (parody, criticism, educational, to name a few). Though I will profess I am not an expert, merely someone who has done some research since I post art to the internet and am interested in how many rights I give away by doing so/what can be enforced.

But in the case of personal usage (e.g. wallpaper, forum avatar), since you aren’t causing any sort of harm to redress (like loss in sales) it’d be difficult to make a legal case regarding it.

I’m obviously talking about my country’s laws (it’s not the USA fair use law) that allows the use of low quality art OR short bits of it (art = music, graphics, videos and so on).

I’m not going to debate further, since no matter how much I repeat I’m talking about my country’s laws, some people keep ignoring it and assume their knowledge applies to whole world to “prove” the event is fair.

P.S.
If it’s not clear, I don’t care about the mount, I only made a joke about it.

It’s not really supposed to be “fair” though. It’s supposed to be marketing.

They’ve clearly finally got a marketing team working on the social media that knows what they’re doing. This was a point of serious complaint in the early days after launch, there was absolutely no social media marketing at all beyond posting a few screenshots.

Look, I only made a joke about that. I know it’s not supposed to be fair as it’s only marketing, don’t explain that to me.

I don’t even know how it went that far.

Anyone got the old Druid Transform/Lycanthropy bugs with the gamepad…? I sure have :crying_cat_face:

No one is asking you to impersonate anyone.
Just put in fake details and you havent impersonated anyone. Impersonation would be putting in details for a real person and making people believe that you were them.

Oh jesus, it doesn’t stop. It seems that jokes about TOS makes people pissy around here.

In my country, it works like this: pretending to be someone else (fake or real) to cause harm or gain an advantage (any kind of) is illegal.

And I even find more funny that the same people defending tree of savior terms of service like God’s word and against misinformation, suggest (or endorse people suggesting) to violate other companies TOS and to potentially break the law of someone else country (pretending to know it).

Now please, I say it again: it was a joke, I don’t care about the pet, I don’t care if it isn’t fair for everyone.

Jokes are prohibited.

Well I personally don’t have any reason to defend rules etc. I just found it silly. This is the last thing I’ll say since I don’t want to argue.
I just suggested the usage of other information than your personal one. Obviously if it’s a problem you’d use the personal one then. The same arguments I said earlier applies to it as well. (Except the ones specifically about “fake” information.)

Hopefully this clears something up and there’s no need for anything further.
