Questions about Swashbuckling and Paltasta

So many people (myself included) very actively advise people to take Paltasta c1 in every swordie build for its low cooldown, +25% HP provoke skill as well as the evasion buff from guardian to tank effectively.

Now in iCBT2 Swashbuckling was a godsend.
But now I’m starting to feel like it’s sorta a waste to c1 Paltasta and its taking up space in a lot of my builds.
I was considering taking Barb in some of my builds but Warcry’s CD Is TRAAAAAAASH

So I’m curios is the provoke atribute from c1 swordie enough to hold aggro in party play?
Or should I still take Paltasta.
And how useful is swashbuckling after lvl 170?

Provoke uses aggro for one enemy only.

Swashbuckling still affects what, 11 targets? It’s still pretty useful to have it for off-tanks in party even on high levels.

It only provokes one enemy?..
I thought it was a natural passive provoke

It basically aggroes enemies on hit, so yeah, one enemy at a time. Just increases the chance to delay attention from other players.

Lame .-.

What I’m seeing from voraciously analyzing videos, didn’t play beta, is that Swashbuckling 5+ is the major draw Swordsmen provide to mobbing/parties later on. I guess the question at this point is whether or not it’s become mandatory, or if somehow the extra DPS from a highlander 3 build justifies the lack of utility?

You can have both highlander and paltasta but yes highlander has really good DPS in comparison to most other classes in the swordie tree

Oh ya, whoops. What I meant was it seems like Swashbucking’s extra utility makes any build that doesn’t grab the one rank in Peltasta defunct; the extra dps from a c2 swordie (lol) or an extra rank in highlander just doesn’t seem to cut it later on.

Completely wrong.

There are builds, that utilize single-target nuking, great for bosses and elites. They are absolutely viable, they concentrate on pure DPS and don’t need Pelta that much in their Circles.

I get that cross guard and skull swing can make a High/Hop/Dragoon do some crazy damage in theory, but since I haven’t played it’s all theory to me. So when looking through builds it’s a lot easier to see the utility of Swashbucking vs. a very specific build (if there is no video online for it).

However, thanks for letting me know it looks like we don’t all have to limp to the corner and play off-tank late game! This is good news.

People tend to underestimate Swordsmen.
And we don’t need to rely on Koreans, I’ve seen videos too.
Some builds are just absolutely dumb. They are the same as us, human players, that can make mistakes.

Doppel, Dragoon, Fencer C2 are all very powerful classes and not underpowered at all, despite all nerfs going on lately (this is pretty stupid too anyway).

And oh yeah, I’ve seen videos with High - Hop - Dragoon, just like I saw them myself in Korea. Not as optimal now, but still dishes out crazy damage.
