"Rank Down" erases skill points?

From the post of the dev(link below), it is written that When you use the system to go back one Rank, all the skill and attribute points you used on your latest class/circle are returned to you.

But I tried to use it on my Rank8 Necro C1 - Class lvl.14 to change to Shadowmancer…but i didn’t get the skill points i invested on my necro.

I was expecting to get a Shadowmancer C1 - Class lvl 14 with 14 unspent skill points

coz when you break down the sentence on #2:
All Skill(and Attribute) Points you used on your latest class/circle = meaning all the invested/spent skill points on my Necro C1 which is 14 points(coz Im Class lvl 14 already)

are returned to you. = returned right? not reset, not vanished, not deleted right? so Whyyyyyy? why my class lvl is 1 with 1 skill point??? where’s the other 13points that should be returned to me?
Im glad I didn’t invest on attribute points on necro yet coz it might get trashed after rank down :frowning: same with my skill points.

Im really not planning on dropping my necro since im an spr build, but Im just curious on Shadowmancer class and also the new Rank Down System

It may be a bit confusing since they put skill points beside attribute points in the text, but they aren’t actually lying.

The skill points did get returned to you, it’s just that step 3 happened after that:

3) Your total Class EXP will also reset back to the value it was right before your latest advancement.

You don’t get a class exp card like from the rank reset vouchers, so you have to regain the class exp.

It’s all pretty clear and explained in several steps though…

  1. “Revert back to the Rank you were before your last advancement” -> you were R8 Necro 1, you’ll go back to R7 class 15 before you advanced.
  2. They are returned to you. You get back all the attribute points you used on your R8 class’ attributes. The skills you had on your Necro are removed since Necro is gone, so once you’ll level again you’ll have your 15 skill points bit by bit. They weren’t erased in any way, the “returned to you” means you will not have the Necromancer’s skills anymore.
  3. Here it clearly explains it all. “will also reset back to the value it was right before your latest advancement” = your exp will go back to the value of Rank 7 class level 15.

so basically it’s like how you use rank reset. job class should either be lv1 or lv15 to avoid unnecessary loss of class level exp? ty

Your total Class EXP will also reset back to the value it was right before your latest advancement.

What was it? Ah yes. Rank X-1, Class lv.15.

They shouldn’t even have mentioned skill points, or either just plainly say that you will have to earn the class levels over again. Mentioning it alongside attribute pts is misleading, as you will have access to those attribute points but the class skills of the class you just resetted.

It’s kinda confusing saying the skills are returned to you when you won’t have those skills because you’ve changed classes. Also the fact that you can only rank down once per rank.

The Rank Down feature is clearly meant for people who misclicked on a class during advancement so they are able to go back and click on the correct class. And I’m still unsure if it allows future resets so I’m not really eager to test that on a build I plan to fully reset when the next wiz update comes out.

You can use a rank reset after using rank down, afaik. I did it with one of my archers, rolled back to Quarrel Shotter and then used the rank reset. I think you just can’t select the class you just rolled back again in that rank.

Yes you can! As stupid as it may sound, I did it.

Went mergen for rank 9, wasted attribute points in an underwhelming skill. Rerolled to rank 8, reclassed to mergen getting back all the attribute points I had wasted! Now I have to re-exp those 15 class levels, but I could use those points again

Not really, you just have to grind some more.
How is this a bad addition to the game? If you misclick a rank advancement or something and need to change your latest rank to not have to remake the character, there’s the option.

It also gave a lot of players the option to get a full rank reset some events with the drawback of losing class exp.

Not very easy on a lv350+ character since dungeons and pretty much everything gives crap xp. It’s also just really unnecessary since you can’t “abuse” it when it only allows you to do it once… IMC likes to be picky about little things too much.

The option is still there though. I recently used it on my lvl360 swordie for the rank reset, don’t care if I have to grind that rank exp up again. I won’t deny that the restrictions on it are annoying, but I won’t say it made the game worse either.
