[Rank 8] This powercreep is absolutely ridiculous

When rank7 first hit, a lot was said about power creep. The base-damage of certain skills, such as Cannon Blast and Snipe, was brought up to argue that Rank7 classes were much too strong compared to everything else that came before them. To a certain extent it is true, but because of Attribute prices, weapon stats, and non-damage skills in each tree, it didn’t turn out to be much of a problem. The most OP Rank 6 and 7 skills are major players, but there’s still space for other skill to be useful.

Now look at all those Rank7 class numbers: 10k base damage multihit skills, 15k base damage skills with multiple overheats, 10k base damage aoes that take half of the screen, etc. The powercreep from Rank7 to Rank8 is TOO BIG. Apart from very few exceptions, outside Rank8, Rank7, and a select few Rank6 skills, almost none of the damage skills from Ranks 1-5 is even remotely useful. They’re not even worth the SP cost of activating the skills. We were really excited to see classes like Highlander and Barbarian finally getting balanced to the level of other DPS classes, but this has made it all moot.

Then comes the monsters. Even at level 270+, the 130k HP monsters we currently have are still really strong for most classes. Why the hell did IMC think of raising their HP to 370k~500k HP? You know, it’s not making the content actually any harder because the AI hasn’t improved at all. It’s just a larger HP sponge, a bigger DPS check. This artificial difficulty spike is completely unacceptable, and the main reason the power creep exist in the first place. You could’ve made the monsters range from 180k~230k and cut all the Rank8 base damage skills by 2/3 and it would still be the same thing, except without rendering 80%+ of all already-existing damage skills useless.

Oh, but the worse has to be the immunity effects. Missile Hole is the most ridiculous thing IMC has ever conceived. It’s been 24 hours and it’s already been emergency patched to “only” block 16 hits with 31 seconds cooldown. PARTY FU.CKING WIDE BUFF. The Scout Barrel was ridiculous enough, and then they go and do this. The Featherfoot levitate buff was balanced over the fact it takes extra damage from ranged and not having 100% uptime, but somehow it was acceptable to give complete party-immunity party-wide for Sages.

If the damage-power creep isn’t fixed, PvP will turn into an instant 1-hit KO fest of who can target the other faster through the FPS lag. Unless Sages are involved, in which case nobody dies.

Devs won’t release weak new rank circle 1. If you release a weak rank1 circle at rank 8-9-10-11, the Korean players will freak out.

Because of power spike full Dex builds are viable now for physical classes, and full CON for magical.

Yes, Sage immunity has been nerfed a little bit. For PvE it will be strong. In PvP only plague doc2 will win vs sage due to disenchant removing the sage buff.

If normal mobs get 300k+ HP, I am curious about upper floors of Earth Tower, and higher lvl dungeon mobs.

even Disenchant only has 50% chance to remove the buffs now at max lvl while Sage can keep the immunity forever with low cd, high duration and tons of CC that wiz class has :joy:

Full [AnyStat] builds are bad. Putting all points into a single stat is not something that should be encouraged. Plague Doctor can only Dispel a certain number of people in close proximity. It helps, but it’s not an actual counter. Not to mention, rock-paper-scissors balance is not actual balance, specially in a game that boasts about having 80+ classes.

Gets great rank 8 class, very good rank 7 tier 2, and very good rank 6 tier 2 still complains.

WTF IS WRONG WITH THE SWORDSMAN COMMUNITY IN GENERAL? This is not just for you op. ITS FOR EVERYONE HERE.

IDK why the powercreep should be an issue at all. Almost everyone can compete at rank 8. EVEN SWORDSMAN which is a great improvement.

Even classes that are almost useless in general like hunter can compete if they pick the right rank 8. Rank 8 determines the dps but who cares? It could salvage a lot of outmeta builds like ar- ran3- fl3.

:joy:. Few builds are made with only one stat, and many builds are made with many points in one stat but with few points into other stats. Full [AnyStat] builds are not bad, it depends on your build path.

They could balance it, if only they had skills to balance a tetris.

It’s not about Swordsman, or any other class tree in particular. It’s about comparing the damage output to a player’s HP pool. When everything is hitting over 50k damage while players barely go over 20k~30k life, PvP becomes a 1-hit KO fest.

I have yet to see someone who can 1 shot full con cyro or any full/high con classes.

The devs are able to implement different skill effects in PvP and PvE. They have done this before. They won’t do it for r8.

@zweig069 fletcher is no longer king of bossing, dragoon2 has dethroned them - at least in Kr.

well, a lot of rank 8 classes focused on making previous ranks more useful. like murmillo giving more damage to peltasta and rodelero skills. taoist priest makes zaibas do more damage, making even 1 rank in krivis a good investment. sage gives life to pyromancers and other classes that use entities, making them more viable for endgame.

in a lot of games, you build yourself around endgame, not your current level. meaning that the meta is shifting from choosing support classes early game and then choosing strong classes endgame in order to be as future proof as possible.

for example, this is a highly futureproof build for featherfoot

Wiz 3 - Link 1 - Sorc 2 - FF 2

Wiz 3 has quick cast, surespell for future spells that require a cast time.

Link 1 provides good support and joint penalty and hk will always be useful.

There are always new bosses introduced to the came, so sorcerer will always be strong as it scales with int and new bosses are introduced.

The problem isn’t what is meta or what isn’t, it’s the fact that they’re balancing the skills around monsters who have 15x more HP than players. Even with the 50% damage reduction in PvP, almost everything in the Rank8 classes’ kit is capable of killing people instantly.

What do you expect to a company who doesn’t play their own game? IMC do know how to balance things nor doesn’t care at all about balance anyway.

The game started as PvE. They might balance it for PvP. Perhaps kindly asking the Korean players to kindly ask the devs to balance the game will work.

Everyone will 1 shot everyone in PvP unless you have damage immunity or CC, yes.

Currently all players are testers of new content. If you’d like a best meta build, you should leave and return later once all ranks are released, and once builds have been established.

or a fast paced fites where any1 can die in 1 shot any moment like in real life how sum1 can just shoot u and dey win

They’ll have to balance PVP for sure, but I don’t think they should change how they spiked the skill damages just for the sake of PVP. They’ll have to do balance patches to each skill to deal decreased specifically in TBL and GVG. Sage skill needs to be nerfed in TBL but it can be powerful and interesting in GVG.

Is that a serious question? Of course a long fight is better than a fight that ends instantly.

I believe those power creep are in new difficulty 4 stars map, if there is not many maps like that, it is acceptable to party quest once a while. As long as it is not mandatory and stuck you forever. It is mean for pro party to test up their team setup for bigger reward.
We have yet to see more information from krToS

As for PvP/GvG, it definitely need massive rework as now is mostly YOLO war, especially buff and debuff duration/CD/Damage/overheat for some skills. Skill base damage need normalized. Missile Holes 16hits is fine, it finished up quite fast and melee attacker (especially inquisitors) got more deadly now, and more destroy magic circle mechanism (reversi scroll?), wizard has no space to hide.
