Replace Evasion on Dex with + Move Speed

I think this is a pretty decent suggestion to make the DEX stat still desired and true to form (being more dexterous would make you faster, sorta) without having it be a must-have stat.

Movespeed would be valuable for kiting and just giving yourself evasion through character placement while still providing crit and accuracy, like a DEX stat should. This also gets rid of the inherent tankiness the stat provides and forces people to either kite or spec into CON to be tankier, as they should have to.

Its not wildstar to run from line of fire.
With your idea almost all range skills would have to be remake to be able to kit (drop auto aiming of them).
ToS have good system of weaknesses. If you go full Dex for evasion you will die from single mage spell (magic always hits), but you will kill everybody who based on phy dmg not Dex. And phy users will rape mages who have low def/dex to have enough SP/Matk to do their work. So no its not idea for this game. Want more action? Moving? Play something else.

You don’t have to auto aim, you can toggle that on and off. I use a controller, so I don’t know how it works on keyboard (it’s in one of the loading screens), but you can lock onto targets or switch targets based on proximity.You wouldn’t have to rework range skills at all.

The problem with dex/evasion is only being weak to magic is not good enough, since magic mobs are few and far between compared to physical mobs. The biggest problem with Dex builds is how it relates to swordsmen whose natural HP scaling makes them EXTREMELY tanky as well as getting all the benefits from DEX.

ToS doesn’t have a good system of weaknesses. Mabinogi pre Generation 9 had a good “rock-paper-scissors” system of weaknesses. ToS would be better balanced if DEX was fixed so it wasn’t abusable by Highlanders/Barbs/pure damage Swordsmen classes.

Instead of nerfing their HP scaling to make them overall less useful, which is punishment for Peltastas/Hoplites/Rodeleros who aren’t getting OP off of their HP, fixing DEX to not provide evasion is a better alternative.

This game is not meant to be played standing still, which is why there are so many AoEs and traps. I don’t know how you can think anything else, there’s so much space-denial from bosses and normal mobs to convince you that standing still and evading is NOT how the game is supposed to be played. Evasion procs much, much, much much, more often than block too and you need a shield to be able to block.

Evasion needs to be fixed, this is a suggestion.

Ok. So your idea based on that you can avoid getting hit by kite. But how you want kit something that will auto hit you (like any archer base atk where you just have to hold down attack key, run whole map and game targets enemy for you)? Almost all single target skills go straight to target, which can be locked or changed with single key press (for players). And mobs dont have to press anything they just shoot and it homing to you. So to make your idea working all skills have to be free from targeting.

I dont know what lvl you are but there are plenty of magic mobs later on. In Mage Tower fire hits hard. And on every map there is at least 2 magic users. Sure not at lvl 60 but hey have will have at least 500lvl - more than enough places to die from magic.

No this game isnt action:

  1. 99% skill root you, even if there is no cast time.
  2. Many skills are in form of tiles, traps, beacons, flags, totems name it. So in our interest is to keep enemy in one spot, not running whole map. If you play in party in most of cases if you arent aggro holder you have to just stand behind boss and look from time to time on aoe. If you are singleplayer well all focus on you and you sometimes have to run a lot. But hey its mmo not singleplayer game.
  3. Controls isnt made for hardcore kiting - what see some of this play gunz or s4, even ghostX have more action than this.
  4. Already most of bosses “damage areas” arent working good enough and or are too small (and you get hit even without being in radius), or show up too slow, so you cant avoid it in time, or there are no any and you still get dmg.

Whole problem as i see is that you have seen some HL/Barbs with dex who killed everything without hit, and you want nerf whole stat because of that. Problem is that going str/int is for now waste of points because of scaling. If IMC lower HL/Barbs dmg (and adding higher CD so they more Autoatk and not skill spamming), and make them choose between eva surv with crappy dmg from dex or nice dmg from str problem will end. With much less work. Useless work.
