Real players affected by bot problem and report feature

Edit 4/19: IMC posted an awesome article today on how the report bot system works and it’s worth a read. Definitely alleviated my concerns!

To start, I think the report bot feature is great, we needed it. However, IMC needs to start acting upon these reports ASAP. Get rid of the bot problem.

The problem is that many real players are assumed to be bots by fearful people wanting to report bots. As a Cleric out solo leveling, I often have players standing around just watching me to see if I’m a bot. I don’t know if they report me because they don’t even talk to me to ask. I hope they’re not reporting me but it’s gotten to the point where I feel like I have to change my behavior to try to prove I’m not a bot.

But this is a grinding game where we’ll be running back and forth in circles killing the same mobs over and over, looking like bots even when properly playing the game. I shouldn’t have to alter my behavior because people are paranoid and I now have to be afraid that I will be wrongfully reported or even banned.

I’ve even seen other people say that they’ve had numerous players actually report them as bots and tell them so. This is truly getting out of hand when real players are afraid to play the game.

IMC, please handle this bot problem or make some sort of statement to reassure us that we don’t need to change how we play to avoid being wrongfully reported.

Yes hope that IMC can act alittle harder on them, they are flooding our training spot farming those materials that we can sell…

Your paranoia is baseless and has already been addressed.

No matter how many people report you you will be investigated before actions are taken. This has been said like a thousand times, and I really doubt there’s that many players “afraid to play the game”. Do people not play WoW because anyone can right click your name and report you? Come on.

Well, you don’t have to be worried. I won’t even be worrying about this if I’m a bot, as the report bot function is most likely a placebo button.

I report suspicious clerics even if they have normal names. I do some research though if its questionable.

Certain things like arde dagger and cafrisun set arent the only indicators. Since they make sense to use.

If i see uneccessary things like 2 silver bracelets. Alot of bots have those for some reason. Damaged weapon and shield and still farming. I’ll follow them a bit.

Then I watch their moving patterns. Bots have a distinct moving pattern and the way they chose targets even if they arent teleporting and meleeing every mob on the map.

If it all adds up I report them. Sometimes ill drop an anvil.

A few times I found some cleric botters with the circle 3 costume from the TP shop

Edit Also ive never seen a bot jump.

+1 to this. My boyfriend is a Champlain now and used/uses the typical equipment best for the branch,.While we see plenty of Champlain/Priest bots, I do try to stick close to him to show that we’re playing together out of slight paranoia of others reporting. Some bots have normal usernames and if they looked at his character info it may be enough for some people to report, but I hope that everyone is as careful as you are about it. It’s really a shame that the branch is basically bot ruled right now.

Don’t worry, you won’t be bothered by random reports for no reason. It’s why I’m still around.

Praised be based LoliLicker! :tada:

Look at adventuring Index as well guys! If you see a level 77 suspect with 1-2k index in a level 60~ area… thats a bot.

Before report I ask if is bot. Simple.

You can also tell a bot by its name, usually, and a lack of title. Also, if they 100% autoattack and never do anything else whatsoever.

Well that’s why I mention it because that’s really not true. I’ve seen a lot of bots with completely normal names. And a very popular Cleric/Priest build involves doing nothing but buffed up auto attacks. So you really can’t assume someone is a bot just because they’re auto attacking.

Ive just been not really paying attention whether or not people could mistake me for a bot. I usually jump once or twice if I notice someone walking up to me while im doing my thing though.

And i really try not to ks or anything but if you pull a huge train of mobs right over the top of me… im gonna start attacking them. Sorry, collections are hard.

And thats like all ive been doing when im able to play. My level has only gone up a couple in the last week becuase farming for collections is no where near effective for leveling.

So far no one has verbally called me a bot but who knows? Swordie> peltasta> hoplight seems a fairly popular choice from what ive been seeing. And I almost exclusively use normal attacks unless I group up a large enough mass of mobs to justify using stabbing. Either way. No matter how many reports you have on you, you should have nothing to fear as long as you arnt doing anything shady.

Nice try, bot xD

i have seen bots using the valk statue to warp
maybe they are warping back town to repair lol

Pretty certain that all reports are investigated thoroughly before any action(s) is taken. Don’t let it stop you from having fun!
