Revamp of GBL Rankings

With the current fixed GBL rankings raises an old issue with the ranking system.

The current system doesn’t reward guilds to play

The current rankings show this, but for the sake of anonymity I’ll hide their names. For point of reference:

Guild A is a guild that wins most of their games.

Guild B is a guild that plays a lot but doesn’t win as much.

Guild C is a guild that plays once.

So how does the current ranking system look like at the end of it all?

Guild A has no problem.

Let’s say Guild B’s score is 5-9 (assuming +12/-12 points per game) they’ll end up at 952 points

Let’s say Guild C’s score is 0-1 they’ll end up at 988 points.

So according to this Guild C > Guild B.

How is this fair? Why would Guild B be motivated to queue?

I don’t have a proper solution but number of games played needs to be factored for the ranking system. This is the best time to address this old issue between seasons.

Many things in this game do not make sense, as does the relationship between support and STAFF.

That’s not hard to fix if you made it percentage based and use games played as a method to fix rankings. For eample, let’s say we set the games played difference to 3.

Using the example posted
Guild B 5-9
Guild C 1-0

Let’s say Guild A was 5-1

Once the difference is greater than 3, it will take the difference and designate 40% as losses. So to take into account the example…

Guild B has the most games played. Guild A has played 8 less games, so using the difference of 3 40% of 5 is 2 so the record is 5-3. Guild C has played 13 less games, once again use the difference of 3 and 40% of 10 is 4, so the record is 1-4. Now turn the records into a percentage and sort to determine your winner.

Of course you might have guilds that bug the game for an easy win. However, that is something IMC must address themselves along with the community

yes this system is true for TBL as well.
they implemented elo system with no placement matches, which is flawed to include players/guilds yet to properly finish placements in rankings.

to fix this? implement points system like sports league systems. +1 for a loss, +3 for a win for example…
test it out with ur model there  its not perfect but works better than this flawed elo system.

@STAFF_Letitia take a look on this

This x1000000

If I win one match, why bother playing any more for the entire season?

Two guilds placed above Impetus on the actual rankings, simply because they were 1-0, while we played more games and therefore lost more.

Next Season we should just dodge, dodge, dodge, and wait for the opportunity to play 1 match we are confident we can win!

Truth is, we wont do that cause we want to play, but that is just us.

This is the 2nd biggest issue. The system rewards dodging over anything.

simple as +3 for win, +1pt for loss will encourage guilds to play more and reward based on participation.
sometimes less is more.
no need to implement a “fancy” elo system to a “league” even smaller than a professional sports league.

Edit: obviously -1 pts for dodging lol, 0pts for the side that stayed in que but didnt enter the match due to the other side dodging.
some people will complain, it was accidental dodge cause their game crashed… well then get a better internet/computer… if u crash while queing u wouldnt stand a chance in gvg match anyway lol

What would actually encourage people to play GVG is if there were rewards similar to TBL.

+3 for win, +1 for loss is great. Now accumulate those points either with just the guild leader or every participating member and allow us to buy prizes!

Obviously use the total score as the determining factor as to who is rank 1-3, but give smaller guilds an incentive to play!

EDIT: This would most likely have to be something for the future, given that there will be guilds that go back to their FleeTiPi exploits if the rewards are too good, so you would have to change the queuing system to make certain there are 10 people on either side, or allow for people to queue as party/individual.

I actually wrote Staff_Letitita a PM because of the current Problems with GvG, the Problem with the amount of participations was one of the things.

So its would never be possiple for a guild that participated once to have more points then a guild who participated 9 times with 4 wins and 5 loses.

She answered saying that she will try to bring up those suggestions before the next Season starts.

Ranks still wrong in Silute.
Paradise won 7 times and lost 5, B i q u e i r a play just one game and lost (funny fact: against paradise)

3 - B i q u e i r a
4 - Paradise

(WTF?)

BTW, try to make a system in which guilds want to participate … smaller guilds only participate once (and lose) to try to enter the ranking.
Why not reward those who actually play (even if they lose more)?
