Regarding Hihglander's skills while mounted

Greetings…!

Despite the “trolling” I´m exposing myself in this thread, in really like and enjoy the swordie class… specially the “dps” build branch available with Highlander.

I´ve build a Swordsman-C1 -> Highlander-C3 -> Cataphract C1. And I´m still thinking whether to go Doppel or Cata-c2 for Rank 6, because I´m aiming to Dragoon.

The thing is, I´m wondering if anyone else is having a hard time with Highlander´s skills “dismounting penalty” while riding a pet… The skills Catar Stroke, Crosscut and Vertical Slash CAN be used while riding, but then they cause my character to dismount, rendering hard to re-mount and continue the combo skills of either Highlander (Skyliner, Moulinet) or the Cata skills…

I think that Swordies had enough problems as they are (so damn nerfed in comparison to other “dps” classes), so having this mount “penalties” makes them even less appealing and make general swordie gameplay, way to complicated and a real headache… I mean, not only you are “forced” to go Pelt to be “usefull” in party, but you are forced to choose either to be a “grounded” swordie or a “mounted” swordie.

So, please (devs), make swordies great again!!! I´m not saying to OP them, but release the mount penalties… if any class, by rpg´s logic, is going to be the “mounted” class, that has to be the swordsman classes.

Thanks and good day, Pubic Chat…!

P.S. If anyone is going to make fun of my swordie class, I´ll let you know that i’ve outpass some OP Quarrel shooters and Elementalist on boss killing ranking in Mercenaries Missions… So, yeah, Swordies CAN dps… I think.

This game is horribly plagued by skill restrictions. Especially Swordsmen with their lack of automatic weapon swap, persistent buffs removed upon swapping weapons, and IMC’s fetish for mounted classes that can only use spears.

There’s no real reason for most skills to not be usable while mounted. Sure, Sapper skills, or Quarrel Shooter’s Pavise should dismount you, that makes sense. But very few Swordsman skills make any sense. At the end of the day I think it’s just laziness on IMC’s part, not wanting to animate more skills for both mounted and unmounted.

Like, look at Hakkapalle. A melee archer class is released, everyone thinks oh this seems like something that might finally work well with Rogue, but no, virtually all Rogue skills dismount you. Really dumb.

Yep, as an archer main who doesn’t play rogue but was thinking about it, Hakka seems to be MADE for rogue, I mean, ffs, they let you backstab with a sword now AND a hakka skill literally exposes the target’s back to you. You’d think you could backstab while on a mount now right? LOL nope.

I was considering leveling a Rogue->Hakka just because surely logically IMC would be working on making Rogue skills usable while mounted, but considering it’s IMC I’m holding off anyway. Why put in the effort for something that may never happen no matter how logical it is. I already did that by making a Corsair3 under the logical assumption that it would be possible to take a rank 8 class afterwards.

What I do when I need to change weapons is put them in the skill slots :3

then create a click pattern for yourself to follow :wink:
