Question for players who can afford $50 but choose not to participate

Why?

For me, I want to play in a populated server from the beginning so I better start off with a larger crowd in a new server in the next 3 months.

I live in area, that has heavy restrictions. Sanctions.

I can’t buy the game, even if I wanted, because there is simply no such option for me.

I’m still debating, to be perfectly honest. Part of me wouldn’t mind paying 50 bucks, but a large part of me also wants to feel wiser with my sense of money spending. 50 bucks is a lot, even if it is considered cheap enough in the modern world of gaming.

I have a friend who can pay but will not join me. He just doesn’t think the game is worth $50 as it is.

It’s ping for me. I don’t want to pay 50$ for a game with 400-600ms when I can buy AAA 3DS title for 30-40$.

as far as i’m concerned i won’t be paying the game because i value trust, respect and honesty over everything else.

If tIMC were honest with the playerbase and just announced the founder pack instead of the OBT i would have gladly opened my wallet and paid for the 60 USD one.

But instead they decided to announce an OBT, left with no word at all for 3 weeks, then came back and destroy their own announcment with the founder pack.

That’s like giving people hope and then smacking them in the face with an iron mace.

Since as i said my values are on how much i can trust the company and how much the company respect me and other players, and as how things are now i just don’t trust IMC enough to even believe the game will live some months after this or that they will actually work for the best of ToS.

Even if i would love to pay and play now, i will not give them a single cent now nor i will after i’ll join in June unless they actually do something to adjust the sneaky move they made.

That is my reason

It’s up to you but my advice, if you really can’t decide from necessity and gaming, I suggest you keep the $50 because there are times that you really need to use it. Like you said, need to be wiser in spending money aye?

I don’t want to pay because of the principal of it. 3 months is a very large advantage, far too long a head start.

I’ll likely still end up buying it (sadly) despite my best efforts because IMC is the dealer, and ToS is the crack. I had a taste in icbt2 and I’ve been fiending ever since. I basically have no choice.

But I am trying my hardest to say no. Because I don’t feel I could consider it even remotely fair when comparing my purchase to someone who can’t swing it for one reason or another. Putting myself in those shoes I would look up at the founders and resent their prolonged advantage while I would be forced to lurk forums for 3 more months hoping to catch the juicy details like I did in KToS. Honestly if I would have known it would have taken this long I probably would have played KToS, the only reason I avoided it is so I wouldn’t burn myself out. So much time has elapsed though since icbt2 lol

they basically created f2p hype then slap you with a $50 bill to play earlier

not cool

edit: they made a obt f2p hype

My Wife say " No "
It’s enouge reason…

DISCLAIMER

I am not against Early Access.

Principle. I don’t support methods like this when there is no heads up that it will happen. Never have, never will. Not going to say anything on the “honesty” or w/e part of these shenanigans because they never said anything in the first place. So it has no grounds to build such a discussion on.

Basically; if they communicated better (perhaps they weren’t allowed too? Who knows?) I would be more willing to throw money at this game right off the bat.

Oh; and 3 months Early Access is absurd. Coming from someone who has watched the Video Game Industry evolve over the last 5 years and has witnessed the explosions of Steam; I can safely say that this is the first time I’ve seen such a huge Early Access stage that wasn’t a ‘Review Copy’ or a Testing Stage*.
*Note: Testing Stage as in an officially labeled Test. Not a makeshift one. Example: Obsidian Entertainment’s Armored Warfare. You could buy-into their Closed Testing via Packs such as these. However the Closed Testing was already underway for a good while.

Edit; added words that were missing… It’s late. My excuse :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I would probably participate if they actually did a good job during iCBT2. But no, 50 usd for something with this low quality of service don’t sit well with me.

I just saw this announcement minutes ago, and my first thought is they will take the money, and run because the game will be a sh*tfest anyway.

If they did another iCBT3 with good result to reclaim themselves, and started this founder server things, I will probably join it.

This, i played a lot of mmo i mean, a LOT, and witnessed the ‘‘early access meme’’ explosion, they usually was 3 days or even 2 weeks but 3 months is unreal

  1. The way they managed things recently turned me off.
  2. Imo, 3 months is extremely long. I feel something bad about it. I don’t know. I just feel it. I trust my guts.
  3. Me and my friends agreed not to play in advance because the game is still not polished. We do not want to play with bugs and errors. We will just chill and wait for June. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

The game is constantly being balanced with many nerfs and buffs in kToS that will make or break a build. I don’t want to pay that much money to play test when I can continue to play in kToS until iToS is free to play. 3 months will tell alot about iToS.
