Questions about "end game" or level 250-280+++

1.) What exactly do players do at level 280? (I have inspected many players and I rarely ever see there gear +1 +2 +5 etc… Why don’t they upgrade?)

2.) I keep hearing that past a certain level, the game is 100% group based because NO ONE can solo. Is this true? Does it get to a point where any class I pick must be grouped to kill stuff?

3.) If #2 is true, shouldn’t we all design our characters for either group play or PvP or both?

4.) I keep killing bosses during story quests that sometimes drop cards… Is there another way to get there card if I don’t get it from questing? How important is the card system?

5.) I see a lot of players build for AoE. I know AoE is king for leveling up, but what about bosses in this game? Are they very hard? Are they hard enough to want a boss focused single target attacker in your group? Are bosses soloable?

1.) There is World bossing and Earth Tower. They are sadly the only real things that come to my mind at lvl 280.

2.) At the grinding phase, like lvl 160+ (More noticeable at lvl 220+) it is faster doing things in a group due to monsters having so much more hp, but that isn’t saying it’s not soloable. A group makes things a LOT EASIER for grinding, and soloing isn’t RECOMMENDED, but you can still solo. Just don’t expect it to go as well as it did before. People just don’t like putting in so much effort to solo later grinding so they group up instead (not to mention party and class exp bonus).

3.) Well, the problem is that Earth Tower, the current endgame, is just a 100% mob fest. 20+ mobs per wave each floor. So people want AoE classes, and they also work better for group grinding. You can design you character for pvp or group play or both. It just depends on what you want to do.

4.) World bosses and party dungeon boss drop boss cards as well. There is the card system that gives bonus effects/stats, but I don’t think it’s in itos yet…? I haven’t played since the “big update.” Other than that, Sorc’s use them. Wugu also uses two specific cards.

5.) At the moment, bosses are a joke. Most of them are easily soloable. The only exceptions are the lvl 280 hp sponges so high dps is favored. Fletcher so happens to be the highest dps while being single target.

Single target class becoming the more important topic depends on how IMC plans to do endgame later on, but for now, AoE is favored.

I’m only level 253 so I can’t speak for everyone but with my build, i can solo most maps until I reach the level 260 ones. The mobs in those maps are very difficult and easy to die to.

My build is: Wizard > Pyromancer 2 > Linker > Sorcerer 2 > Featherfoot

This build is very efficient in solo play because i can link and I can summon my templeshooter to tank for me. With the featherfoot, I don’t need a healer around to keep me alive because I can do that myself. Because most classes don’t have a healing mechanic, they need a party to support them.

I don’t know much about enhancing equipment but I do know that quest bosses are not hard at all if they are of your similar level, it’s harder if they’re like 10 levels above you. But world bosses are very difficult and require high dps characters.

So if I made this character:

I would be fine? INT/SPR debuff from highlander.

Stun/Bleed with Level 1 thrust.

Cleave from barb

Then C3 Doppel when it comes out…

I don’t know much about swordsmen and their class types but I can see that this build is meant for fast progressing solo PVE. There are a lot of people who are picky about which classes they want for their grind parties and they usually want a peltasta for the taunt, so if you want to play with a party, i suggest you think more of peltasta and what kind of team player you would be.

Seems like the generic 2hand dps route. It’s fine for what it does, and it’ll definitely be harder to get into grind parties, but it works.

Edit for minor grammar misses.

  1. Most do Dungeon (DG) “rushes” on their preferred DG (Lv130 and 200 are the common choices) while making money thru their preferred method (varies from person to person) to slowly creep up their gear.

“Inspecting” will never show the person’s current upgrade level/potential; durability is hinted at by the color (yellowish/reddish shade) of the item. Ever noticed that everyone you’ve ever inspected always has full potential gear at +0?

  1. This is both true and false to a certain extent. I personally main a Lv256 Chap-Oracle (which I can fly to Lv270 should I decide to use all my cards) and I have solo’d thus far with the exception of DG and Mission/Saalus runs. It’s not glamorous, it sometimes feels a bit sluggish when killing monsters and quite frankly most people would rather party for faster kills and thus faster experience overall.

Honestly, soloing is not as slow as people may lead you to believe, it’s just a matter of preference; I for one never leave a map until I’ve fully “achieved” whatever it has “achievable”. This is also why I’m ranked #11 in my server and I have a boat-load of EXP cards at my disposal.

A lot of people would also “scare” you into thinking you can’t survive mobs at Lv220+ alone; this is not true. Most people neglect to wear at least +3 Superior Royal Guard (Plate) Upper and Lower + Plate Boots of choice + w/e gloves they want IN ADDITION TO Aspersion Lv16 or Lv17 from Pardoner to achieve enough PHYSICAL DEFENSE (even without investing in the Plate Mastery and/or using a Shield) to render MOST PHYSICAL ATTACKS to 1 (you’ll start laughing once you experience this).

The counter for magic mobs is to play it smart and use your class’ advantages to either burst it down or just don’t tackle more than 1 at a time (unless you have sufficient AoEs for it).

Alternatively, you can also invest in Superior Royal Mage Upper and Lower + Cloth Boots/Gloves (at least 3 pieces) and its attribute to decrease the amount of incoming MAGICAL DAMAGE (this is not as effective though). Most people prefer to up their HP to survive magic mobs rather than mitigate incoming magical damage by raising MDef.

Personally since I’m an Oracle, magic mobs are barely an issue.

  1. Answered in #2

  2. As of now, world bossing and dungeon cube opening are your alternatives to obtaining more cards (aside from duels). I believe they will remove the card drop from quest bosses in the future after the implementation of the “Card Equip System” (don’t ask me why).

  3. This mostly goes hand in hand with either 1) their class choice is able to AoE farm a lot or are generally wanted in parties or 2) they would like to one day tackle ET which is very group oriented and is generally a mob-fiesta.

As for world bosses, you “can solo” but it’s not preferable as it is a huge time-sink, granted that you even survive the encounter (unless it’s a boss that’s 100 levels below you).

they hangout, start to end game is being cute

1.) What exactly do players do at level 280? (I have inspected many players and I rarely ever see there gear +1 +2 +5 etc… Why don’t they upgrade?)

Earth Tower/World Bossing and right now we have PvP to have fun. I think we can’t see people’s upgrade gears.

I think it’s also too early to +1/+2 gears because it costs a lot. The better your equipment is the more you’ll spend to get it stronger. So once there are a lot of new equipments and sets to come I suppose it’s not the best choice.

2.) I keep hearing that past a certain level, the game is 100% group based because NO ONE can solo. Is this true? Does it get to a point where any class I pick must be grouped to kill stuff?

Well it’s possible to level up while soloing but it’s not a good idea because grouping you take EXP Bonus from classes. That means you level up faster and less stressful.

3.) If #2 is true, shouldn’t we all design our characters for either group play or PvP or both?

Late game people prefer to have AoE classes in party to make things easier and it’s not always possible to happen. Anyways you can design any class or whatever you want and some classes will be easier and faster to level up and some might be tough.

4.) I keep killing bosses during story quests that sometimes drop cards… Is there another way to get there card if I don’t get it from questing? How important is the card system?

Card system from now on it’s possible to summon that boss if being Sorcerer and Wugushi also gets some things from Manticen. I don’t know exactly how it works. Very soon we’ll be able to attach our bosses’ cards to have new attributes! That sounds cool. :sunglasses:

5.) I see a lot of players build for AoE. I know AoE is king for leveling up, but what about bosses in this game? Are they very hard? Are they hard enough to want a boss focused single target attacker in your group? Are bosses soloable?

Some bosses are soloable because they have only physical attacks and don’t do anything to get you killed. Maybe it has a huge amount of HP but nothing else. High Level World Bosses are the tough ones and some of them have strong magic skills, so it’s quite hard and you’ll probably need a lot of people to kill them. You can search for Rexipher, Marnox, etc.
