Returning player, need advice/help

Hi, Im a returning player with a level 371 character and I am COMPLETELY lost and overwhelmed coming back to this game lol.

Right now my build is Swordsman > Highlander > Barbarian >Doppel which apparently is outdated now that the new Blossom Blader class is out?

But I’m thinking of just completely switching over to Dragoon since that looks more fun, I already played the crap out of Doppel and got bored.

So I had a few questions,

1. My current weapon is a Lvl 315 +14 Gale Slasher Two-Handed Sword at Transcendence Stage 3 that I worked my butt off to get back then, if I were to switch to Dragoon, what do I do with my old sword? Is there a weapon conversion system? Do I dismantle it? or sell it to an NPC? I remember farming Goddess Blessed Gems and I have no idea if I can extract or get them back.
2. I would like to play Dragoon without needing or using a mount since I think it looks janky animation/looks wise, is there any class combo that lets me play Dragoon without using a mount? I was thinking Swordsman>Hoplite>Dragoon>???
3. How’s the leveling now? I got to 371 from pure grinding and have yet to even touch the story, so I don’t know what exactly I’m supposed to do now or where to even begin.

That’s useless now. The game evolved into Legend weapons or gtfo, sadly. The power gap between legend weapons and unique is too big(not to mention your weapon is just “rare”). Also, you cannot get your BG back anymore.

Popular and Strong PVE build to go with dragoon is hoplite and/or lancer, you’ll might want to mount if you wanna PVE seriously.

Leveling is easy with just grinding on early stages and quests later on, gets harder at 440+.

There’s a linear progression method for story that follows episodes via F5, I recommend checking it, the rewards are great for returning players and newbies.

At the end of episode 11, you’ll be rewarded with Trans10 +11 set of legend gear that’s probably stronger than anything of what you have, or had. This can get you started on working on something better.

Thanks for the reply! So what do I do with my old weapon? I remember I chose that as my main weapon since I loved the way it looked and this was before they added weapon appearance changers. Do I just chuck it or dismantle it?

And as for the mounting, am I forced to use the mount? Like I really really dont want to use it, I think it looks really doofy lol, and I’m okay with not being super meta PvE. But I really love the Dragoon skill animations and wanted to make non-mounted combat work somehow.

I just kept my old weapons for remembrance, up to you on what to do with yours.

If you wanna be at least a little competitive, yes. Maybe you can try Barb instead of Lancer if you really don’t want to mount, I doubt Reti is a good choice for PVE grinding, it will just slow you down so much.

It’s fine to go with what you enjoy/want really, just face the consequences, such as:

• Bad weekly boss raid accumulated damage
• Low Bernice Score
• Slow CM Grind/people might kick you for it
• No slot for you in raids unless someone carries hard

^ These are also unfortunately key things for you to catch up, you might wanna look for a guild that could help you.

Also I know it’s sad just by not going meta you’ll have to suck it up a lot, that’s the problem with this game right now, so many builds, but only a few are really “usable” for end-game content.

I’m perfectly fine with not going meta, I mainly intend to just play casually now with my girlfriend and treat the game like a co-op game and just have fun.

Also, why is Retiarius not a good choice? It seems to have Spear skills, but I’m assuming you suggested Barbarian for the Warcry and Frenzy buffs?

*Edit: Oh wow apparently all Barbarian skills work with Spear? I did not know that, thought it was only sword. I will probably go with Hoplite > Barbarian > Dragoon then!

Barbarian is a strong class and having said that you can not only increase your damage dealt but this class can use ALL weapons.

Retiarius is better with one handed spear + shield or dagger, and the classes you mentioned use 2h spears. So, it is better to pick another class.

As long as you keep doing the game questline, you’ll reach level 440+ super easy! You don’t have to buy anything for your leveling. Save your money to buy your legend weapons/trinket/armor =)

I played with 2h spear characters and it’s really good man!
