“Listen guys, this thing sucks, but let me just promote my own movement while we mourn the loss of these people”
“I’m tired of the black and white dichotomy” and yet she’s a part of a movement which supports the dichotomy. “Black lives matter” implies that black lives are somehow different from all others. A life is a life is a life. If you’re tired of the dichotomy, change your goddamn slogan to “ALL lives matter”.
When can I stop being human so I don’t have to associate with people? Seriously. I’m sick of the human race.
Actually the problem is with the first slogan and a single mistake… Which is the implied word “too” at the end of the slogan.
The problem happens when someone reads “Black lives matters (too)” without recognizing the implied “too” there, the intend of the original slogan is to bring into attention that the lives of poeple of color seem to be undervalued due to the numerous reported deaths (especially at the hands of policemen as the media has told us) And if you see that way, well it makes sense.
But, honestly language is so important that can make ideas get closer or not. Because someone could read that slogan and think that the person who designed it was only thinking of black lives… now with all the race baiting around and how some seem to think with entitlement and such, that could be possible.
TLDR… just say: Black Lives Matter Too
That way others will realize, that its not againts their subrace, but a call to see the particular problem with the recent death of people of color.
LOL
“I was really nervous to get up here because there is alot of white people in the crowd. That wasnt a joke”
“Some facts that many of you probably dont know, um, because you’re white.”
If you’re trying to protest or whatever for equality i wouldnt start off like that.
This is why the slogan needs to be changed. As has been shown time and again, people will twist anything that isn’t explicitly laid out to suit some generally nefarious purpose. I’ve seen “Black lives matter” used far more frequently as a racist phrase than a “This is a problem that needs to be fixed” one.
