[Question] I'm making my first SW character! [Solved]

I took swordsman C3 for pain barrier and restrain since fencer can spam 0 cd skills restrain was an easy choice also I like to hunt world bosses and tank in missions so i really wanted that pain barrier.

I would make something like this:

Not sure if Giant Swing is now useful with the insane dmg buffs it got, so you might want to take a double check on that.

I didn’t pick Frenzy cause stacks don’t build up with skills. Since Fencer is all about spamming skills, they don’t have much synergy.

Yeah but restrain only lasts like 1 second of stun… It’s not that useful in pvm sadly :pensive:

And I believe you can get 100% pain barrier uptime by stacking a couple grazing golem cards.

Agreed, I had this build on my old fencer and i have to say when i had frenzy, i would always forget to use it cause i was too busy always being in rotation with other skills.

My build was made before we got the boss card update. Also Restrain is actually doing very well for me in PvM.

Alright, looks like I’m kinda set at this point. Quick stat question, since crit cap is almost always achievable given gears and Ellaganos Cards and high damage with a good weapon, should I invest STR only to a certain point? Should I even have CON at all?

Also I have some +10 Lv15/40/120 2Handed weapons lying around (from my AP hunting), do I need those for the Barbarian stage of life?

@sykwitit540 Thank you for your input as well

hmmm I prefer changing Hop to Barb. More damage.

Imo every swordsman needs some CON. Playing a character with zero points invested in CON is a task only those koreans can do :joy:

I usually stop my swordsmen at around 100 CON. Can be a little more or a little less depending on your mood that day. As for the rest, I would make either 2:1 STR/DEX or 3:1 STR/DEX.

Fill up your critical rate with gear and the fact Fencer c3 can remove enemies critical resist

I see, I thought that was a real trend (I saw a lot of em doing that).

So DEX here is just for the crit right? I’m not really banking on being evasive or whatnot? Or does that come naturally as I step into Fencer territory?

Get at least the minimum of 50 pts invested into CON. Then from there you can decide whether you want to invest more points into CON or not.

You don’t need much evasion for pvm. If you get a little bit of gear (a good boot, shade armor / pants and leather armor mastery max) you can already achieve something around 650 evasion without ANY dex at all (at lvl 280).

You need around 1k evasion to dodge most mobs at 80% chance (dodge cap) at lvl 280.

If you use Peltasta’s Guardian skill, which has an attribute that gives 18% evasion, coupled with at least 150 dex, you’ll already sit very close to 1k evasion.

Also, don’t level Guardian more than lvl 1 :pensive:

Okay, that’s good to know (re: evasion).

I tried tinkering with the STR vs DEX spreadsheet and I noticed that even with 300+ DEX invested and Ella Lv10s, you still don’t get 100% crit rate vs 0% crit resist mobs because the weapons for Fencers have 2 slots only (assuming Lv6 gems only) and then offhand of Lv6 (42 crit) + 2pcs Sissels + Max Peta and 3pcs +14 crit enchanted headgear. Am I using the sheet incorrectly? It doesn’t seem like 100% crit rate is even possible for an SW?? :confounded: (solo I mean).

Its ok if you dont crit 100% of the time plus with Fencer 3 when you crit you will be critting HARD lol.

Oh okay! Then what do you think would be a good crit %age to land on? 50% good? Too low? 75% for 3/4 attacks? Is there a general rule people follow?

50% crit is good in my opinion. I just thinking aiming for 100% is possible but just takes way to much dedication to achieve it.

Also i think Fencer gets a debuff skill that lower enemies crit resist or it might be a crit attack buff, i forget lol.

I haven’t seen the spreadsheet but I believe the crit rate for this game must have some sort of diminishing rewards. That’s why full DEX builds are not that effective unless all your skills have so much base atk that STR becomes completely negligible.

I don’t really fine tune my characters that much. I don’t even follow their stat allocation perfectly well (no, I won’t count exactly 3 points into str to put one point into dex, but I try to keep the ratio within a reasonable limit).

Just pick whatever you prefer, 3:1 or 2:1 or maybe even 1:1 and stack the most crit equips you can once you hit endgame.

100% crit is more of an archer thing, its hard to achieve as a swordsman.

yea but one can dream =(

my full dex archer can reach 550 crit rate with swift step with 0 gear heh

Looks like I have to give up on that then :stuck_out_tongue:

@mrshadowccg Oh I don’t strictly follow exact ratios either, based on your experience, doing crits for 50% of the time, is it good? Does it feel good or would you rather it crits about 75% of the time or 3 out of 4?
