Question about the companions

Is there a difference between velheider and hoglan?
Why such a difference in the cost of food and pets?
Only appearance?

bumping cuz I too wanna know the difference between velheider and hoglan

I tried both and I could say currently, both seem to be at the same foothold
I wasn’t able to remember starting stats of my velheinder so I couldn’t quite compare but they weren’t far from each other
Just that I find it more cool riding a hoglan so far specially with those dirt running effects + hoglan poses better than velheinder haha

For real. I bought mine when I was @ level 75 out of curiosity. And they start @ level 1, idk if it’s bugged but those companion are like ultimate tanks. Even if they have 0 hp (I think, the hp bar totally diminished) mobs will attack them instead of you.

Hypefang, (my pet’s name) your sacrifices will be remembered. Thanks nakama.

I couldn’t agree more, as a cleric and mage player, it really is crucial to have one, especially when intending to level alone

Tried both companions… They are pretty much the same except Velheider has more base HP and Hoglan more base accuracy, crit rate and evasion. Also it seems stats grow up based on their base values.

Not sure if training pet will affect its grow potential (probably not). Will need another Velheider to test =/

It seems that trained stats do not affect stat growth rate. Raised both examples above to level 20 with velhider having some stats trained up to hoglan’s and some above.

Rush Dog’s damage seems to be pretty linear: Math.max(1, (comanion’s atk - target’s defense)) + Rush Dog’s skill damage. So it will always do at least 1+Skill damage.

I am ranger lvl 59 which companion is best for me? :open_mouth:

what about pet equipment slots. I cant seem to find any vendors or anybody that sells equipment to pets?.

Equipment for companions are not avaible right now.
Hell, it look that entire UI was redesigned and it look WAY worse right now, not oo mention that you cant even see (or level UP) stamina on your companion info page

Here is a screenshot from korean beta (im not sure if their UI look like this right now -i guess not)
Companion have sloted item -horn, and you see it in game
You also see “Intimacy degree” next mechanics that is curently removed from game

that would be sweet my pet is almost level 150 now.

falcon looks nice as pet… i wish i could exchange falcon with hoglan ticket

can u link any other pet kTos have ? i wish i can have dragon pet XD

Guys sorry for being a newbie but how do you actually level up you companions? Been grinding for a while and xp is still 0. Tried to raise its stats a little but still no change so how do I actually level it up?

You mean is your companion stuck on level 1?
Try maybe killing some mobs at the level of your character? I’m not sure but maybe it’s because the mobs that you are trying to kill are vastly low in comparison to your character’s level

There’s no real worry in bringing a level 1 companion to a level 100+ map.

Will try that in a while. Thanks!

Good luck haha

Hey, I forgot to tell you that it worked. Lol sorry. And thanks for the tip! I thought the pet level would scale with the monster level so I tried levelling it at low lvl maps first. Anyway, you have my thanks. My pet lvl is 60 now!

That’s great to hear
Although most of the time, your pet is actually just target fodder taking enemy hits to protect you XD

I don’t know if anyone has said this but… the cost of upgrading their stats per tick is COST OF PREVIOUS UPGRADE X 1.08 = Cost of next upgrade

Just for testing it out, HP’s first upgrade costs 300.

1st 300
2nd 324
3rd 349
4th 377
5th 408
6th 440
7th 476
8th 514
9th 555
10th 599
11th 647
12th 699
13th 755
and so on…

So cost of next HP Upgrade would be somewhere around 815.

As for the status increase per upgrade… EVERY Stat EXCEPT Health Points increase 1 PER upgrade. While HP increases by a multiplier of 1.007 PER upgrade.

I don’t know if the growth of the pet will be affected by the multiplier, my pet’s high level enough that it won’t level that fast :3

Just wanted to share what I found… dunno if it’s out already so… yeah.

I ain’t rich enough to do this extensively, maybe someone could  I’m relatively new to ToS and I’m aiming for Hunter and Falconer to get both Companions.

Rush Dog and Snatching has a small AoE, I dunno since I can’t test however if Falconer’s Circling could actually boost that AoE if coupled with AoE gears.

If there’s anyone out there that could try, it would really be appreciated.
