[QUESTION] [HIGHLANDER] Skills require 2H-Swords?

Like everyone else, I’m super hyped for OBT since CBT2, and I couldn’t test Highlander at that time, I just want to know if I can use Highlander skills with other weapons beside 2H swords ( EX: 1H Swords/1H spears/2H spears).

I got this idea when looking at TOSBASE, and I saw that only [Cross Guard] req. 2H Sword Stance, but [Moulinet] and other skills doesn’t. That could be just a oversight from TOSBASE adms, so I just want to check with you guys.

If someone can help me with that, I appreciate.

Of Highlander skills, only C.Guard requires 2H Sword, the other skills can be used with spears, 2h spears, sword and shield, etc…

If the required stance is “None”, you can use with any weapon.

Thank you, I just want to be sure.

I played a one-handed HL in iCBT2, and I can confirm that all skills except C.Guard are unrestricted. It hasn’t changed since iCBT2.

It was actually a tonne of fun!

Thank you, I am planning to do the same at OBT. Can you share your build?

:cold_sweat:

The flexibility of Highlander is the reason he is one of the most popular choices. And Skyliner, of course.

Oh, by the way, despite the skills being universal, KEEP IN MIND, that Highlander still gets great bonuses from using 2H Swords, buffing his Crit Attack.

Sure, but I’m aiming at [Moulinet] at HL C2 to boost my build DPS and to lvl up faster. later on when I get my 2H spear dragon I still want to be using Moulinet.

Ty for your reply.

This is my old build from iCBT2, from what I can recall. During this time, Skyliner still had a cooldown, but I found I barely used it anyway. With zero cooldown, I would now use it far more often. Keep in mind iCBT2 classes were capped at rank 6, and skills were slightly different.

Also, TOSBase currently lists a cast-time of 0.5 seconds for Catar Stroke, but during iCBT2 the cast-time got longer as you leveled it up. Most players only used level 5 to get them through early content. I found level 15 fit my playstyle, but moving 10 points over to Skyliner and Crosscut may now be preferable, because of the 0 cooldown on Skyliner.

Lastly, this build was designed to accommodate several different weapon set-ups: I could run shield/1hander, dagger/1hander, or 2hander as the situation called for it. This also allowed me to switch between sword and mace options easily.

While I enjoyed the build, I felt it struggled against magic enemies due to my focus on DEX, with a splash of CON and STR. It could easily tank physical damage, but suffered when magic damage was involved. I played primarily solo. I wouldn’t say this build is an optimized one: rather, it was built to adapt to an unknown game-state, leaving multiple options open as I discovered what worked.

If your goal is to optimize, this is likely not the build for you, but maybe you’ll draw some inspiration from it.

My build on iCBT2 was this one

Stopped on lvl 149 at rank 5

But of what I saw on krToS, this is the most used build for highlander

Peltasta for Swash Buckling, Highlander C2 for Skylyner + Crosscut.

EDIT: Moulinet is a cool and strong skill, but gets outclassed by Skyliner because Moulinet has no overheat and 35s cd while Skyliner has 0s cd, lower SP cost and the bonus damage on bleeding enemies, so I suggest you get only Cartar Stroke at Highlander C1, and with the 10 points get Skyliner and Crosscut as soon you reach Highlander C2

I just noticed I got the order in my previous post wrong… I went Sword>Pelt>HL>HL,>HL rather than Sword>HL>HL>HL>Pelt. Personally, I found taking Pelt so early was detrimental. I levelled much slower, without any worthwhile phys damage skills. Getting Skyliner faster just seems like a good move. It is worth noting I played solo though. With a good team to play with, Pelt would be useful due to Swash.
