are Missile attacks considered basic Bow attacks? 
Yes, missile attacks are the physical range attacks.

Isn’t it piercing damage since not so long ago ?
All the ranged physical attacks are mossile. Basically everything that gets absorbed by missile hole lol.
And right now, these attacks only do +12.5% dmg on leather targets unlike the the 25% you see from spears and stuff. It even says “bow” and “gun” mext to the damage when you attack with them.
