Returnee asking for Dragoon path/build

Hey guys, I quit the game back when Earth Tower first came out and noticed there’s a lot of changes. Now I decided to try the game out again and I can’t decide what path/build would be efficient.
I decided to make a Dragoon, I have a few questions and I hope you can answer them:

  1. How good is Swordman 3? Like how big is the gap between Gung Ho lv 15 and Gung Ho lv 5?Does it scale well/even noticable?

  2. Is it okay to ditch Hoplite 3 and only take Hoplite 2? I’ll probably use Pike over Spear most of the time, because I like 2h more than 1h + Shield, so the c3 attribute wouldn’t matter that much for me, except for Stabbing, I guess.

  3. Which path would you recommend me to choose along with the reasons behind it:
    a. Sw3 -> Hop3 -> Dragoon3
    b. Sw -> Pelt -> Hop3 -> Barb -> Dragoon3
    c. Sw3 -> Hop2 -> Barb -> Dragoon3
    d. Sw -> Pelt -> Hop2 -> Barb -> Dopp -> Dragoon3

I kinda want to build it solely for boss killing, so I would prefer it to achieve maximum dps window rotation. But I haven’t play the game long enough to understand which build would be the best for such role. Or you can give me the reason not to do such thing and convince me to like take Peltasta 2/3 for, idk, end game/farm/utility. Thank you.

I’ll recommend sw1 pelt2 hop3 goon3. pelt2 is because guardian has almost full uptime, and the attribue at c2 reduce receive damage by 20 % when guardian is up.

I use Pelt 2 Hop3 Dragoon 3.

Using a T0 +16 Primus spear, it’s more than enough to deal DPS even with T0 weap because you can fight velcoffer and take all hits head-on.

Pike is stronger, but spear+shield is much more stable.

You don’t have to run around a lot, passive block and trade hits with velcoffer will eventually lead to a decent DPS

b. Sw -> Pelt -> Hop3 -> Barb -> Dragoon3 is the best, Cleave + Dragon Soar is wonderful.

I don’t have a dragoon but, I think you maybe should consider :
e. Sw2 -> Hop3 -> Dopp -> Dragoon3
For using Pike, full STR for PvE. I believe that Dopp’s Cyclone and DoV are better for AoE content, while Sw3 can be better at Boss fights due PB; DS. I would search for crit rate and AoE+ items and cards for this build.
f. Sw -> Pelt2 -> Hop3 -> Dragoon3
For spear and shield, full CON for PvE/PvP. I think this build uses better block chance from finestra, CON, High Guard and shield, while providing some damage. I would search for CON and Defense items and cards for this build.

I dislike the fact that the buff from Dopp comes with a downtime, so I don’t know, I’m not feeling it, still considering it nonetheless.
I actually was about to make Pelt2 into Hop3 before I got indecisive, might test it to see the performance.

Yes, I love Cleave debuff for Soar. I think I’m set on Barb on the build, I don’t know what else to take tho. Would hop2 be enough so I can take another class? I’ll only miss like C3 Stabbing’s Attribute and 20% more damage to medium mobs which I think is okay?

Does block prevent you from getting flinched when you’re getting hit by mobs? Because that mechanic is one of my reasons of quitting the game back then xD.

hmm autoblocking doesn’t stop my stabbing so I suppose so

I just hate how (because of finestra) all spear builds basically have to go hoplite.

On the other hand, with goon3 being what it is, the goon kit should be able to carry all ranks of your swordie. The problem is nothing at r2-6 really gives more than hop3. Pelt2 for guardian is like hop2 for finestra exect finestra is both offensive and defensive.

I personally want a cata but it’s not as competitive as hop.

That’s because we are too obsessed with dps. I’m a sw1-pelt2-baba3-dragoon3 and I don’t miss being a hoplite in my dragoon.

It’s not just the crit. We get a substantial amount of block. More than the block we could get from high guard (which I feel is nuts and ridiculously outdated).

I mean when you’re trying to position yourself and you can’t turn back because the mobs hit you and you ended up hitting air or if you get hit while sprinting it cancels out the sprint, Pain Barrier nullifies those flinches. I don’t know about block, if it does the same thing then it’s pretty neat.

I personally wouldn’t take it if it’s not for Finestra and Spear Lunge and no other classes in the same ranks would prove to have a better job as a support for Dragoon imo.

I think I’m dead set on between Sw-Pelt2-Hop2-Barb-Goon3 and Sw3-Hop2-Barb-Goon3, just can’t decide which one I’d like the most.

The flinch still there but it’s only minor. I think you underestimating pelt2 value because you haven’t been to velcoffer nest. Swordie pretty much can fight velcoffer heads on with guardian buff. Hence more swordie even doppel, lancer ditched sw2-3, highlander for pelt1-2-3.

Go for the first build even if you’re using 2h spear.

Pelt 2 is also a good idea in team play, specially velcoffer.

Being able to hold your ground and taking all hits while keeping velcoffer in position+pavise boosts everyone’s DPS.

That said, you aren’t locked into shield always.

You take Peltasta 1/2 for guardian which makes you very tanky in whatever situation. I’ve seen Pelt1>hop3>barb 1 too, it works nicely.

My dragoon in velc does not need to eat any heal tiles with 20k def and mdef, I’m just included in mass heals.

I wanted to build similar to that which is exchanging one rank of Hop for Sw3, I don’t like Dopp because of downtime. But yeah, probably just gonna end up leveling another Dragoon with Pelt2/3 and making it a farmer if I can’t farm comfortably with no Swash.

I also roll with sw1 - pelt2 - hop3 - goon3, all around proper tank with high damage.
