PvP Templar Builds

I recently started a thread considering options for defense and utility for a Templar to support a guild later on, though the more I researched the game in its current state, the more it seemed like tanking beyond just Peltasta C1 was unnecessary.

With that in mind, perhaps shifting focus toward being able to contend in PvP and eventually GvG when content may be released for it later on is in order. I haven’t seen much in the way of exploratory builds for this purpose for Templar specifically, so I have attached a few theorycrafted ideas for PvP Templar builds below:

On paper, looks like a good balance of Damage, CC and Utility. Can still make use of Swash Buckling and Jolly Roger for PvE, and the rest lends itself to PvP and bossing. Still unsure if Battle Orders’ +25 Str is worth the skill expense over crafting time decrease though.

Loses CC compared to the first build in favor of burst damage. Personally I think I prefer the former, especially in team fights, though I’ve seen some players swear by the damage of Skyliner and Crosscut

A lot of players seem to advocate for Cataphract in PvP in general, boasting high damage and AoE hits. Loses out on CC and utility options compared to the first build, but gains higher damage potential and mobility. Might be useful later on depending on GvG content released.

Any thoughts or advice for class distribution, skills and stat builds would be greatly appreciated. I wasn’t able to make it into the previous beta tests, and I’d like to have a solid idea in mind once open beta does start as to which direction to go in.

Thanks in advance! :wink:

Bringing up this post. At last, someone who prefered that templar were used as main character rather than an alternate, dilgele farmer or just a plain guild manager. The point is, if built properly, templars can enjoy dps too, join team battles and participate in gvg, perhaps an all around class, rather than the traditional pve tank.

Everyone says that templar doesnt have offensive active skills in their skill tree, but do we really need that much? Just set 1 of your templar preclass to circle 3, swordsman, highlander, barbarian, rodelero, hoplite, then mixed it up with corsair, squire or peltasta for utility, and that’s all you ever need. With lack of dopel, fencer or dragoon skills, accept the fact that you are not the main killer in your party, and basically we have archers and wizards for that role.

Surprisingly, templar c2 at rank 8 got some interesting guild and party essential passive buffs. And it was given 1 offensive skill. “Stun Blade” looks like a dps utility skill just by its name(3 overheats and 30 secs cd), that might annoy the hell out of the opponents. These give more reason to main your templar when rank 8 is patched.

I made this build focused in solo/party grinding, damage, money making system and arrest for pvp, and the new skills of templar C2, let me know your opinion

meta PvP templar is actually sword3 -> cata 3 -> templer 2
