[Question] Attributes - what, where, when, how, what for?

Hello!

I am sort of veteran RO player that’s in his late 30s, and I just manager to find out what ToS is, so I am ready to book in holiday if I get into beta tests, that are around corner, i hope. I’ve been lurking around ToS stuff for a while now, but I cannot understand those Attributes? What are those? Like skill passives that enchant skill, like in Cabal Online? Or it is skill futher upgrade? I know that you can sort of, leve up those attributes? Some can be turn on and off and so on, is there anywhere a proper guide to attributes, where i can get information :

tl;dr

  • what for are those?
  • when do i get it, by using skill? Lvling char?
  • how much i can get it, is there limit?
  • how does it affect skills/character build
  • can i change it? like remove current attribute points to get it to another one? or something?
  • any full guide?
  • if there is a skill passive which says - +20 damage per attribute level, then that skill can get more and more damage after each lvl?

Thanks for understanding, and your time!
Cheers~!

/\ look sexpool post. He was faster :kissing:

1- To improve your char performance in the game. They are passive buffs and some of them you can toggle on or off.
2- In the “main city” there’s a npc who will sell to you those attributes for an expansive price (joke its just a kidney or an arm)
3- yes they have limit. Tou can see some of them at tosbase web site.
4- see #1
5- idk if you can remove… maybe with a reset or something?? Idk @DiscKZee im summoning you here!
6- hmmm… maybe? Go to tosbase web site and play with it.
7- It ill improve by skill level and attibute level till the max or the amount you want.

There are 2 types of attributes, active and passive, passive ones are simply upgrades with no additional cost or drawbacks, active ones you can de/activate at will and are usually coupled with a higher sp cost or cooldown for its usage. If you want to check them out in depth just go to tosbase and have a look around.
Also, attributes must be trained/bought from the class trainer, some of them can be aquired instantly and some need a few mins to hrs to be aquired

  1. To put it simply, Attributes are passives. They generally affect your skills, but some can add effects when you wear certain types of weapons and armor.

  2. Attributes are learnt from the Class Master of your class. You can learn the attributes of any class you’ve been. (i.e. Swordsman C1 > Highlander C2 > Hoplite C2 > Corsair C1; you can learn attributes from the Swordsman, Highlander, Hoplite and Corsair Masters.)

  3. They cost a fee of Silver and usually take time (real time) to learn. (i.e. 5 minutes + 2000 Silver to learn an attribute.) You can only learn one attribute at a time, so you can pay to learn the skill then go and grind whilst it ticks over. When it’s finished, it will automatically apply. Attribute learning time also applies when you’re offline, so before you log off, start learning an attribute which might take 30 minutes!

Attributes have level limits, some only go to Level 1, where as some go to Level 100. It depends on the attribute. Some attributes can only be learned when a skill is a certain level, or when you’ve reached a certain circle of advancement. (i.e. Some attributes can only be learnt when you’ve reached Circle 2 of a Class.)

  1. They can drastically affect skills and even builds, some of them are very unique and useful.

  2. Don’t worry about being limited with attributes. You can learn every attribute that your class master can offer, it just takes time and money. All you need to do is decide which ones you want to prioritise first. There’s also no need to reset attributes.

  3. There’s not really a full guide, but TOSBase has an attribute database which you can check out here. Search for them by Class to see the attributes available for each class… Almost all attributes are present, some aren’t as they’re newly added to the kCBT.

  4. Yes, if a skill says ‘+20 damage per attribute level’ then it will add 20 damage for every level. Remember there are level limits to these. The most common attribute you’ll see is ‘Skill: Enhance’, which adds +1% damage per attribute level, these have a max level of 100, but cost a lot of money as the attribute level increases, and are not important early on.

Also note that some attributes can be toggled on and off. For example, Swordsman’s ‘Bash: Knockdown’ attribute can be toggled on or off. Attributes which can be toggled on or off can affect the skill’s cooldown time and SP cost, but minutely. (i.e. +5 Second to Cooldown, +10 SP Cost when active, but it adds the special effect from the attribute.)

Some can’t, these are usually Enhance attributes, the ones which add 1% damage per level.

Welcome to TOS!
I think the questions are already answered in the above posts.

There are general and skill related attributes. General attributes give u buff on armors/weapons (ie, increase defense when u wear a certain type of armor)

For each skill there are some attributes that enhances it, just like a passive. I think you can try this skill simulator and get a sense. Under each skill icon, there are some round icons that show attributes related to that skill.

Just found out there is limit for how many users i can mention! But - thanks everone and
@VnZzz
@DiscKZee - special thanks for detailed information!

Thank you all for your time! I managed to get idea already what is going on. Again, thank you very much. I have been looking at tosbase website, i did research with skill builds and stuff, it is just as i did with a skill build website lvl up my rank, new attributes were poping out, and it was like +damage, where skill in calculator did not change, as well as i couldnt lvl up those attributes, so i was confused… Sort of. After reading this i shall prepare own theorycrafting on my future swordsman.

I am really interested in squire, because of weapon repair, enchantment, armor and stuff. Iirc armor enchant attribute gives +5 to count, which means with each attribute level the number of enemy hits on my char is +5, defense remains without changes?

The attributes for Weapon and Armor Enhancement both increase the ‘hit count’ for the skills, meaning the buffs will last longer. The effect (+ATK for Weapon, +DEF for Armor) doesn’t increase with the attribute.

By lasting for longer, I mean they have a higher hit count. For Weapon Enhancement, this means you can do more attacks before the buff runs out and with Armor Enhancement, you can take more hits before the buff runs out.

The buffs last for a certain number of hits, but they also have a time period of 1 hour. After 1 hour, the effect wears off. From practice, Weapon Enhancement’s effect always wears off due to time for me, I’ve never reached the hit count. Armor Enhancement isn’t really used much, but it has a low count so increasing the amount would be very useful.

Thanks for reply!

Oh, interesting. I have seen barbarian-something combo where guy could do even 14 hits from pierce i think on boss. 14 hit from a single skill use count as one usage, or like 14? I am honestly confused what i would like to play with, semi tank semi dps is they way i would like to play, it is frustrating that i couldnt participate in beta tests!

Apart from that, i guess you have tried swordsman already, as well as squire, how do you feel with it?

I’ve not personally played as a Squire, but I’ve used their services a lot.

Squire is a great class as you can repair your armor anywhere, and sharpen weapons. Setting up Camp seems like a useful skill for a long grind, especially with the food buffs.

I saw some of their food table buffs back in August and they look decent. You can raise your max HP and SP by a percentage for 30 minutes, and also decrease your SP and HP recovery time intervals (I’m not too keen on the HP/SP Recovery stats as they are now.)

Armor Maintenance seems the least used, but there are plenty of Weapon Maintenance and Repair stands in Klaipeda.

I feel like they’ll be good in a party as Ranks 2 - 4 allow you to get enough damaging classes or tanking roles in as needed to be useful in other aspects.

Will learned attributes disappear if you reset your skills?

No.
Source: Tried it

Sorry for necro. About Enhance damage attributes. if you have level 100 of the attribute, it deals 100% more damage. Is it after all the damage calculations? Like if you deal 1500 damage to a monster with a skill with no attribute, you will now deal 3000 with max attribute?

  1. Attributes are learnt from the Class Master of your class. You can
learn the attributes of any class you’ve been. (i.e. Swordsman C1 >
    Highlander C2 > Hoplite C2 > Corsair C1; you can learn attributes
from the Swordsman, Highlander, Hoplite and Corsair Masters.)

This is the most important info and should be posted at the top.

Thank you for answer mate, but question has been answered many times already, also this topic is quite old

sorry if im out of topic. my question is, if i do skill reset, do the attributes also reset?

Just because you can toggle a passive attribute, does not make it “active.” It is still a passive attribute.

no they dont’. hell no - you pay a lot of money to get them :smile_cat:

what i can not confirm is, if you learned an attribute that needs certain conditions, like skill lvl 5 of something to be activated, if you still get the bonus even if you dont put points into that skill again. but i doubt it.

k. thnx

I have a question. I don’t if it is a bug, but my game doesn’t let me learn attributes. I learned it once on a swordsman submaster, but when I try to learn from highlander ( of course I advanced to highlander), it won’t let me learn anything. Cam this be fixed?
