Regarding Tank swordmen

greetings. just a small question for everyone who is a
petalsta cicle 3.

i would like to ask if you could please confirm with me the Doubt stated on this post regarding the skill

                  called High guard.

For the damage multiplier, there are two possibilities about how it works :

  • Let’s say, you raise your Umbo Blow to level 10 with level 50 damage attribute with additional atack from STR and equipments. With that setup, you should deal around 500-600 damage. If you use High Guard, you should deal around 1500-1800 damage to mobs. If it works this way, then it’s great.
  • Another possibility is, your 500-600 damage is reduced to half, which is 250-300 damage, then it gets multiplied by 350% and deals 900-1100 damage. If it works this way, then it’s between decent to crap.

this is an old post, i just would like to know of any update regarding this matter.

is a petalsta with high guard yes or no an excelent dps while focusing on Tank? or at least decent damage with this ?

my goal is to understand if this is the best method to reach the level 280 by taking swordman < petalsta< petalsta < petalsta< squire < squire < squire.

Currently i’m trying out Swordman< petalsta< hoplite< cataphract < squire < squire<squire, currently level 82.

i’m starting to have my regrets and wondering if hoplite is useless unless you reach c 2 or c 3. there really doesn’t seem to be any much of a point into having a + 50 critical rate and not a “percentage” increase while concidering it’s not much of an effect during grinding when a cataphract skill takes forever to make direct contant while casting.

literary choose hoplite c 1 for only a + 50 critical rate with finestra level 5, i’m starting to think that this is a Poor build choice to overcome the 280’s. and now i’m wondering if

swordman<petalsta<petalsta<cataphract<squire<squire<squire is better
or if
swordman<petalsta<petalsta<petalsta<squire<squire<squire is better.

so far i have made a

swordman<highlander<highlander<highlander - flamini
sowrdman<petalsta<hoplite<petalsta - grand spoonton + beetle shield
sowrdman<petalsta<hoplite<cataphract - lydeka

since there’s too much information and i couldn’t seem to get anywhere after being overcome with lack of knowledge, i decided to do this through trial and error by trying out all of this
and all of this builds are Focused on STR and DEX 1:1 pure builds.

what to do for a soloer like me to overcome the 280’s and reach squire c3.

i really hope i can find in you guys a response on this matter. i am losing my own footstep on what to do next.

any word from you guys appreciated, Thank you for your time.

Honestly, I just grabbed Cafrisun Set and an Arde Dagger. Then threw everything into constitution. Level 124, results have been fine so far. Can casually whack away all higher level monsters. Don’t even need to use buffs or skills to take no damage or deal damage. I occasionally use Pain Barrier to prevent knockup/backs

I use 3 Tanks: Utility (Peltasta3>Squire2>Templar) , Hard Tank (Peltasta3>Rodelero3) and a DPS Tank (Peltasta2>Rodelero2>Fencer2)

These are all built as Full CON

Heres the Pros and Cons:
Utility
PROS

  • Umbo Thrust + Arrest Combo destroys armor
  • Max Swash Buckling (22 enemies at max per taunt)
  • Is able to take any damage thrown at you with your ridiculous HP pool
  • Won’t be deadweight in Raids (DPS Guild Masters tend to be fodder when doing Higher lvl raids)
  • ET Viable due to pelt3

CONS

  • Expensive upkeep (Repairs/Camping Kits/Food)
  • Literally NO DAMAGE
  • You cant kill anything alone
  • Less CC
  • Magic wrecks you and you need a cleric when dealing with magic enemies

Hard Tank
PROS

  • Magic Defense (due to Slithering)
  • Highest Tanking possibility
  • Lots of CC
  • Able to Solo albeit slower

CONS

  • No damage later on
  • Other than tanking you’re cucked when other swordsmen don’t turn off provoke as they WILL mess up your aggro management
  • Requires Micromanagement of debuffs

DPS Tank
PROS

  • More DPS than the other tanks
  • Evasion boosts from Fencer Skills
  • Has Slithering
  • Has CC and Damage dealing skills

CONS

  • Rank 8 will lock you to either pelt3 or fen3
  • Less lvls in Slithering
  • Rapiers tend to break alot
  • Fencer is still underpowered and mostly unused.
