Restrictions: General Discussion

Seems it’s fallen off recent discussion with some promise of change (Saw recent kToS announced change regarding team storage), new issues like the Steam fraud, and the new discounted DLC (more support to IMC myself because I needed a stat/skill reset that there is no means to move from an alt).

Not looking to promote toxic behavior. Let’s just have a civil discussion on the points. As time has gone on, my own view of the restrictions have softened a little. Sure they don’t affect me very much, if I so choose to. There are work arounds to trading (Such as Talt for cards or other low-mid value items) but they’re limited. But there are clear flaws (Price brackets that do not reflect true market values, such as Dilgeles and other low level material/consumables).

I think the current point of interesting discussion is to see how you guys have changed. Has your opinion stayed the same on these restrictions? Now that time has gone on, were you content and not affected early on and supported IMC’s decisions only to have changed to see that the restrictions have taken away from your enjoyment?
Are you like me where the restrictions were extremely bothersome, but have had it soften up to some extent?

General Reminder of Restrictions:
48 Hour delay of Silver via Market
Trade count Limit
Potential Loss, Team Storage (May be changing soon)
Untradeable Recipes/Mats after one transaction
Unable to trade things that can otherwise be moved around some other way, E.g Cards
Silver is not tradeable directly
General requirement to enable trading and reduce heavy taxes or other restrictions, E.g Market listing/tax
Market Price Bracket

My opinion is still the same, I have just been silent as id rather not make a new thread when many exist for the topic, but those threads have slowed down so you don’t see it discussed much lately.

My opinion is that of ■■■■ these restrictions.

I mean yes I generally agree, restrictions suck. And the alternative to not having them never seemed to affect me much. Claims of destroyed in-game economies have all had other direct p2w methods anyways (Ragnarok/Archeage come to mind). Bots and RMTers might be part of the issue but the producers just hop on the wagon to “combat” it anyways. Who wants to compromise their account when there’s perfectly sanctioned ways to turn money into in-game currency.

But, the point is, how has it affected you now with some play time under our belts. Have you really ran into several issues with moving items between yourself or your friends? The 48 hour delay for example may be annoying and pointless (the silver already exists in-game if it was gained illegally, it’s very existence hurts the economy, delaying silver doesn’t do much. Bots could buyout entire markets and IMC hasn’t shown the type of resource to be able to remedy a scenario like that) but since we all have to deal with it, it’s just that, waiting 2 days for our silver. How’s that really affecting you?

Yes it is a pain.

Not being able to buy materials for my friends either is annoying as they can only be traded once. (on most games i better at earning money then my friends)

Extremely annoying when i see a decent price on something but can’t claim my silver to buy it :unamused:

On that note not being able to price things as i see fit on the market is the MOST annoying restriction. Especially when the price brackets ■■■■ up or reset every patch.

Yeah, I miss so much a way to trade cards and monster gems.

Which is also badly needed as they are items that are extremely useless unless with the appropriate classes.

Everything is pretty simple: All these restrictions are based on total ignorance and lack of professionalism.

If you want to fight bots and RMT - do it.

  • Hire professional GMs to handle reports every day.
  • Assign few staff members to daily monitor suggestions and feedback section and give answers when people are asking for them.
  • Hire few professional coders to modify game security whenever new bot\exploit is found.
  • Fire all your managers and hire people from our planet at least.

That’s what i think about this topic.

My opinion remains the same: Most of the restrictions are perfectly fine. The only thing that needs a real change is team storage, which is getting changes.

I’m glad you can’t resell materials you buy off the Marketplace. People would just hoard things then resell them at absurd values. It would be so easy to do as well.

Silver should also be team based and not character based, but maybe we’ll see that change as well.

My opinion was that the restrictions didn’t bother me.

However there are certain things that bug me now.

One of them is something you already mentioned. Low level mats having some really high lower limit to where its unsellable. This makes no sense to me.

Team storage needs to be able to transfer even untransferrable items, except for quest items. Such as enchant scrolls, exp tomes, cube drops, skill reset, possibly cosmetics. Untradeable recipie drops should be transferable with team storage too. If you get something you cant use, you could at least use it on an alt. Silver would be nice to transfer, but you can still transfer gear with potential loss. I dont think it should use up trades.

The only other thing that bothers me is that they implement some of these restrictions, such as the limited trade so they can stop the RMT. Then they implement dungeon limit so you cant farm items til they are worthless. These make sense, but then they make certain high level cube drops untradeable. This is the part that makes no sense to me. All drops should be tradeable with these restrictions.

Another way they could make the above isssue better, is instead of dropping untradeable recipies and equipment they should drop quest items. There can be more involved in this quest than just getting the quest item, but the reward can be whatever version of the item you choose. Example is getting an item for some orange armor. Once you complete the quest you can get the plate, leather or cloth version of the recipie. Your choice.

This is all that has changed with my view on this.

There are some collections that need cards: http://www.tosbase.com/database/collections/111/

I think it wasn’t implemented yet, but how about the future? Trade will help a lot…

The restrictions hurt your playerbase more than they hurt bots

And when your anti bot measures are hurting your player base than its time for change.

The two days on silver is ABSURD if you insist on having a timer cut it down to 24 hours at the least

I feel like not being able to trade silver is fine but if you’re gonna have that system in place dont penalize the market board so badly

Not being able to resell materials stings to as it prevents flipping

Give them five trades like most pieces of gear

Agreed. The the lack of silver trading and then such restrictions on the market are pretty silly. A lower timer on receiving silver would be much appreciated. I really can’t imagine they thought they could track “bad transactions” manually in those 48 hours.

People who make the point that it delays the manner in which goldbuyers would be able to influence the market is rather silly. The Goldsellers already have farmed the silver and thus if the desire to do so arose, they could buy up the market in a flash anyways. I doubt IMC has ever or will ever just tell every legitimate seller “we’re returning you your items cuz bots bought them”. That kind of oversight on all the servers just doesn’t seem realistic. And if it did the true solution would be a rollback rather than manually or even some god sent systematic way to undo all the sales. Therefore if the true solution is a roll back anyways, why even delay us the silver in the first place

My opinion about restrictions hasn’t changed a bit.
I think that @thebloodyaugust, @Dinadin and @raikouski are right.
@jonathansilva just explained why the market delay is a joke.

Finally, I’d say that players are getting what they deserve.
When said players eat the usual sh*t of the video game industry, I’m half surprised that they’re happy with theses restrictions and even ask for more…
We’re all losing in the end but, hey, players like to show their gratitude to the editors/developers by white-knighting them.

On the bright side we have some progress in the new patch notes. It is a good start hopefully they continue to remove restrictions.
