Review on Game Features - Possible Improvements and Add-ons

I experienced the game for 2 days. Here’s the review on game features. I will focus on features that need to be improved or added.

Mouse Control

  • Currently not able to jump when attacking using left click. I used both archer and cleric. For archer, you can use left click on the mob to attack. But you are not able to jump to interrupt your auto attack (space key not work). You have to run away first before you can jump. I changed to use Z key which feels easier to use.
  • You have to point to some very specific point in order to trigger the npc dialog. This happens in Mine quests. Make sure to make a larger mouse sensitive area on NPCs.
  • Overall experience is good on mouse control.

Party System
(Information may not be correct since I only experienced a tiny bit. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks)

  • Suggest to add party description in the player invitation notice. ie.
    Party #123 Invites you to join. Party Description: Grind party at Mine F1.
    I got party invite many times and I have to accept party first to check if this is the party I want. And usually, after I accepted the party, I found they are doing quests and I’m forced to the boss fight with them.
  • Suggest to add confirmation before boss fight for other party members. Once a party member triggered a boss, all party members are forced to present. Maybe it’s better to make a confirmation for other members if they want to join or not.
  • In some quests, say main quest lv30 - 40, once you talk to the npc, you triggered the boss fight. Hence it’s not possible to have all members having the same quest at that moment unless they quit their fight. Allow a short distance from the trigger point will help all members to get the quest before the fight. (I did the boss fight 3 times cuz 3 of us got the quest)

Chat

  • Suggestions
  • Allow mouse control mode user to select channels instead of typing /y /s
  • Restrict spamming of macro emotion and chats (I noticed this in the last minute party)
  • Keep chat channel the same after login/out and switch map

Player Interactions

  • Suggestions
  • In hide other player’s name mode, show player’s name when mouse over. It’s very hard to check their names now using mouse control.
  • Maybe add an option to hide other player’s hp/sp bar and show names only
  • Add an option to block the player in the right click menu. It’s hard to type the player name each time you want to block someone. Also the block option will change to unblock if you already blocked this person.

That kinda make sense, actually. You’re jumping, it’s hard to shoot a bow while jumping.

Yeah , the chat stuff is a little clunky, and in fact, all of the player interaction is clunky. There used to be so much more settings in the RO menus, but this will hopefully come before the game releases.

Yes I may fail to make my point clear. Actually the problem is that I’m not able to jump to interrupt the auto attacking if this auto attack is started using left click. I died from this many times cuz I’m not able to jump away. I have to click somewhere else first, the char starts running, and then I can jump. It’s a bit clumsy when there are many traps around.

Hmmm really? I can animation cancel on wiz pretty easily with left click attacks…

i’m not sure cuz i can’t test it more now.
but i did die a lot when i kept pressing the space bar and the char kept shooting…

Hmm it’s not quite a smooth as say, kiting in SCII, but yes, there are locked frames for attack animations and a turn radius.

It’s like DOTA kiting, it’s slow and imperfect due to turning time. They may actually want to separate attack command from move command though, that may be a big fix to what you’re experiencing.

hmm as far as i experienced it’s not response time issue.
the char does not jump when auto attacking (after left click the monster, the char starts auto attack it)
i have to point to some other open area, let the char start running, and the char can start jumping after this

it’s fine when u get used to it, but it’s a bit non consistent with other control method.

Honestly, i dont know what is the point on using autoattack faster since its a single target attack, on bosses? Whats the point in that? Because if you mess on jumping on a boss you might land on top of an attack the boss released.

I played my pyro and the only time i jumped like crazy was to avoid earthquake-like aoe skills from bosses, other than that, moving around a bit and turn and attack worked fine for me.

yea actually for archer is better to use Z key instead of left click.
But i just point it out here anyways :blush:

I just spam jump-attack-jump-attack sort of like stutter stepping with jumps.

It is also quite buggy when I use the attack animation, but no bolt comes out. So that’s an issue too.

I assume by that you mean the game not deleting chat when you change channels. It even does this with PMs.

I’d also suggest that the chat not close out when you push esc. I just want to bring up the options menu without using my mouse.

every time i changed map, the chat is reset to the ‘ALL’ channel (hopefully i didnt remember it wrong)
and i need to switch back to party chat channel (or window, whichever u like to call)
this its a bit troubling
