Remove class restrictions for two handed swords

If I want to rock a two handed sword on my cleric as a paladin, as a wizard, or hell, even an archer (weapon swap),
Why shouldn’t I be able to?

I like two handed swords, but I don’t particularly like the warrior class and its lack of survivability skills. (Disgusting)

Two handed swords offer powerful attack damage that any class should use, even if it is just for aesthetic purposes…
In diablo 3, anyone can use a 2h sword, (inb4,i know, this isn’t diablo 3)
But the ability to use 2h swords on any class would be a welcome addition to me and probably for many.

Who’s with me?!

I wouldn’t mind to see Cleric using a 2handed mace or something but wizards and archers using 2h swords in this game is too much.

That would be removing a specialty of a class (in this case, highlander/barb) and giving it to everyone, and it’s also a helpful indication of what kind of class someone picked at a glance.

It is of a similar logic like, let’s let cleric use bows. But bows are the specialty, the class identifier of archers, if one wants to use a bow then they make an archer.

There are many classes in the game, and giving them these kind of special weapons helps create appeal for those particular classes. (I personally went hoplite to use a spear, I would not have chosen the class otherwise.)

If everybody could use class specific weapons, we would all be Clerics with bows.

Giving the ability to hold 2h swords to all classes, would make the swordsman tree a little less special.

People sure do love to make references to Diablo 3.

@Fleeur No, you’re a troll, period. Diablo 3 isn’t the only game I’m referring to. Grow up. And I’m certain I’m not the only one who wants this, as much as others may disagree with my opinion.

@annismule1 True… but… swordsman skills synergize with two handed swords, and cataphract skills synergize with spears, and so forth.

I love my cleric to death, but I really hate having to see him use a mace. One handed swords aren’t much better. I’d love to see the use of a two handed sword on him.

Of course, with archers and wizards, a two handed sword may not do anything for them, power and stats-wise, so it can be as if you’re not wearing a weapon at all, without the MAtk given from say, rods or staves, since you’re not using a weapon suited to your skills.

If I was able to use a 2h sword on my battle cleric, I don’t get to use any skills that use a 2h sword for my guy in the same way that a barbarian or doppelsoldner uses, but the aesthetic of having one on my character is something I highly value. I would also be able to use the power of the 2h swords in my auto attacks that I use every now and then (perhaps, to a lesser extent that keeps the swordsman class unique).

But damn tl;dr: I’d just like to have it for the looks and the roleplaying factor heh.

Okay, clerics with bows… I can see why that is a problem, but of course, there would be class balancing to do should said restrictions were removed. More work on devs, however, I’d love to see the different classes wielding a variety of different weapons so everyone doesn’t look the damn same using the same weapons imho, lol

Isn’t the idea of this game to create your own unique class and build?
What if I like 2 handed swords and healing, but don’t like having to use maces as a cleric?
If I like 2 handed swords, but don’t like the skills offered in the warrior class,
then I guess that’s just my luck, huh?

Edit: okay, I suppose my opinion is unpopular, so I will refrain from posting any further. I could settle for a two handed mace for clerics.

I just saw a lvl 25 Cleric1/Krivis1 with a 2H sword on the US Orsha server just now. When I asked him how he equiped the sword he just said “i think you have to advance to certain class. Idk which though” and he logged out :fearful:
