Rank Reset - Please Help!

Class and Rank Swordsman

Hi, I had a level 315 dopplegoon and just reset my ranks. I was super busy during the event and wasn’t able to test any builds whatsoever, so now I have a fresh swordy.

I’m wondering if anyone could give me advice on what’s currently OP / Meta for swordy (stats, skills and ranks)

I’m obviously interested in spear so lancer / drg would be great, I just don’t know what’s good anymore.

I’m also interested in shinobi/ murmillo builds if anyone can give advice there, since I have shinobi quest unlocked also.

Maybe Swordman 3 - Hoplite 3 - Doppel - Lancer will work for you, it gives Finestra and a pierce debuff.

Stats will be full Strength, but I really like to put at least 100 in dex for a smooth rotation of skill, but that’s a personal preference.

Are you more PvP or PvE oriented ?

Basically :

  • Doppel is from far far far away the strongest PvE swordsman class, nothing can compete his burst (played most of the time around B2 and / or High2/3).
  • Dragoon damages are very bad now, and they can’t compete any good DPS classes both PvE and PvP, Cataphract is also the worst DPS class with Paladin atm)
  • Lancer is very strong, his burst is enormous (classic build : sw3, cata3 jusr for trot, corsair for hook, lancer)
  • Murmillo is very strong, Rodelero is not always taken because not so strong, if you take it, take it R2. You have 2 types of Murmillo : based on shinobi or not

for builds, too many things to say, choose something first :stuck_out_tongue:

I have always been more PVE oriented, but I’d like to get into PVP.

The classic lancer and the shinobi murmillo interest me the most. Obviously the lancer is more in line with what i’m used to (2h spear), with the murmillo being something different for me.

What are the PVP prospects of these 2 builds? (and do they become completely hopeless at PVE?)

Shinobi PvE :
SW3-High3-Shino-Murmillo

High STR, low DEX, optionnal CON

Shinobi PvP (not sure for this one, Rodelero was nerfed) :
SW3-Rod3-Corsair-Murmillo

50-100 CON, 50-100 DEX, rest STR

Lancer PvP (Lancer PvE is … a wtf choice) :
SW3-Cata3-Corsair-Lancer

50 CON, 50 DEX, rest STR

Bad PvE until last rank because cata suck atm (you take it mostly for trot lol)

As for lancer being bad at PVE until max rank, I’m 315, so I’m at the final rank.

Can you expand on your suggestions a bit more? Skills that will be used, playstyle?

Lol you should’nt be listening to that guy Ashurah. There is no “best” class whatever. There is the best class that will fit your play style. There is a dragoon build that will out dps almost anyone. Heck my goon1 (rank7 that time) was rank 1 in dps every time at dun 260 even when the other guys are like lvl 270-280. Except when there’s a rank 8 warlock, I get rank 2 in dps.

My current build is focused on PVE as lancer. SW3 HOP3 Goon Lance. This can easily be a PVP build with a skill reset. I chose both maxed concentrate gung ho and pain barrier (SW3 for the buffs). You can opt for double slash, but when you get to lancer, you really won’t get to use double slash as much. For stats, I got 40 dex 60 con and 269 str. I’m trying to put at least 20 in spr for the SP pool. For trash mobs I usually just use the buffs and auto attack them lol. Finestra gives me a really good AOE buff and crit. I am actually thinking of getting yellows since I almost always crit.

And there are the other builds such as:

SW2 HOP3 DOP1 Goon2: This one is a very well rounded build, you can switch from 2 hand spear to 1 hand spear with a shield. One guy did the math and said that it can even out dps a lancer and there is even a talk that a dragoon rebalance is coming. This one is very good for bossing. Skill dethrone is designed esp for bosses. Gae bulg skill procs skills TWICE for a certain amount of time. Although, the Hop Goon path requires skill with positioning. Because if you mess up gae bulg, your rotation’s messed up. dop c1 is also very strong even with just one rank in it. DoV with Cyclone and DPE are nice to have in you arsenal.

SW3 CATA3 Dop Goon Lance: This one exchanges dps for mobility. CATA is very underwhelming when it comes to damage, but very mobile. I found it very inefficient with it’s damage output and the SP it spends for that ‘damage’. Although it’s very nice for farming mats against low level mobs.

Btw, I was dopp3 prior to getting into the spear class. Dopp is strong. Yes. But the play styll is suicidal. The skills are uhm redundant and not really fun for me.

Appreciate your feedback, but it seems you didn’t read my previous post? I currently have a level 315 Swordy, which was a dopplegoon before I reset. Being at 315, I had DRG to rank 2 and was doing great damage in all of my parties. I’m pretty experienced when it comes to that playstyle.

My reason for writing this post was that I haven’t played since the big patch, and, since I was busy working, I didn’t have time to test out any builds. So right now I have reset the ranks on all my toons and am trying to research which builds are effective for what, starting with my swordy.
