Returning Player, Meme Chaplain Qstn

Hello all, ive recently returned to the game after an extended hiatus.

Originally during beta and the early days of the game I heavily played “Saintone’s” diev3/plague doctor build but the bug that spread your own poison from your statues back to you eventually drove me away.

I later returned during the 360 cap and tried out the Meme Chaplain and really enjoyed it, I took it to the cap at the time of 360 and had average primus 350 items however the majority of trash mobs I could 1 hit without any issue.

Upon coming back and questing in the new maps, specifically the new 365-370ish water maps I notice the trash takes significantly longer to kill and the mini quest bosses are a good 2 minutes long.

I understand there have been a couple nerfs such as malleus and the inq. flames but is this just a matter of new mobs being scaled higher or has this build fallen behind, thank you.

It’s a combination of both.

The story bosses in the latest update have quite a bit more HP and hit harder compared to previous updates. The regular mobs are HP Sponges with a few hitting harder than usual with some of their skills.

The AA Chaplain / Inquisitor build is still fine, but there are builds that outperform them DPS-wise. Skill based builds will always have an edge over AA builds. You need a very good weapon to keep up with the DPS of Exorcists and Zealots as an Inquisitor, especially if prior class selections are based around AA, but it should be doable.

Your weapon determines your damage. How high is your weapon upgraded to? Is it transcended?

Inq burn was nerfed but it shouldn’t be too bad. Getting to 380 is very fast, and you’ll see a pretty big jump when you get to 380 weapons in how fast you kill things.

Thats all good to hear, its just the weapon then.

When I came back it was only for about a week so I grabbed a Primus Rayyfe Mace, anvild it and several other with good rolls and in typical fashion never got past +8, well couple 9s but bricked down never reaching 10.

Transcended only to stage 4 b/c again was only about a week at the time and shards werent falling off random elites like now, which is very nice.

The whole reason I came back tbh was hearing that they are massively scaling up the base damage of weapons making the anvils marginal in future content, this is still true correct?

I was around in the early days when people would just crash channels to no-fail weapons to +25 while I was never able to hit even 10, once I got a grand cross to 15 but it took over 13 gold anvils, my rng is very, very poor.

Thank you for the help and feedback.

Yes, with the rebuild update that is coming, base attack values of weapons will greatly increase while upgrade attack bonuses will still stay the same as they are now, which is a direct / indirect nerf, since upgrade bonuses will not be such a huge factor in determining your dmg anymore.
