Question about regional pricing

I live in one of the affected regions and I wish to remain playing on Klaepedia because I have more English speaking/americanfriends that are joining me, because I speak English fluently and other reasons.

Are the prices going back to normal before launch? I’d like to get some discounted TP and remain playing on Klaepedia. Otherwise, I might be forced to request a refund. Not from Steam mind you, directly to IMC because I was told the servers were going to be international.

I’m not making threats or having a fit, I just don’t have any reason to keep playing otherwise.

I’m from LA and I want to remain playing on Klaepedia so I can remain playing with my friends. Currently the price of things are worth almost double. I can pay for a fancy hotel room for one night in my country with the current price for Pack 1. Extremely expensive.

I’m not allowed to request refund from steam because I’ve played the game more than the allowed amount of time to request a refund for and the DLC I bought already (Pack 1 also) won’t be transferred to the new LA server even if I would play there.

No. These are the normal international prices. They had to make them equal to be fair to everyone. It would screw up the game’s economy if people on the same server could buy TP for different prices. The item can’t have a set value in the game if I pay $10 to get it and you pay $3 to get it, and it would create nothing but hostility and drama between the players from different countries.

There will be 3 regional servers in the Steam version of the game, EU, SEA, and SA. SEA and SA will have the regional prices but the items will only be able to be used on those servers. If you want to stay on Klaipeda you will have to deal with US/UK pricing for TP.

Yes it would, if you play on the Steam SA server. They only said it wouldn’t transfer to the server hosted by LevelUp, which is a different server.

I’m going to have to politely ask for a refund them. I cannot afford it. I lost my job recently and I was hoping ToS would keep me busy meanwhile.

You can try, but IMC stated right on the DLC page that once you use the items you are no longer eligible for a refund, so you probably won’t have much/any luck. Especially seeing as you didn’t really ‘buy’ anything. The founder’s pack states that the game is free to play and that the pack is simply for players who wish to support the company, essentially a donation.

Well, that was before they changed everything so I’m hoping they will be kind to me.

go read the news. the LUG server will no longer be the only option. (it might even be scrapped? idk, wasn’t actually mentioned.)

there will be a new BR/LA/Whatever server run entirely by IMC, and will include server transfers.

as for the pricing, it’s going to stay that way.
and the packs will all be removed before f2p anyway, and replaced with regionally-priced re-purchaseable TP packs.

Thank you for the clarification then.

Ok these prices aren’t fair. Steam has regional prices for a reason, the reason is that REAL prices of goods are different across countries. What’s important isn’t that a person in region 1 pays 10$ and the person in region 2 pays 3$. I know that seems strange and like the person in region 2 is getting a discount. That is not actually the case because of the following:
Regional pricing works in the way that a person from region 1 pays 30$ and a person from region 2 pays a local currency, which when converted nominally equals 5$. But the real price that each of them pay is the same, meaning that. 30$ in region 1 is the cost of 1 Urban Outfitters sweatshirt and 5$(in local currency) is the price of 1 Urban Outfitters sweatshirt in region 2. Basically for each pack people from both regions were giving up 1 sweatshirt and that’s why it was fair.

Now people in region 2 used a bug to cheat, that bug was the weird payment system that allowed them to access a pack and then refund it etc. It had nothing to do with the prices. They were paying FAIR prices before. IMC’s so called fix, has just on a blanket basis made everyone from region 2 now have to pay 30$ which is like 6 sweatshirts from my earlier example.

Packs are removed? You mean from the store or do those items vanish ingame O_O.

What you’re ignoring is the In-Game economy.
If I buy a game for $10 and you buy a game for $3 that’s fine, my game doesn’t affect you and your game doesn’t affect me.

When you and I are both playing the game together, what we do in that game affects each other, and the fact that you and I are paying different prices for the same item will make a VERY unstable economy with huge price fluctuations. Not to mention people constantly arguing “Why should I pay full price for your token when you only paid 1/3rd the price for it? Blah blah blah”. Then there is the issue of people cheating by setting their computers to a country where items cost less which is a major problem for the game. A silver seller in the US can make Steam think his computer is from Brazil and buy 4 tokens for the price of 1. IMC’s solution of server-locked items with region-appropriate pricing is the best solution for everyone. Except this one guy who wants to play on the international server but can’t afford the international price. Sorry about that one guy, but no game can make everyone happy.

No I’m not ignoring the in game economy. The cost of the token is what you gave up in real life for that token. Meaning the same 1 sweatshirt. You paid 1 sweatshirt to get 1 token in region 1. And the other guy paid 1 sweatshirt for 1 token in region 2. The nominal price difference 10$ and 3$ is not the real price difference.

The second point is true yeah, but the thing here then is that this solution is actually really shitty. A silver seller in the US is the on benefitting because he uses his higher income country to buy packs in a lower region. So the solution penalizes legimitate players in brazil, for the cheating that US players were doing. Do you see the problem there? Ofcourse there were BR players cheating, but gains from cheating were less for them because they were still giving up 1 sweatshirt per token. The US player with the VPN was benefiting the most he was able to get 1 token for 1/3rd sweatshirt.

Wow this sweatshirt example is becoming even more complicated now. Hopefully that paragraph above makes sense.

I understand that this move is a solution, my argument is that it was a terrible solution that penalizes legitimate players from other regions a lot.

russians getting the same ingame content for 1/3 what we pay isn’t fair either.
plus it provided a really cheap way for botters to make their accounts.

everyone has posted the math explanation of why it -doesn’t- work in a bunch of places already.
but it’s optional. you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to.
once all the server transfers are complete, the system will be regionally divided again, and regional-based pricing will return.
read the news post.

only from the store. the old (full price) DLC 1 and 2 have been removed to make way for the new DLC 1 and 2, which have been discounted to half off… at least, half off of what the direct conversion was.

fml so if I wan’t that stat potion this is it :C

the other option is meet a guy flying through time and space in a police box, and ask him to drop you off a few days ago to buy it then… but i wouldn’t really hold out too long waiting for that to happen.

that said, if the -only- reason you want the DLC 1 is for the stat reset potion… then you should probably just save your money and reroll your character.

Hey but how long I hold out for that doesn’t matter so long as I’m still alive because I could go as far back in time as I wanted anyway =D.

It’s not the only reason but it seems to be the 1 item that isn’t going to be available again and I’d like it as an insurance. I see my game time only decreasing in the future so would be great to lvl a char with pve stats and then respec it to pvp when I’m done.

My plan is ruined tho :< now I have to level the char with pvp’ish stats for most of it :frowning:

but what if you wait 3 years for time travel to become available… but you find out it can only go back until the point that time travel was invented (which is like a few days by that point)

lol…

BTW: don’t -plan- for pvp.
plan for the gaming experience you will enjoy. PvP will mostly be something bored people login every weekend to do during big guild battle events (or whatever day they end up being held on). Right now, it’s not even that organized. it’s something bored people do with no real rewards, because they rushed through leveling too fast and now have nothing left to do.
it’s never going to be like NA style games with organized PvP ratings and tiers, and big in-game rewards, etc…

i mean, mostly i’m guessing. maybe they have big plans i’ve somehow missed entirely…
but…
generally speaking, North American games only use leveling as an excuse to force you to learn how to use your character, and the “real” game is once you hit level-cap…
and in Korean games, the much longer leveling journey is the goal in itself. PvP and other end-game stuff is just tacked on to keep people hanging around.
