Question about stat reset potion

Most (because ofc not all) MMOs dont give a ****.

Nobody should because thats the norm,

Very enlightening, thank you. We should probably also encourage people to break the law. You know… because some people have been always doing it throughout history… so its the norm.

Yeah because adding a new class is the same as wrecking already existing ones with potentially hundreds of playtime in them.
Remember scumbag planetside 2’s choice to add overpowered premium guns so people would buy no matter what, and then nerfing them into the ground 2 months later?
Yeah its not like anyone whined the forums full because of that.
Yeah its not like planetside 2 started out as an AAA+ game but is pretty much dead now EXACTLY because of choices like these, but hey: We should make everyone bend over and **** them because its the norm.

*looks around… no basement… no parents… living alone in an apartment… pays my own rent…"

Ah, you were joking. Haha, good one. :joy:
I assume you can point me to a game that hands you a new lvl’d/geared up character each time a balancing change happens.

Now you are just going around in circles. Balancing changes effect every MMO. Sometime classes are buffed, other times they are nerfed. I’ve never seen a MMO offer entire character remakes because a class was nerfed. Ever.

Phew i was really confused and was actually browsing a korean forum to confirm :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, and its not like forums are always ablaze gw2 style each time they decide to break a class on purpose and turn a different one OP.
It was blizzard with word of warcraft that introduced this ****fest first. In their opinion it entertains people when they have to make alts because their main has been wrecked.
Oh yes the jolly good times at the start of wrath of the lich king. The joy of playing any form of pvp with paladins taking on 10 people at a time and wrecking everyone without breaking a sweat, and refusing to balance for 3 months straight.
Oh the joys of GuildWars 2’s recent expansion with DragonHunter’s oneshot traps or bunker builds which made their tournament and the entire company the laughingstock of the gaming world.
Oh the thrills of the original Diablo 2 where the first complete wrecking of characters happened after a balancing patch, making half of the playerbase leave and turning blizzard’s forums into a quagmire for months…

Yeah, lets just aim for bad publicity and constant flaming on the forums because its the norm set by some larger companies.
Oh we are not a large company housing millions of players? Well who cares, im sure its rewarding as hell to screw up your players, making them start over.
Why?
Because as it has been suggested: Its the norm.

You have never seen stat/skill resets in an mmo?

Haha! I’m sorry. :joy:

But… that’s exactly what we get here. Stat and Skill reset. Just like any other MMO we can’t change the class we’ve chosen, which in ToS are the circles build together to finalize that class.

So why is that a problem?

There is no problem, as like I said, we already have it. So no problem there.

Dude, im not arguing for resetting your class.
Im arguing against the notion of wrecking entire classes without having the option to stat/skill reset. Especially since we are just hitting open beta and by definition most of our skills will go through fundamental changes.

I understand that.
But, like all MMOs out there, meta changes all the time, back and forth, up and down.
Classes gets buffed up while other get nerfed. Over and over again.
No one knows what will happen.

Edit: Even WoW that has been live for over 10 years still make balance updates that still changed the meta over and over.
It’s nothing we can avoid.

Yeah and most of the time its small changes to fine-tune a skill. Not worth a reset.
Its a different topic entirely in beta though where some times entire skills get removed and new ones are added.

As stated above, wow is hardly a good example for this as blizzard itself started this trend which is criticized ever since. Ironically enough however, they do offer a complete max level char for you to buy, if you want to do so.

I’m no game designer. But I would assume that those big changes comes down to if the playerbase find a skill usefull or not. If it’s found useless and barely anyone uses a skill, it might get replaced, or even taken away completely to free up space(?)
If that’s how it works, then I blame the players for bringing up META builds that the majority follows since everything else is “useless”.
But, like I said, I’m no game designer so these are just my personal thoughts on how it might happen.

And remember, it usually takes months, maybe up to a year for the game to find a good balance. Can’t expect a flawless game off the bat. Just have to be patient and adapt to the changes like everyone else has been in the MMO history. Since I can’t remember one MMO that has given the players a chance to change class midgame.

Can those experience cards be account-shared between characters?

No they are not tradeable

No. Also they added a level requirement to using cards. A level 1 character cannot use level 10 cards so trading would be useless anyway.

It’s nothing like that. How many classes does WoW have? ToS?

Skills and builds in ToS are highly dependent on having the right configuration of circles. Whereas in other MMOs, you still have a broad selection of play styles within a class, in ToS, your play style is almost entirely dependent on a delicate balance of circles. It’s ridiculous to reroll 20 archers for 20 different balance patches because you like to play ranged physical dps and need to rework your build every time.

keep in mind that there won’t be any Stat resets purchasable in game.
the only one you’ll get is from the purchase of the founders package i believe.

Stat resets aren’t in the Cash shop.
only Skill resets are available.

this promotes players to think hard, talk about builds and gain knowledge about them.
As you play the game leveling and progressing will move along faster so rerolling will be less of an issue.

not like it’s that hard to level up now if you had to reroll anyways
with the addition of Orsha starter zone and quests, EXP card drops and EXP card obtained from achievements and etc…

this of course isn’t counting the very likely EXP events we’ll likely be seeing.

A question, when you use a stars reset potion, how it works? I mean, what about the bonus points from statues and quest and the bonus points from rank? Do you lose them?
