I still don’t get why IMC is so stubbornly making their game Tree Of Restrictions. Don’t they realize that waiting for reset to play is what bores people ? You want to play but you literally can’t since everything has entry restrictions…
It’d be fine if some did and some others didn’t, I think. But except grinding in the wild, everything has them: Saalus, dungeons, ET, Challenge mode, Uphill, fishing … What’s the point @_@
I don’t know why IMC doesn’t want us to actually play their game. They sure are trying their best to prevent us from doing so.
What the game lack of is competition and difficulty. But first things first, the game needs to be able to support 30+ players in one map.
This is an old game design trick to make you come often in short sessions of play, instead of one fat tiresome 24h-ish session of play. WoW did this with the ‘non-rested’ xp penalty, daily missions, garrison system and random dungeon entry, hearthstone has it with its daily quests, candy crush goes to some extremes as to explicitly prohibit you from playing the game.
Nearly every game implements this in some fashion, but not all of them as poorly as IMC. ;T
the game is missing the fun factor.
what do you think? i think that’s one thing PUBG got down pat. and that’s why their steam charts looks like this instead:
http://steamcharts.com/app/578080
When I log in to Tree of Savior, I have no idea wtf I should be doing so I can actually advance my character and have fun. My mind draws a blank as I log out and exit the game.
Well Matador, Inqui2 and Kabba3 were the biggest failures so far
But im satisfyed with the long awaited Goon3, also Musketeer3 is gonna have a nice buff and FF3 is even better
From the new classes alone, BM was great and fun. I couldn’t test Zealot but seems to be a great class too and Shadowmancer is the perfect filler for any build that focused on buffs or long cooldown skills
It appears that I am the only player that really likes Kabbalist 3…
Kabba3 is a high IQ class, that’s why it’s not popular.
Meanwhile, I must be the only player that really likes Matador.
I keep saying this over and over again. IMC needs to advertise their game!!! No ads = nobody knows this game exists = no new players = no money for IMC = can’t pay bills
TOS is free to play. Even if it is a flawed game some people may like it. How much will it cost someone to play this game? Nothing.
Wanna know what is a Success?
R A N K R E S E T E V E N T
Makes me feel special, even though I have average IQ, or slightly above average lol.
Anyway, in exchange of damage the class brings a lot of utility and gimmicky support that makes it extremely unique. Even if the class does not do much damage, you can work around that by choosing the correct classes to cover up this flaw, even if slightly, hence why Sadhu is a very popular choice.
I have a Peltasta 3 Squire 3 Matador 2 and even though I really liked leveling it while doing the ‘cookie it up’ event I think that something is missing.
The kit the class brings doesn’t synergize well, it has a small swash buckling, a crit buff, a backslide and a counter that doesnt work properly, with two high cooldown DPS skills thrown in it.
If they for example decreased the cooldown of Muleta and made every time time you successfully counter attacked with it, the cooldown of the other skills would decrease by several seconds, the kit would be more enjoyable to use.
Faena’s infinite aoe attack ratio is amazing though.
Hmm, dumb question about this… but I really should ask.
MMO games are different from those FPS/Moba/arcade/etc games. Sure, ToS lacks some stuff that other MMOs have and etc.
But one thing I’m sure a good amount of people agrees: You for sure will have more fun on different genre of games.
All MMOs will suffer lack of contents if they don’t update their content like each 1-2 months. Almost all MMOs can feel grindy or etc.
Is what you’ve been disliking on ToS and not having fun due to MMO genre in general or just about ToS? There’s a big difference on both points of view.
For me the game is way more fun after R9, it isn’t a huge success but also isn’t a failure.
IMO it’s simple a positive progress that even if people gets tired of content/etc there are more things to do, quality of life changes and more things to play with and new classes/changes/rebalance makes most builds feel better, the only character I have the “this character is useless” feeling is a rainbow shop + scroll maker that have it’s own purpose, all the others feels nice to play now with the updates.
I will do as I did before. Mostly ignore the forums, leave when I get bored, and come back when I enjoy playing again. No I quit notices, and no downing IMC as they know whats wrong. (Besides the AMD processor issue that prevents me from doing the 340 HG. That’s annoying, but it is what it is.) As far as success, it brought me back, and as of right now I am enjoying it. They have made a lot of QoL changes that are a step in the right direction. Although the fact leveling is irrelevant now. 1-200 in less than a day more so if using event buffs is crazy. I digress, it’s been fun with my 16 slots and seeing all the class changes have made what I find most fun about this game; fun again. Character building.
Just to remind you, Kabbalist C3 didn’t really add something useful to the Kabbalist skills except for the minimum correction attributes for Double Chance and Geburah.
Geburah again is a skill that’s debuff-based, so it has a high chance to trigger on autoattacks (e.g. zombies/other summons/autoattack-Classes) or weak skills because apparently other people in the party don’t give a damn about the effect of the skill. This makes it lackluster as long as you aren’t playing lonely wolf-style or with your friends/guildmates with TS/Discord&voicechat to tell them when you’re casting it so they stop using weak skills/autoattacks.
Merkabah is still as bad as before, it even lost an attribute (petryfying cursed monsters) and if my feeling is right, the durability of the chariots was nerfed (i.e. it’s now lower than it was before with the +25 HP attribute).
The Class attributes are pretty lackluster (Kabbalah Garments locks you onto cloth armor to have any effect, 5 movement speed are cool but not useful for anything, Staff of Kabbalah has the same issue, it locks you onto onehanded mace&rod, although options with twohanded mace or sword would be possible[e.g. Pala3>Kabbalist3 or Monk2>Kabbalist3]).
Meanwhile, Revenged Sevenfold is still useless in PVE, Reduce Level is also still useless, Clone is still pretty much handicapped on any non-Bokor3 build because you won’t be able to kill the clones fast enough, Double Chance has pretty much no synergy besides Effigy&Astral Body Explosion.
Meanwhile,look at e.g. Cannoneer C3.
Not only did Bazooka get an attribute to remove its weaknesses (low aspd and short distance-disability), the other skills recieved a huge boost:
Shootdown&Cannon Shot deal double damage[problem at R8: low damage],
Cannon Barrage has 50% CD reduction for only 20% less damage [problem at R8: high CD time],
Siege Burst has +50% crit chance [problem at R8: high casting time or low dmg]
That’s a good third Circle to round up everything, overworking the lacking skills to have more impact when playing the game.
Meanwhile Kabbalist didn’t do this. All it got was more random effects via Class attributes and another debuff that’s pretty much flawed in partyplay.
The flawed skills didn’t get any attributes to make them less miserable with the exception of Double Chance, thus are still bad and not worthy of a Rank 7 Class.
If Kabbalist was a Rank 3 Class, I bet many more people would take the Class, because it’s on the level of a Rank 3 or Rank 4 Class, but not on par with Rank 7/8/9 it occupies.
Just look at Plague Doctor,Zealot,Inquisitor and Taoist, those are real Rank 7&8 Classes that don’t feel weak or out of place. They have useful and strong abilities to master the content.
If you still think that this is nonsense, how about making a char with only supports like e.g. C2Priest3Oracle3Kabbalist1 and see for yourself how useful your Kabbalist is.
It’s such a sorry Class that it has to be carried by Bokor3 or Sadhu3 to even make it to the cap alone…
Same can be said about Featherfoot, it’s C3 skill is so bad(the damage itself isn’t, but the condition is bad, as the target needs to survive 10 hits to take full additional damage). The attributes are meh, more damage while levitating is nice, and the double hit with Kundela Slash is quite good, but you need to apply at least 2 debuffs (e.g. Sleep+Curse,Petrification+Curse,Link+Curse) to trigger it, which requires the help of at least one other Class or Blood Curse/Ngadhundis decay [if it even works now].
Many FF2s reset their builds towards Shadowmancer because it’s easier to kill monsters and requires less setup {Joint Penalty+Shadow Thorn = dead) with 1 additional Rank free (e.g. Linker3>Thauma2 or Linker2>Thauma3).
Warlock C3, just look at it. Demon Scratch misses a lot, the new attributes buff Dark Theurge with 2x hits and add a fear effect to Mastema,Pole of Agony and Demon Scratch.
While it’s ok for a 3rd Circle, it’s far behind Musketeer C3, Cannoneer C3, Falconer C3 if we are concerned about how the attributes&skill effects are balanced with Rank 9 & the latest balance patches.
Obviously, the players will shift over to the Classes that are designed better because they have less flaws and synergize better with other Classes/build options/partyplay.
I’m not saying the Classes themselves are bad, but Class disparity is a thing, some Classes just keep getting better while others don’t even see an improvement and still keep fighting against the same problems that made them bad choices in the first place.
Kabbalists time to shine will come, but it won’t be until in 2 more Ranks, which is the main problem the Class has to face. Currently it’s just full of design flaws and underwhelming for occupying the last 3 Ranks regardless of build, compared to the other Rank 7&8 Classes.
they should bring this event every 2 weeks.
Not every class has to be a competitive DPS.
- Kabbalist
And why would anyone make an offensive Pala/Monk Kabbalist? Kabba3 is more oriented to supporting your allies with your math skills and you could play support Pally3Kabba3 just fine with full cloth and rod+shield. You can even deal some damage by picking Bokor3 in your build. I have a Bokor3 Kabba3 and it’s very easy to use the Gevura+Damballa setup even in Challenge Mode with my guildies. Double Chance is very, very tricky, but you can use Tet Mamak La to shoo your zombies away from a boss so you can try a setup with Double Chance. Don’t forget Kabbalist also received a new Ein Sof attribute that lets you buff two allies. Besides the super convenient SP refresh, the buff also increases HP recovery. You think Kabbalist is weak or out of place because it’s different from other classes and simply because you don’t know how to play well with it.
- Featherfoot
Again, you’re saying a class is bad because it isn’t as easy to play as the other class. FF2 lacked damage against bosses and the new skills allows you to deal some burst damage (Enervation + Blood Succ). While Shadowmancer is indeed stronger, Featherfoot has better sustain and lower mana costs and both can farm just fine.
- Warlock
Warlock’s circle 3 isn’t an issue, but the circle 2 is. I hope IMC reworks Drain and Ghastly Trail in the unannounced wizard tree rework because they’re simply useless skills. Demon Scratch is awesome. Elelock possibly is still the best AoE DPS Wizard in the game. Saying it’s “far behind” archer classes is pure nonsense, unless you’re talking about Inje Kang characters. Falconer is still going to be used after its rework because there are many beast mobs (more damage from Falconer skills), Falconer is a lot stronger as a DPS and Aiming is still going to be useful. Cannoneer and Musketeer, however, weren’t and won’t ever be as popular in PvE as Warlock is.
That if you assume IMC will keep expanding ranks past Rank 10. I hope they don’t, because building a character will become a big mess with so many ranks and you’ll have zero characterization. R10 is enough.
I think this patch is moderately successful. I can’t really think of much I dislike about it, except maybe the extreme rng factor of the HG gears and maybe Challenge Mode lag.
I’m ok with the rng itself, but I think the random stat pools could have been more customized to each weapon, so you don’t get stuff like Int on a 2H Sword, or Patk on a Rod… basically just removing stats that a specific weapon can’t make any use of at all.
(…And don’t you dare bring up Finestra’s attribute!)
As for Challenge Mode… I have an awful time trying to get my guildies to Stage 5 only because one of us winds up crashing, erroring, or getting softlocked during a group run. We’ve started to reopen the game prior to running CMs which helps, but sometimes someone will still crash.
Necros and other summoners create problems for players with poor computers in this content as well, limitting the rendering of enemies (if you have the DrawActor/Monster set to a lower number in the user files to make the game run abit easier) and making you unable to see them.
Other than that, I like the rest of the new content. The new maps have pretty incredible spawn speeds, and they even somewhat brought map-grinding back. I’ve been grinding maps to 330 alot of my older characters for practs/team level at about a character each day.
The new classes are pretty good and fun too.
…Except Matador. It’s …ok-ish. (and that’s only because of Paena
)
Lmao.
Did you even play the game during these releases? Balance has been really bad troughout the games lifespan and rank 9 was really miles better than rank 7 or 8, albeit not perfect.
Rank 8 release was extremely buggy, rushed/unfinished. Rank 7 had the big issue with swordsman classes being way weaker in every aspect of the game.
There’s also bunch of useless skills left from these 2 releases.
Rank 9 is not perfect balance wise but none of the new skills are entirely useless/utter trash that will never be used or any of the circles/classes for that matter. Even matador received a rebalance to make it better.
Sure some not so great skills were added but nothing compares to enchanters agility level of useless.
Edit: c3 being the pinnacle of the class honestly is not the initial release style for quite a lot of classes and many are still not designed like that unfortunately this is mostly true for rank6 (some 7) and lower.
(I also hope I don’t have to go into details but if I do I will.)
Will it save the game? No. Why? Because it was never supposed to, it was never expected to, what it is, is progress. It’s several steps closer to improving the game enough for long term growth.
R9 was a success, it generated some interest again, and brought about new features and content.
The new classes are fun and effective (with the update that’s coming to ITOS), they offer unique content with their quests and fulfill interesting roles.
The new unidentified equipment provides dynamic itemization and provides more objectives for players to achieve, it makes grinding more interesting. The powder system feels like I’m always collecting something and progressing in at least some way, making even a bad farming session offer some consolation, along with providing more market opportunities with another long term established material. The new crafted equipment holds unique stats which means comparisons and options, with both the equipment you choose and with the method of obtaining it.
Challenge Mode supplements the equipment system and offers a more varied farming experience, that feels rewarding.
Unique Raiding further expands on the itemization and means there is even more to do and collect for.
All of these features are interconnected, and are exactly the kind of thing we need more of. They are all unique, but they interact with each other, instead of just bloaty features tact onto the game they were made to integrate.
The new music, zones, and quests are fantastic. The atmosphere fits TOS, provides interesting story (I really like the Hauberk madness) and continues with TOS’s tradition of being beautiful.
Changes to the dungeoning system were welcome, and adjustment of mob EXP means grinding is more of a possibility again, instead of just dungeoning to 360 you must grind, or quest which means a more varied levelling experience.
The many other quality of life improvements, balance changes, and other adjustments is further progress and cleaning that needed to be done.
It’s clear R9 was a big improvement on the existent, and the new features.
However, for all the good R9 contributed, it added some big problems that IMC, and the players, are going to have to deal with, along with the other pre-existent problems.
While the new classes are fun and powerful, I have concerns about the jump in power from R8->R9 for most of them though. It means less effective earlier choices that aren’t utility, a problem we’ve seen for a while that has just been further compounded.
PVP is a mess with the new equipment and power increase from the new classes, though PVP has some fundamental problems, they were made worse with the new content.
The new itemization has its strengths, but also major weaknesses. The unidentified equipment, especially armour, is entirely unbalanced, especially when comparing to the new craftable equipment, or even cases like Solmiki Plate which is weaker than the ID equivalent. There are further major concerns I have with itemization, as Primus equipment is so easily obtained, that there is rarely a reason to ever invest in Bertas which means very narrow equipment progression, and in previous equipment levels all the previous equipment has been made obsolete which means the progression has been hurt even more. The addition of Orange grade equipment at all tiers instead of the on-off system they had before, damages it even further. There are major balance problems that have to be considered now, that IMC has caused with no easy solution as the best solution would be nerfing unidentified equipment, and removing some of the earlier Orange grade equipment again.
Questing while interesting, is still mostly unrewarding and unchallenging, with little long term benefit. Most of the new content is still too easy.
There’s still not much end game content, and still not enough systems to upgrade our characters.
Many of the existent systems are unrewarding or problematic, Awakening, Gems, Enhancement, and Transcendence (kinda) need to be reworked.
Problems with optimization, network issues, and bugs continue.
And there are still things like restrictions, or more balance problems, or communication problems from IMC and more that I didn’t address.
The point of what I’ve said, is R9 is part of the continual climb to greatness, there were major improvements, and while issues persist or were added, TOS has improved nonetheless.
I don’t know whether it should describe as success, but better definitely.
First of all, the limitation of the game, which is its game engine, is totally outdated, buggy, full of network or fps drop issue, unable to cater a true raid gameplay with >20 players, and unable to perform responsive action. So, we can’t expect more dynamic gameplay, that’s it, players have to accept it or leave it and go. The name of this game is still worth for ToS:2 though
PvP/TBL/GvG worthless to mention, mainly lies on its unbalance stats distribution, transcendence system, stack buffs and unbalance classes. Full CON is life and love, and T10 weapon/armors as well.
PvE actually very easy with T5 Weapons, HG340 is not rewarding, I found Fantasy Region is much more rewarding when you can x2-3 times kill faster than HG340. When HG340 mobs are passive, x2 HP, but only with x2 chance of drop rate.
*And I don’t Link2-Thaum3-Shadow2 is necessary, they are just a hype that everyone don’t want to lose that farming race in HG340, but eventually their main character catch up with ~50m investment and will farm much better than that in Sausys/Valandis Room.
Itemization, as much as interesting that I addicted into this feature.
I think some min-max players will go crazy, because they practically never get the maximum stats and what hurt their brain. But for casual players, most are satisfied with 2 main stats that I want that >30 roll, every-time I get better that is only incentive.
But nevertheless, I can still wearing full blue loot chance with no stats and faceroll all contents with T7 weapons. I think at this point i’m farming for fun, the excitement during identification and reroll stats, but not for min-max.
Some said “Repetitive”, every game is repetitive, Dota2 is repetitive, WoW is repetitive, PUBG is repetitive, and so on, just that in that repetitive chores what dynamic results would it generate? Random stats is a right step but still need much improvement
eclipse ubik sexy. great success.
