Tree of Savior Forum

/r/MMORPG vs Tree of savior (what's wrong here?)

Hmm, i am not a fan of FFXIV perse, but i do like that game, i only can’t play due to dollar value on my country, as for it being like WoW, i don’t see where it is equal, if its just for the fact that end game is only raiding, then not only WoW but many other games are the same, even isometric games like Devilian and ELOA are like that.

I think what these people you mentioned most want is something that borderline the eastern style, be it anime style or no, and western one, more action packed and less complicated stuff, i could be wrong for some of them but i think its basically that, and i see some people on this very forum that pass that image to me.

In the end, no company can make a game that will be for everyone’s taste, even on an interview IMC said the same, they know that they can’t please every gamer in the world with ToS, and i do agree with them, if there was any mmo out there, not that i said MMO and not MMORPG simple becaise i don’t see any that put up to the RPG genre imo, that will be able to do the same, as of now, beside ToS, i don’t have any game that pick my interest, at least not MMO or Online games.

I’m not saying ‘designed to be just like WoW’ as a bad thing, honestly. If it works and it ain’t broken, there’s no reason not to adopt the gameplay style. FF14 is a very good and polished game (It was absolutely horrible in 1.0) and although I personally don’t like WoW from a gameplay perspective (and other games similar to it like Rift), I can totally see why many do.

I’m sure IMC are aware of the fact that they can never please anyone and games are up to personal taste. I quite like ToS’s old school look & feel and gameplay but many won’t and that’s okay,

Actually… i yearn for all three.

But Next is death, most likely (thanks sony~).
Crowfall needs time, lots of time still ^^ (just alpha, and a real alpha to booth. Which is actually fun~ Amber backer here.)
TOS … cant be ro 2. With the “hey dont you go to that high leveld monster!” finger hits from the programm. You can’t just go and grind somewhere, which seems better to you. If it’s either to high leveld or to low leveled.

But heck, ToS is still fun xD. If only they would adjust exp gain of the mobs … and make the range of exp penalty wider.
Or increase channels and spawnrate more. For many maps … when we hit realese.

Well true but not like ToS doesn’t have stupid ■■■■ in it, i mean you should never have accuracy and evasion on the same stat because that is just retarded.

hmmm are you sure?

Dexterity aka Agility, Reflexes, Quickness, …
A measure of how agile a character is. Dexterity controls attack and movement speed and accuracy, as well as evading an opponent’s attack.

From: Role-playing Attribute

And are they mistaken…?

ok maybe i said it wrong you can’t have stat give equal amount of accuracy and evasion at the same time and be non capping.

They being on the same stat is fine but no stat cap (evasion, accuracy) indeed is stupid. But i think IMC is aware of that and they will do he fine tune on those things imo.

Not at all, by my personal experience on many Online games (of course one know that it include MMO also) in 60-65% of the games i played the community is either toxic or brain dead.

I think the community is not the problem by itself, is more like they don’t invest enough on social development and are too focused on making a beatiful and balanced game. But a MMO shouldn’t be just a “game”.

I have to disagree on that point, as by any moment i ever saw any constructive development on this so called beauty and balance, and even if 1 did try to make something constructive, the rest simple bash, flame or laugh at it, its not 1 or 2 times, many times the same vicious process occurred.

Unfortunately, humanity, if you can call those being humans, have much to learn on a social PoV.
And that can’t even be called individuality, since when one put up the right hand, 20 do the same because they thought it was cute or cool.

@OP

and what’s wrong with the comments in the screenshot? They are even well informed about the matter and their counterarguments against ToS are literally fact (or were fact, I don’t know how much things have improved in the Korean release since I don’t play it).

It seems more like you’re the one who’s overhyped, overhyped about ToS.

See it’s blind fanboys like yourself that can’t criticize the game they love that games turn to ■■■■. I’d much rather people like those in the screenshot point out glaringly obvious flaws in the game and those hopefully get fixed than pretend they don’t exist like what you’re doing.

Learn that constructive criticism is better than taking everything up your ass.

Well, people is people and have different points of view for whatever reason. So who study that? Sociologists, psychologists/psychiatrists, philosophers, etc… they have to work with them. Not just by creating a dopamine game based… like a donkey following the carrot.

I agree with most of the red posts there. The game in its current state isn’t all that appealing.

It is readily apparent to anyone who runs the numbers that the way stats scale compared to skills is going to be a serious problem in late game. IMC is going to need to do a serious rework of their system if they intend for things to be ‘balanced’.

Or… they can just add new ranks/jobs that have skills that are instantly suited to the content in that level range regardless of stats and scaling, and players will gradually drop old skills from lower ranked jobs because hey, that “insert skill” was great 200 levels ago, but it just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore. I kind of think this is the most likey route we’ll be walking on. I think when dealing with a game with 80+ classes over the long run, trying to keep all possible combinations of them balanced for all future content just isn’t going to be worth the devlopment time. Eventually a new job will come along that will have the design purpose of being a direct replacement of a job you may have had back at rank 4-6 etc/whatever.

Compare any multihit skill with any single hit skill and assume the player using them has a base attack of around 6k. Which one is a useful skill?

Your ‘eventually’ scenario doesn’t really hold water. Unless IMC takes some drastic turns with circles 8-9-10-11 we won’t be seeing a whole lot of change in our characters for the last 200-300 levels of play.
Circle 3-4 is 200 levels behind circle 7. Do any of the circle seven classes totally invalidate your circle 3 classes?

That’s right.

Multishot skills scale so well, against low def targets.

xD

But maybe they will add some multi hit skills with insane boosts?
I dunno, we don’t even know what to expect of the rank 8+.

Tos is a mediocre grind rpg.
The presumption I have is by the time it reaches us they’ll have polished it up more.
You’ve got a game situated in grinding with basically 130 levels of solid questing, bugged skills & attributes, and poor ability to alternatively grind because there aren’t any actual respawn rates worth a damn.
I was making another alt in Kobt the other dayand there was 10 of us flipping through channels to kill the 2 glizardons between the two spots. The spawn rate is slow as ass creating sizeable bottle necks, where you try and party to get around it and still find yourself waiting minutes. if even one unaffiliated person comes and reaps the kill.
zzzzzzz.
Discrepancies in class efficiency can still at this point be fairly large (not that ones demanding perfection).

Game will probably look and feel a lot better in two months if they keep up this weekly patch cycle. I’d assume IOBT wouldn’t be too far off from that so IMO, it’s worth not being eager about ATM but its rate of growth leaves me optimistic.
