[Quest Boss] Denoptic's AI needs to be tweaked to attack more often

Denoptic is a level 64 boss, part of the quest “Unfinished Commission”.

Aside from the AOE attacks he has, which are reasonable (yet incredibly easy to dodge even with no red markers), he is incredibly slow AI-wise. He literally only attacked me once from trap spawn 1 to trap spawn 2, later on he started attacking more, but that aside, he still lacks the glamour some of the others earlier bosses have. The attacks he has are the following: a laser that goes in a straight line [frontal], a 180º laser attack [frontal], a green projectiles AOE, and the last AOE in which he starts spewing some aerial white phosphorescent spheres (barely used this one).

I also managed to sit by a campfire long enough to restore most of my SP.

What bothers me most is that he is one of the few bosses that drop the materials to make the delicious “Rokas Robe”, a purple item.

Are you sure that’s what’s happening here? Besides I did state that he speeds up later on.
Potions were activating reasonable soon as well, so the server lag (in comparison to spikes) was minimal, and it’s only during spikes that I see mobs stopping like this.

That aside, the boss could use a buff (another close ranged attack perhaps, with increased frequency in use).

It’s lag. Apperantly not all lag is equal, somehow.

My point still persists though. Later on, when he did indeed get quicker, he was still easily outrunnable.

I think this kind of boss would go along greatly with a skill that slows down a specific player, or players in an area, as most of his attacks are linear.

Where is the Denoptic located?

Oh, it’s hard to notice but every quest says its location, so in this case “Overlong Bridge Valley”.

if anything denoptic needs an overhaul, he just used his invincible jump 6 times in a row, with no way to evade his shockwaves ( i am from europe ~120-200 ping, before their visible animation hits you you are allready hit and knocked down,) if he decides to jump again he hits you 100% of the time and oneshots you since all shockwaves hit you at once

It’s obviously lagging for you. The Denoptic I fought is nothing like this at all.

Also, you will fight him a second time again with much faster reaction speed at Royal Mausoleum.

of course it is lagging, but having him jump onto you and having to guess a direction to not get hit is not my favorite kind of bossfight if. also because of lag i can’t get away from him fast enough to go between the shockwaves, so i he is able to jump onto me or right beside me i am boned.

I didn’t received any damage while fighting him though. The teleport shockwave is definitely avoidable. Start running when he start spinning. When the shockwave came out, you can avoid it by going between the wave. The lag is the only problem.

what about his shockwave animation not having the correct hitbox? i’ve seen others with the same problem of being hit when before the visible shockwave touches the character? not lag related, since this only happens with denoptic as far as i’ve experienced it

Maybe you shouldn’t aim for a perfect graze.

Don’t lie to me, Denoptic is the strongest boss in the game. It was the only boss we fought that was completely invincible to us for 5 minute straight, no lag or ping spikes, in the royal mausoleum. It literally wouldn’t take any damage at all, but could still do damage causing us to die multiple times in an effort to un-glitch him.

you misunderstand, the delay is so bad the only way to evade this stuff is start running when the animation starts an barely scraping by if you get lucky enough to not have them go in the same direction as you do.
like i said, most bosses are fine, i usually have to jump about a second before the animation “erupts” from the boss and i am good, but denoptics stuff has just weird hitboxes compared to other bosses

glad to hear it, can’ wait for stable servers in europe then, he’s a real nightmare solo as an archer like this, only one that comes close so far is the friggin ravinewurm, who places unavoidable toxic fields ( as soon as they show up i get poisoned, they probably have a delay before arming for you i assume?).

I always prepare alot of antidote. So I never have any problem with poison. Lol.

Poison is a disaster to wizard as they interrupt your casting.

yup i really dislike that dots can do that, this ruins any class with casttime, bleed is worse since there is no antidote x,x at least it doesn’t last as long
