This can be great, some people try to help newbies in some games. So, why don’t you make it rewarding? like a mentor or something.
PD: My first day on RO a knight came to me just for help and he give advices and items. Was fun and i was wondering “WOW a knight lv 90+, like a heroe”. Well i was 13 years old, but you get the point?
A mentoring system or legacy system, etc. is not a bad idea. Many MMOs have those nowadays and I think they do well.
You devalue the worth of somebody doing something like that by forcing them to do it. The only people that take advantage of those mentoring systems in other games are those that do it for the rewards and not because they actually want to help.
It’s the difference between washing the dishes yourself and being told to wash the dishes.
Lol, im not saying that they have to give us silver in order to help newbies… i’m just saying that could be fine reward those people with something. Maybe with something symbolic like “Honor” or another word.
Mentoring system is also known as another way of power leveling newbies.
I played dragon nest and was a mentor for a decent amount of people. the pupils were lazy and wanted nothing more than a power level. they didn’t ask questions, they just wanted to level as fast as possible by taking advantage of the mentor bonuses, while the mentor was rewarded with crappy items that weren’t even useful. if I didn’t have time to level them because I wanted to do things for myself because I was leveling people for hours, they would kick me as their mentor and find someone else who would
however, I believe it should only work if the player is actually NEW and not just a new character. something like their account is new or whatever…maybe < 1 month old and below a certain level? letting people create new characters just to get powerlevels from mentors kind of defeats the purpose of helping “new” players out anyways. they already know about the game anyways, so you can’t really teach them much of anything
