Question about Centaurus card and others

is this card a good investment? and how useful is it for a swordsmen?

also what other card would be good?

Good investment?

Depends on build but usually it is. Other cards for swordmen could be either 3x Prison Cutter (if you have classes that inflict bleeding, or you couple it with 3x Rajapearl cards) or Velnia Monkey (requires you to use 3x Biteregina cards tho).

Centaurus increase the quantity of mobs you can hit per skill use while Prison Cutter and Velnia Monkey increase the damage you deal per mob.

How useful is Centaurus?

A few skills don’t depend on AoE atk ratio (i.e. Dragoon C3 Dragon Fall) thus Centaurus cards are somewhat less valuable (though Dethrone still depends on AoE atk ratio).

AoE atk ratio works like this:

  • On skills that depend on AoE atk ratio, the skill can only hit a certain amount of mobs depending on your AoE atk ratio and targets AoE defense.

  • For each mob hit, subtract your AoE atk ratio by the mob’s AoE defense, if there is still AoE atk ratio left, do the same for the next mob. If AoE atk ratio is 0 or less, the skill can no longer hit mobs.

  • Small mobs have 1 aoe defense, Medium mobs have 2 and Large mobs have 3.

  • Higher AoE defense enemies are always hit first before lower AoE defense ones.

  • Example: A skill with 12 AoE atk ratio can hit a maximum of 12 / 2 = 6 medium mobs, or 12 / 3 = 4 Large mobs.

  • More complex example: In a mob group of 3 Large and 5 medium mobs, the same 12 AoE atk ratio would hit the first 3 large mobs (12 - 9 = 3 AoE atk ratio left) and 2 medium mobs (second mob has 2 AoE defense against 1 AoE atk which still makes it take the hit), the remaining 3 medium mobs will not be hit.

  • AoE atk ratio does not increase the actual AoE range of the skill, meaning very small AoE range skills benefit less from very high AoE skills because they are too difficult to hit many mobs with.

Centaurus card is better suited for AoE dps, general mob farming builds.

How good is Prison Cutter / Velnia Monkey?

These cards are straight out 30% more damage (with 3x lv 10 cards) against bleeding / poisoned enemies. Swordmen don’t have any skills that inflict poison but Velnia Monkey is also an acceptable option since Bleeding does not work against some mobs. As a rule of thumb, if you have any bleeding skill (Crosscut, Serpentine), you usually pick Prison Cutters while if you don’t have any bleeding skills you usually choose Velnia Monkey + Biteregina.

These cards are better suited for boss dps builds.

What about other cards?

Other cards can be useful as well (things like Netherbovine card) but they don’t provide a huge difference for your character’s dps. If you want to focus on PvP, you might want to consider Nuaele cards very important as well.

I see. I only pve sooo that’s good thought usin’g 3 of the same care seems boring too me. I get that its makes you stronger thought part of me feels that I can use those slots of other stuff as well

The go-to red card would be Glass Mole. Because of the way the Attack-Defense formula works, +30% Physical Attack actually results in a 40-50% increase in damage while Glass Mole is active. The uptime for Glass Mole is somewhat short, but many swordsman classes are burst oriented (example Doppel, and especially Shinobi) so you do a large portion of your overall damage in that short span of time anyways. The best part about Glass Mole is that you can activate it on your own terms, rather than relying on chance or using some subpar skill (like Cross Cut for Prison Cutter’s bleeding requirement).

I find Centaurus cards to be the best red slot for most Swordsman builds nowadays, since you can get plenty of damage in other ways. AoE attack is one of the most valuable stats in the game for increasing your clear speed and also one of the hardest to come by. Getting +6 just from your red card slots is actually huge. Especially now that there aren’t many (any?) endgame weapons that boost AoE attack like there used to be. AoE attack ratio also lets you clear challenge mode much faster because it’s basically guaranteed you’ll always have enough enemies on the screen at once that you won’t cap out your target count no matter how much AoE attack you have. Just going for increased damage is really only useful for world bosses, considering dungeon and mission bosses die in 2 seconds flat, but these days I don’t think world bosses are super competitive to the point where you have to maximize every bit of damage to get a drop. Still if you want to make a world boss killing character you’ll probably go for damage cards instead.

hey green cards that have 2 stats on them they need 2 stars for each stat to go up once?

is it a good idea to use 3 netherbovine cards? all other green cards don’t seem that good.

It’s better than nothing, but Netherbovine cards should be the very last of your investments. Getting higher refinement or higher trans weapon will provide much more damage for the value of what a lv 10 card costs.

Yes. I’m not sure what happens if you add two of those cards at odd levels, tho. For example, two lv 3 cards, will they give +4 or +5 stat bonus? I believe it’s the former but again, I’m not sure.

ah I see

well from what I can tell the nether give 1 str per star so i’m pretty sure that’s 10 points of str on a maxed out card. so that’s pretty straight forward

I thought the doubles where good. everyone seemed to make a huge deal about templeshooter XD

well i’ll do alitle more research so I hope I make a good call
