Is it worth to invest skill point at these skills? I mean better and longer versions are easily available by paying a pocket change. As I see it, the only viable one would be Blessing which runs out fast when grinding.
Blessing 15 FOR SURE, attribute is 50% increase, when u have SPR… OMG, DMG MADNESS.
Sacrament… meeeeh… lvl 1 is enough even as chaplain.
Aspersion if chaplain HELL YEAH, aspergilum dmg line goes sky high with it, else… meh… lvl 1 is enough.
Thanks for the reply!
I’ve never reached high lvl before, but are support class required to participate in dps of party even a little? Or just in case of solo leveling?
The difference from lvl 1 Aspersion to lvl 15 is not as insane as you would believe. Lots of people are saying those 14 points could be a larger benefit elsewhere.
I would however be interested in hear some more debate on this and maybe some testing results.
Aspersion is no longer the premier defensive buff it was before the patch. I saw a Pardoner selling a level 17 aspersion - probably with very high SPR. It gave you a +110 defense. That’s all.
Increased defense has diminishing returns in the new formulas, so that +110 defense has very limited protection. For instance (calculation from Combat Dossier 2):
ATK 2000 against DEF 1000 will be 875 damage
ATK 2000 against DEF 1110 will be 830 damage
So if you have this level 17 Aspersion, that extra 110 defense saves you 45 HP in this pretty typical case. And that’s an extremely high level Aspersion!
For the record, I have 110SPR and my level 10 Aspersion gives +70DEF. I had a few friends online beat me up with and without Aspersion and the numbers were basically the same.
Right now, Aspersion is a rave of Chaplains because of the damage boost. But if you’re not going Chaplain, you can probably pass on Aspersion without noticing a difference. In fact, parties might be happier that you don’t consume a valuable buff slot with an imperceptible DEF boost.
For reference, I just looked at some Wizard data and Lethargy is now a phenomenal defensive skill. In the current combat calculations, attack has a greater effect than defense (unless you have no defense to begin with). For example, ATK 1900 against DEF 1000 will be 810 damage, lower damage than the 110 DEF increase.
Lethargy scales with INT. One player described his level 15 lethargy that does -697 ATK/MATK (along with an evasion reduction). That is a pretty significant effect, without using up a buff slot. Aspersion doesn’t compare well with that kind of effect.
How much dmg boost are we talking about here?
Also, how about Sanc, is that worth maxing for dmg with Chap?
At lvl 1 my Sacrament with full SPR (300) is giving me 314 holy property attack, not sure if it’s worth the 9 points into it to make it lvl 10 tho.
Chaplain Aspergillum basically uses holy water to enchant your weapon, such that EVERY strike does an Aspersion attack (just the attack, no DEF effect). So if you would normally do, say, 3000 with Aspersion, each strike would fire off a 3000 damage hit, combined with other attack damage bonuses. The effect lasts 10-50 seconds depending on Aspergillum level. If you enhance your stats and Aspersion properly, you should have no trouble pushing a single attack over 10k.
By the way, Aspersion is an area of attack when used offensively; so Aspergillum in this example hits 3000 to targets in an area. Basically, it’s Aspersion without limitations (Aspersion normally has a 20s cooldown every use and consumes a Holy Water each time).
So the general consensus right now is that, unless I am going Chaplain path, Blessing is the only thing worth maxing out?
Blessing is a must obviously
Resurrection, Mass Heal, and maybe Exorcise are worth maxing.
Revive you only need a few points to make the res effect last enough for people not to just immediately drop dead again (probably 4 points if you want to take it)
Points in Sacrament is mainly for efficiency sake (longer duration = less need to rebuff)
You might max out Sacrament if you’re going Pardoner and want to advertise having the skills maxed (ignore Aspersion, post-patch there’s less demand for it)
