Returning player inquiring about Monks

Hi,

I’m returning to the game after a long hiatus (ever since right after R8 came out) and only came back very briefly to test a few monk builds I’m interested in for a few days during Rank Reset period. I just came back a few days ago and reached level cap (what’s with all these exp items in the mail) with a monk build I’m satisfied with, but I’m curious about some things:

  1. What are the current Monk 1-3 builds commonly used out there right now?
  2. What stats do you go for now?
  3. Any hybrid damage builds right now (Physical + Magic, I heard maces are dual-stat now)?

this is like a 5th thread with similar question. (just a reminder to use search to get responses faster)

but here it is (obviousely all of this is my opinion)

  1. from what I see on forums and on Orsha server
    most popular builds are:
    cleric2 priest2 monk3 inquisitor
    cleric2 diev2 monk3 inquisitor
    cleric3 diev1 monk3 inquisitor (I play that)

another good build would be:
cleric2 bokor2 monk3 inquisitor

  1. depends on your ping. depends on your gear. universally good build: 50-100 dex rest to STR and all gears focused on PATK

  2. not recommended, but possible. your overall damage would suffer

Thanks, I didn’t want to change the topic in those threads which were talking about Bokor Monks.

It is plausible for a physical-type monk to deal a strong magic burst of damage, provided you meet certain condition. Done right, you’d see you magic damage awesome.

Hello, is it good to choose Cleric2 Priest1 Diev1 Monk3 Inqisitor for pve and ET?

yes, it is. you get some healing capabilities, resurection, and -20% cool down reduction with mana regeneration.

you have to make sure that your party will have another priest then though. (because your priest is only for secondary resurection at that point).

I run ET on cleric3-diev1-monk3-inquisitor, and i have no issues, since we have 2 more priests in the party

it is, however, why?

right now on my monk i have 4.5k PATK and 3.8k MATK with no buffs no gear (just str and weapon)

in that sense yes, they would do relatively similar damage.
However, after you gear up, spen attributes, and put in glass mole cards,
difference between my heal doing 6k ish damage and my double punch doing 32k damage is very vast.

ToS does not work with universal soldiers, you need to build a specialized character to have most efficiency.

But for just mobbing and farming things, any character would do.
even my rainbow full con character was able to get to 330 with no issues now (cleric1-kriv1-priest1-diev1-paladin-monk-oracle-pardoner).

funny story, the reason I have that character is because i did a “roll the dice” character. (you roll a dice for a choice of class and try to level something.

I did remake that char with the reset event into something better but i did level it up like that to 329

I kinda like my hybrid monk tbh. I have a Cleric 2 - Diev 2 - Monk 2 - Miko - Inquisitor. 80 DEX, rest of points 1:1 STR/DEX, full glass moles ( I focused on burst physical damage for God Smash + wheel). Gear’s also physical oriented: top/bottom purple leather HG 315, Lolo leather gloves/boots, lolo medal + 2* sissels.

Even though Owls are in a sad place right now, for stationary dps checks (as well as breaking structures) Owl+hamyia combo does really nice AoE damage, which I felt common Monk3-Inq builds lacked once their wheels went on cd. Inquisitor’s malleus also help a lot with dealing damage with my multihits.

With clap lvl 6 (skill 5 + divine might) I’ve got pretty much permanent owls and silence tree as well.

At bosses, when my pt is melee heavy I also tend to cast wheel and dance (kagura) over it, usually bringing up more DPS than I could dish out myself.

So yeah, I know this hybrid suport/dps and physicla/magical build of mine isn’t the best at anything (lacks monk3 for extra damage, lacks diev 3 for ausrine etc, lacks patk and matk from splitting str and int etc.) but it’s doing quite well so far (and it’s hella fun!)

It is plausible, but as I said, you need certain requirements to get it right.

And no, you don’t need to waste points on int, just toss them at str dex, or whatever.

In my case, I can reach a burst magic damage of 210k in a matter of 3-5 seconds, provided I can meet them and RNG plays nice to me.

well, I can do about 3.5-4m damage in my god smash rotation. (with 555 555 damage on godsmash into the wheel -> finishing with double punches)

and I can still do around 200k in maleus->heal->cure

but the difference is too big.

And probably, I can do that as well…provided I have your precious weapon.

Sad thing is that I’m stuck with a 315 mace

it is not all in the weapon though. also head enchants and physical attack items.

I mean it is possible to do that, but the difference of magical damage and physical is insane for monks at least.

I mean, you can do a hybrid, sure, and for PvP it is probably super usefull. (going full CON) get like a +6 Vinezaris mace trascend to 5 and like, rock the TBL with 70k hp.
But outside of that, it will be sub-par to a Megical only oriented cleric, or physical only.

From the posts above, it seems weapons still play an extremely strong role in damage like how it was before patch, even though I heard stats now play a stronger role in that?

@Huerin Thanks for those numbers in magic damage, I’m convinced hybrid builds are possible as long as you have the equipment for it.

Weapon still matters a lot more. but stats are not utterly useless.
