Remapping controls

It appears that currently there is no way to freely re-map controls in game - there are three preset options to choose from, and apparently, as someone has found in another topic it’s possible to re-map them via editing the configuration files.
Still, many players don’t like the idea of having to tinker with game files and it would be awesome to allow full, or at the very least - partial mapping of controls normally, through options menu.

Also, many PC players have gaming mice with multiple buttons, it’s kind of a waste if you can only use the predefined control scheme.

I know this is kind of a hassle, but you could always remap your gaming mouse to the buttons that are preset in the game. At least for now, until they put a way to remap it in game.

I know, been using that workaround (mapping keyboard keys to mouse buttons) in several low-budget f2p MMOs that never bothered with proper controls or good UI in the first place. It’s just that I hope ToS will live up to expectations, comfortable and customizeable controls being one of them.

It was really difficult for me at the beginning, mainly to get accustomed with which F(number) opens which tab. “Inventory” opening in F2 and not in I, or “Skills” opening in F3, not in K… I can’t stand it, but the worst is attacking with Z and jumping with X, while you talk with NPC using Space. Cuztomizable remap of the controlls would be great. I preffer my skills being on numbers and F(numbers) like almost all MMORPGs…

Btw, it would be good if we could “end NPC conversation” when walking away from him. It’s a paint to press space all the time just to end the conversation… and then starting a new one because you pressed too much.

Changing the “Normal Attack” key to “Y” doesn’t work.
Any clue what I’m doing wrong?

me too, I used the keyboard but I prefer X to attack and Z to jump and many times I got mixed up, it is also difficult to target-lock a boss or elite mob because in many cases it’s surrounded by its minions

Guess I’ll be using mouse controls for now until this is fixed.

You need to find this

HotKey ID=“NormalAttack” Name=“일반 공격/UI 선택 모드 : 좌클릭” DownScp=“None” UpScp=“None” Key=“Z” UseShift=“NO” UseAlt=“NO” UseCtrl=“NO” OnEdit=“NO”/>

And change it to from Z to Y

HotKey ID=“NormalAttack” Name=“일반 공격/UI 선택 모드 : 좌클릭” DownScp=“None” UpScp=“None” Key=“Y” UseShift=“NO” UseAlt=“NO” UseCtrl=“NO” OnEdit=“NO”/>

And since you’re goign to swap weapons for sure.

Change

HotKey ID=“WeaponSwap” Name=“무기 스왑” DownScp=“WEAPONSWAP_SWAP_EQUIP()” UpScp=“None” Key=“Z” UseShift=“NO” UseAlt=“YES” UseCtrl=“NO” OnEdit=“NO”/>

To

HotKey ID=“WeaponSwap” Name=“무기 스왑” DownScp=“WEAPONSWAP_SWAP_EQUIP()” UpScp=“None” Key=“Y” UseShift=“NO” UseAlt=“YES” UseCtrl=“NO” OnEdit=“NO”/>

You need to save the XML file and restart the game.

Also be sure to check for overlaps so

HotKey OnEdit=“NO” UseCtrl=“NO” UseAlt=“NO” UseShift=“NO” Key=“Z” UpScp=“None” DownScp=“QUICKSLOTNEXPBAR_EXECUTE(15)” Name=“퀵슬롯16” ID=“QuickSlotExecute16”/>

Changes to

HotKey OnEdit=“NO” UseCtrl=“NO” UseAlt=“NO” UseShift=“NO” Key=“Y” UpScp=“None” DownScp=“QUICKSLOTNEXPBAR_EXECUTE(15)” Name=“퀵슬롯16” ID=“QuickSlotExecute16”/>

Wouldn’t hurt to actually read the OP >_<
I’m aware you can tweak the xml, I want it available in-game, as proper MMOs nowadays do.

then it would probably dont hurt you to check the forum sections.

you posted here in “Beta Test - General” section.
If this is a Feedback Suggestion, it should be placed under “Beta Test - Feedback”. :wink:

Except at the time I created this topic, no one could post in Feedback section, because categories were broken.
Any mods that could transfer the topic to the appropriate section, please, since apparently, someone finally fixed the Feedback section?

Eh maybe there was some overlap, but I didn’t see it.
Anyway moving with arrow keys and aiming with the mouse if much more convenient than playing fully with the keyboard anyway.
Especially since ranged classes require some precision.

They really need to add a legit in-game system to allow remapping controls. Hopping from Z autoattack to A for skills back and forth feels so inefficient when I’d rather have it at like Q and numbers and push my pots a little down, I prefer my hand more spread out. I read the other method by changing the XML document and it’s not really efficient because your files get reset after every update which means that it’s not the intended method for remapping controls.

Well, you can always have a backup copy of your keymappings, but that can hardly called even a band-aid solution.
We badly need a key remap UI!
