Tree of Savior Forum

Returning and relatively fresh player Qs

I always liked seeing that this game has been getting all kinds of support from devs, as in it supposedly fixed (or greatly reduced) optimization issues. The music too, and gameplay has always been a bit of a mystery to me. What often stops me when i do try to play the game is that i’m usually at it alone, so i wanted to ask some questions:

  1. Are Swordsman DPS still typically hated? If no, then can i assume any DPS build to Swordsman is viable? looking for something of a boss killer if that is considered better.

  2. Any other solo players here? How was the struggle to cap with no guild or no friends

  3. if number 2 isnt recommended, then what are the reqs for joining a guild and what are the benefits of having one?

  4. What would you say my reliance on the cash shop would be? Scaled from 1-10, 10 being very reliant 1 being not so much.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. i may have follow-up questions, but i figured id ask a few questions to start off with. Tree of Savior seems like one of those kinds of games you need to have knowledge of what you are doing, before it is done.

Swordsmen are absolutely viable, given your account creation date you might have seen how universally Swordsmen were in a rough spot on launch, that was partially fixed with R8 then basically fixed with the Combat Update.

Most builds are viable, but the more optimised route will be Fencer, Doppel, Dragoon, and (somewhat) Murm.

It’s a very reasonable solo grind. Doing it in a group will make it easier and more fun though.

Generally the requirements are don’t be a bad person, and be active. The majority of guilds are open to players at any stage of the game.

Guilds offer a variety of benefits: Unique loot from Guild Missions, a community, and perhaps most importantly, information.

None (1) because you can buy Tokens with Silver and the game is very playable without spending anything. Utilising the free Tokens and event Tokens should give you enough time to get accumulate enough Silver to buy a full one, if that doesn’t work for whatever reason then buying one wouldn’t be a bad investment.

However, spending money is a significant advantage.

Yeah i remember back in the day that this team thought giving Swordsman % based attacks was out of the question. I also remember lots of people saying that if you dont learn provoke as a swordsman, you probably shouldnt even play the job. good to hear much has changed.

Oh so no level reqs? Cool

The Combat Update especially changed the whole games balance, those days are thankfully long gone.

It’ll depend on the guild, but there are many if not most that have no level requirements. Check the Guild Promotion board in game!
