Yeah, let’s make Chrono, Wizard C3, Sage, Linker and Thaumaturge useless, because Pardoner totally didn’t do that with Paladin & Krivis; difference being now there’s 5 Supports to throw in the bin .

I find it funny, how one person can:

  • See the anouncement about the class that can be possiby bad.
  • Speak for the community demanding something.
  • Proceed to personal attacks saying that anyone with a different opinion is stupid.
  • Still consider himself having “at least half a brain”.

Ok, maybe a half. Not more.

Eh Most of Thaumaturges power is locked behind Attributes.
300 attack is locked behind attributes which a scroll can’t give.
Including the Attack Weakened attribute and the physical/magical property reduction attribute. Swell Brains Power comes from its attribute as well.

Scrolling Thauma would be pretty weak compared to an actual Thauma.

I’m not speaking for the community. What i said is:

Anyway, there’s many topics about pardoner out there. And i don’t need to know if the class is bad or good, i’m talking about SCROLLS and a class that makes SCROLLS

The whole purpose of a class system in an mmorpg is to encourage DIVERSE parties and ROLES for each player. With magic scrolls from this class and pardoners, you basically remove other classes from the game because you don’t need them to use their skills when you can do it yourself. Do not alienate your classes. By doing so, you alienate your players.

Implying Thauma doesn’t already lose its steam as levels go by and the class has no scaling. 300 Attack is ridiculously low as an amout after R7.

And here I just- don’t- even- effin care. Even with the ability to just buy cheap scrolls, Wizards won’t be extinct, they will still be around, at least, my Wizard will. Please just don’t think that everyone is the same, especially don’t think that everyone has the same mindset as yours. Most of us, if not, at least half of us, prefer to have skills that are available to use 24/7 and free of silver rather than buy scrolls all the time.

I see this new class (Enchanter) as the perfect balance…
I mean, if you can buy scrolls & buffs from pardoner instead of having a specific buff class in your party then, you can suffer the same fate as them (cleric’s classes) now… huehuehue

What is your wizard exactly? Wizard C3 Elementalist C3 Warlock?

Yep, @ryouskun.
/20characters.

I’m kinda puzzled at why they though putting scrolls on yet another profession was a good idea, seeing as it didn’t turn out as well as they thought on pardoner either. I do remember them saying something in that regard, at least.

Keyword after rank 7.
To put it another way.

154 is the amount of rank 15 Swell Left.
150 is gotten from attributes, for 304 total.
You’re losing out on nearly half the power of the buff without an attribute, more-so if its under level 15.

111 is what Swell Right gives to Attack for Dagger users.
150 is what its attribute benefits. So you’re losing more then half the potential of the spell without the attribute, more-so under level 10.

So 265 vs 565.
An i330 Rod has 334 magical attack without upgrades.
Swell Brain gets 100 from attributes vs 45 from just stats.
You lose quite a lot without attributes particularly because unlike Blessing/Concentrate, this is Attack which means it’s affected by all your multipliers.

300 attack is certainly a lot when its being spread amongst 5 people.
That’s 1500 attack lost amongst the party and thousands of potential dps lost depending on the parties damage rate.

You do realize it’s hard losing your wizard’s support effectiveness to scrolls when you’re already not a support whatsoever. “I don’t care because I’m not concerned by the problem” isn’t an argument, it’s a statement of selfishness.

No. You don’t play the game just because you want to support people, you play the game because you want to have fun. Believe me or not, there will still be people around who will still be letting Wizards with the same exact class build as mine in the same party as theirs, especially my friends.

And yet yesterday I saw an entire party complaining about their healer playing Paladin because his healing “wasn’t optimal” and “he could’ve played a more useful class” and should “just buy the scrolls off the market”.

Also I see nobody complaining about Swordman not playing Peltasta either right? Because ToS has such a healthy fun community who cares about people having a choice in their build and having “fun” when they play .

Obviously some will still play the wizard classes that can be scrolled, the same way some still play Krivis as Clerics.
(But most Krivis classes are scroll-mules…)

But this game mechanic is quite stupid anyway.
This game has lots of classes that all bring different things. The fun is in building your own character that will bring something different to the party.
Scrolls make it so even if you want a certain skill you don’t have to go that path, and can still be something else.
It’s practical, but it turns some classes in some “scroll mules” instead of being classes you have to take if you want to fill a specific role.

This is MMO’s in general.
Class based games rarely work well because of balance concerns funneling the playerbase into a small section of classes when they have to deal with the social repercussions of their choices.
Unless you limit choice enough, which Tree of savior does not do at all (in regards to classes).

Still doesn’t justify amplifying the issue further by getting rid of the utility of arguably five classes at once.
