Quests - Over all design and functions

So I wanted to say a few things about quests… here I go:

1.Questmarks

Some NPCs have side quests. They are quests that are not important to
continue the main quest line, but still important in an MMO.
I think that just like the main quest line, a side quest should show up over a
NPCs head if he has one for you.
The NPC in the picture is a part of the main quest, but there are also other
NPCs with quests that don’t show up on the mini map or over their heads.

Players may miss out on precious EXP, Gold or items that way!
Not everyone is talking to every NPC he or she meets.
So flags over NPCs heads and on the mini map are something this game needs! NOW!

Get on it Game-developers! ;D

2. Completed steps

There’s something that confused me a lot as I came to the mines.

Already in F1 it was weird to me that the flags on the mini map stayed after
you’ve completed what you had to do. It seemed as you still needed to do
something there.
So I spent a good 10 or 15 minutes running from one flag to another, talking to
those purifiers and still wondering why the flags aren’t gone yet!
Only later I got what was going on. I still needed to do something at
the silver/blue-ish flag.

In my opinion, after you talked/interacted with something the flag should go
away. If it stays it looks like I forgot something.

Now I know: Yes, I DID forget something. I didn’t kill that boss like the quest
wanted me to, so of course it’s not finished, so why would the flag disappear?

To me it would only make sense, since (for now) you don’t need to do something
there. You need to go somewhere else now.

I thought I’d finish whatever it wants me to do and when I’m done I’ll do what
the new flag wants me to. But I’ll say it again: The flags stayed. I thought I
needed to talk to them more or do something with them. The light-blue flag looks like it’s absolutely
not related to the brown ones… it makes no sense.

3. Where do I need to go?

After my fourth day of playing I noticed that the flags in my quest list
are turning depending on where I need to go.
It took me four days to notice. Four days.
I haven’t seen it described anywhere in the game. Of course it’s very nice, I
only think it should stand out more, that they turn like that. Or at least say
it somewhere.

Then we have the maps. Just like available side quests need flags/marks
on the mini map, quests need marks on the world map. Right now if I open my
world map I can’t see where in my quest I need to go next.

I started a new character and just started my first quests in Klaipeda. But if I leave the map then nothing tells me that my quests are in that town.
Well… besides the quest itself. But often not even the quests really tell you
where you need to go. On the world map there should be a flag over or besides the map name, so
as soon as you open it, you’ll know: That’s where I need to go.
I know, if you hold your mouse over the name the mini maps of this area appear
and show you that there are quests.

But to be honest, as soon as you’ve discovered more of this land, you do not
want to check every map manually for where your quests lead you.

Maybe it also is possible that, if you open up a quest and click on the area-name
(e.g. Area: Klaipeda) that it opens up the world map and scrolls the map to the
location. I’m sure it’d be useful once you’ve explored more parts of the world.

On the mini map, a simple flag on or next to the entrance of the next map
where the quest will be is all that’s needed.

So if the Quest is on map-C and you’re on map-B it should show the flag at the
entrance to C. If you’re on map-A it shouldn’t show a flag on the entrance to B. That’s just
how I imagine it.

(I took a break for 5 minutes and played some more.)

I just noticed that it actually DOES do that, but not all the time when
you have a quest.
So I don’t know if this is supposed to be like that or if it’s a bug.
If it isn’t then I’d be nice if it would always show it like that.

That’s all I wanted to say for now.
I hope some of you can agree or even add something to this!

Please excuse any grammar- or spelling mistakes since english isn’t my first language. And even in my own language I’m not so good with building sentences :stuck_out_tongue:
Also, if any of the above IS in-game but I haven’t seen it yet, please excuse this too. I did not have too much time playing.

So far I loved the game, the gameplay… of course there are still a few things that could be better or different, but that’s why we’re in beta. Keep up the good work. I feel like this is going to be great :3

  1. There’s another thread about side quest flagging. I think the consensus is no flagging for side quests, which I also happen to support.

  2. Completed steps is likely a translation / implementation bug. I’m certain it will eventually be fixed.
