Questions about multi-hit skills

Is there anywhere I can view, or any way to tell, how many times a skill hits? The best I’ve been able to do is try and decipher the animations on some youtube videos of characters in dungeons, but this is a painstaking process.

Furthermore, does each hit of a skill then count towards buffs (such as concentrate, restrain, or frenzy)?

Is your physical attack applied to each hit of the attack? I know it does in some cases like multishot, but I wasn’t sure if this was always/usually the case or just a special exception.

No, unless it’s something like multi-shot. (Something should be done about this…)

Generally, it only counts as one. (I know for blessing at least.)

Yes, if the skill is considered Physical, it will apply to the skill damage.
Same thing with Magic, I believe.

Thank you so much for your hasty reply. I agree that something should be done about it. I’m surprised there is not a well developed wikia site (though ToSbase is nice, and the only decent site I’ve seen so far).

Thanks. That makes sense from a balance perspective.

I know the physical (or magical for magic attacks) attack should apply to the skill damage, but I was wondering if it was on a per-hit basis, or spread out overall. So if you have 300 attack and your skill hits twice would you get +300 damage (pre defense) on each hit, or 150 damage on each hit.

First Question Response) The way I was able to figure it out with some skills was by watching he demonstration videos that show cased specific skills, and counting how many times the damage number animation popped up on the screen.

However, there are some skills (from what I’ve noticed) that are capable of hitting multiple times in one blow; which I was not aware even from the clips. One move being Cartar Stroke.

It’s likely that there are some skills where there wont be a definitive way of knowing until you put a point (or a couple) into a skill, and then test it out. That, or by looking up specific skills using Google and seeing what information you can dig up.

Second Question Response) As for buffs, that too most likely relies on personal testing. Example: Fencers Preparation skill states that “The next [Pierce] attack you make will deal twice as much damage”. However, after reading up on Fencer I later learned that the buff from that attack only applies to the first initial strike from a multi-hit attack, and does not apply to the other multiple hits following the initial strike of the multi-hit [Pierce] attack chosen.

Thanks for the response. I have seen the same things you have it would seem. It seems to be typically a case-by-case basis for skills, unfortunately. This, combined with the lack of information and constant, large balance changes are going to be quite frustrating I feel.

Sorry, I misread your third question…
I believe it’s applied to each attack, but also consider that it applies the enemies defense to each of them.

No problem; I should have worded it better. This seems to be what I have gathered as well. I just wanted to get another person’s input on it. A lot of people seem to value multi-hit skills, and I would imagine this is the reason why.

Defense does apply to each hit for the skills that do hit multiple times from what I’ve read as well. There is still so much to learn about this game though. Thanks for your assistance!
