Pulling Your Game Out Of The Gutter

Stop doing events until you reach a stable point and someone competent is on your team.

You’ve proven with this Halloween event you honestly have no clue how to host an event properly or how to make one with proper rewards. One of the rewards for the event is a Solmiki weapon, something that takes months and millions of silver worth of efforts. This is why in castle defense games you have to beat your castle before you can publish it to the public. If no one on your team has got a Solmiki weapon legitimately on a fresh account then you have no business playing around with it.
I know it hurts and you would rather think you’re making people happy, but it’s time to face reality. You need to take a hard double take on reality when you’re making these decisions, you’ve pointlessly frustrated your player base since day one of launch.

I would start with being able to delete friends off your friends list and properly displaying the dungeon entry reset time on the dungeon information page in game. I play on Tel and it says in game it resets on AM 6(Game Time(3 AM PST)(6 AM EST)) while in fact it resets on PM 6(Game Time(3 PM PST)(6 PM EST)), so that’s something you should definitely get on. I already made two tickets regarding this specific issue. The second one is still waiting for a response so I assume you’ve taken notice. But hey good job making an actual icon for dungeon information instead of having it hidden behind a chat command that caused pointless frustration.

Hire someone whose mother tongue is English/Actually cares about the translation.

Your employees are probably all foreign and that’s okay, when they’re competent. Your translation skills or rather lack of make pointless frustration to old and new players and scare away people because you didn’t want to take the extra hour perfecting your work. My suggestion would be to fire 3 people and hire one person specifically for quality control with the combined pay grade of all three of the people you fired. Strictly quality control, you really need it.

Stop trying to make old game mechanics work.

Due to the frustration caused by your actions as a whole you’ve killed your population and no longer have the luxury to try out those cool old game mechanics like “form a party outside a dungeon” or “only being able to queue while outside the dungeon”. It’s time to make a queue system where you can still queue at any dungeon, at any map, at any point, and anywhere. This will go against your original intentions but honestly you’ve fried those chances and it’s time to adapt and fully accept you’ve killed your hype train and no amount of pointless originality is going to fix it. At least not until you’re actually done fully polishing your game.

Reward The Casual Player

Honestly when I came back to this game and saw how easy it was to get to max level with the new player bonuses I thought to myself “Why did I bother giving you all this money and all my time only to get spit in the face?”

You’ve made the new player bonuses so good in fact that it works against their purpose. New players are getting up to 330 in less than a week and are not going to stay, you’ve shown them what’s at the end of the tunnel before they had time to develop in the community. They have no ties to this game, no friends, and what they saw at the end of the tunnel?
A dead trap game with a sub par development team in comparison to every other game they’ve played. Reward the people still playing not the ones that are going to leave once again due to your personal failures. Don’t punish the people that are standing with you right in front of you just so you can get the momentary approval of the ones looking down at you.

Stop doing updates when they’re not coming within a months time.

Honestly it’s self explanatory. You have bad communication with your mother company to begin with and it’s insulting to look at all the things that are coming… 6 months later.

Reset every and all skill trees when ever changing or modifying a skill.

Back on being half-hearted. Even if you only changed one thing, on one skill, on one class, you still changed something and if something is subject to change then everything is subject to change. Stop being greedy and start being smart.

Decided to clean the post up a little for easier reading.

Agree for most but for Reset stuff I’d rather have it go with the monthly Journal or just keep selling it in the tp shop for $10 like every other game out there.

IMC Doesn’t want to make money I guess lol

I’d also like to add “You’re incompetence” :haha:

Back to topic~ While I agree with some things, I also disagree with several.

  1. The “mother tongue” one
Who cares if English is their mother tongue or not ? What matters is that they’re actually fluent in it. And I do mean fluent, not the bullshit “fluent” people use to describe their linguistic level when all they can do is have casual and short talks.
And most of all: the quality of their work isn’t directly linked to their English level. The current staff’s English isn’t bad at all. The issue is that they don’t care. They barely read what you say, and ignore whatever they feel like ignoring. But anyway, I still believe that whoever manages this game’s team is the #1 Idgaf person as they seriously don’t seem to feel the need to change all that.

  2. The updates
No matter what, kTOS updates happen, and players translate/talk about them. They cannot just ignore those updates and act as if they don’t exist. It’s also their way to tell people “Hey, look, we’re actually working on things that you’ve been saying bother you” and give them hope. It’s needed in every games, that’s why basically all of them do that.
The only real issue is that people are, like always, impatient and don’t understand that they can’t give a specific release date.
You’re also completely unfair on this part: “you hyper people up with all these cool new exciting classes that won’t be out for another year or two” since they have NEVER done that.
What classes have they announced/talked about (on any versions of TOS) and that took them one year or more to release ? Literally none.
The only ones that people have been waiting for years are the ones that were datamined some times ago, or based on the old trailers when the game wasn’t even out yet. They haven’t at all hyped classes to release them one year or more later.

  3. Reset every time a skill is modified
I don’t see the point as it means we’d constantly get resets.
No, the real issues are that they regularly modify skills (half the time without even notifying anybody… you just log and your skill has changed, amazing 8D), and they do it whenever and for whatever reason. If you want to rework skills, then rework them all and change them all at once, then you can give resets to everyone.
Stop constantly modifying all the skills out of the blue and in a sneaky/hidden way, that’s just weird and annoying.

All valid points of thought that I can get behind.

Off topic. Good catches on the grammar, I don’t proof read my stuff.

So imagine that it took you a couple minutes to make this post without proof-reading your stuff, as someone who is a native English speaker, you’ve been doing it your whole life I assume. Maybe you’re ESL, I’m assuming not.

Now imagine that you are producing a game with a coding language that you have used for probably a few years. There are multiple solutions to every problem, but only continuing to bash your head against these problems will illicit results. And there is always some ■■■■■■■ from across the world who figures it out quicker than you, and figures out how to exploit every little typo you make.

You made a couple mistakes that you perceive as small. Coding mistakes are just as small, but as you are well aware, have much further reaching complications. You are playing a mostly free game, created by a very small team of what appears to be very inexperienced developers. They are probably doing their best to make it work, while keeping the community as engaged as possible as they wait for the next large push of content.

The Halloween event is a ■■■■ show, but I think if you really thought about it, you’d find that what you’re doing is largely unhelpful. It’s so easy to just bash the event and tell everyone to shut it down, but once you familiarize yourself with the event and understand some of the mechanics, it’s very easy to figure out how to make it work, how to end up with 200-300 candy every time.

Also, why do you believe that the new classes won’t be out for a year or two? The patch just hit ktos, all that needs to happen is for it to be translated. The rest of your gripes don’t make much sense. It sounds so easy to tell a company to fire 3 people and hire 1 who is talented, but that’s the busywork of 3 people dumped in the lap of just one person. That’s burnout central, and it actually leads to the one talented person throwing out work of an equally poor quality. You can’t have it both ways.

If I woke up, got dressed, got in my car and drove to work, and sat down I would be in the right head space and actually proof read my stuff 2-4 times and have at least one person check it besides myself before I published it, maybe 2.

They’re getting paid, and if they’re not getting paid enough they shouldn’t be ashamed of it.

Halloween patch overall is fuqed. Hackers all over the place teleporting, people grouped, and a fuq ton of server lag.

It’s burn out central if they’re doing a majority of the work, they’re just quality control.

Other than that I can mostly agree with all your points.

Your complaints and suggestions would have more solid ground without all the bad-mouthing and offending tone.
I agree with some things but it just appears like you are crying the way you wrote it all up.

I would say any argument has more solid ground when done professionally but that wouldn’t high light the rage people are feeling as a byproduct of IMC and their actions since launch. But that’s also why I made the poll with options that are completely unbiased.

You have your own reasons for not being satisfied with the game at the current moment, but being bashful and using an offending tone like that won’t help at all. Instead of making a wall of text with “you’re incompetent” all over it, you should try to elaborate it as a positive feedback and point out how the Halloween event is bad and what they should avoid in the next events, what are the flaws in IMC communication with the community, etc.

There are things in your post I don’t understand at all: what old game mechanics are you talking about exactly? The instanced dungeons reset is occurring at 6 AM as intended in my server. Are you playing in one of the SEA servers? Did they change when the dungeons reset in your server? Our community is starving for new content, but iTOS is following a regular update schedule (2~3 months after kTOS in a single batch of updates) and since we’re always peeking on what kTOS is getting before us, is it really wrong to make announcements about that even if we have to wait a few months until we get the announced content? To be honest, kTest and kTOS had some gamebreakingly bugs in recent updates, so it’s actually a good thing that we receive them later (and even then almost every update in iTOS breaks something) And about your last point, we’re always getting events that give us a skill reset potion. We’ve got a free Rank Reset in last december, a long rank reset event after “Renewal”, Templar players got one free Rank Reset since they changed how guilds work and we’ll get another rank reset event when R9 comes, so what are you complaining about exactly?

sums up IMC attitude and why the game is eternally low population

If I was getting paid to do their job I would give positive feed back. They have enough positive feed back and they still can’t handle their game properly.

SEA dungeon entries reset at 6 PM server/game time which is 3 pm pst or 6 pm est. In game though it specifically states on the dungeon info page that it resets at AM 6. I had to make two tickets to figure this out as it was screwing with my times when I got on. Honestly don’t know what I was expecting from a game that doesn’t allow you to delete friends.

Old game mechanics referencing the fact we have to wait outside dungeons to get in ques when in any modernized game you can queue anywhere, any time, and place as long as you’re not already in a “dungeon”. This is “old game mechanic” and largely only worked due to the lack of games out so you would have a 5 games that everyone played and you would be able to pull off the “lets make people wait outside the entry” because of how popular they were. This used to kind of be the case with ToS but with the dwindling population they can longer pursue their original intentions due to lack of player base. I thought it was easy to assume that based off what I said in the next sentence or two but it’s understandable if ToS is the only mmorpg you’ve ever played.

If all you took out of that post was the last part then I either made it to short or you’re missing something.

Edited the original post for cleaner and easier reading.

Have they? Just look at the forums. Imagine if you had a boss in your work that, for everything you did wrong, he bashed you and called you an incompetent. Would you improve? I suggest you to take a look in Nekorin’s threads where she points out the main problems in ToS and lists a few suggestions on how to improve those aspects.

I think you should make a separate topic to call the staff’s attention to that single matter, because if they didn’t fix that issue yet, only by making more noise in the forums they’ll put that in the “priority” list. Don’t forget to highlight the staff members and to ask people you know to post in that thread to support you.

Please stop with the passive aggressiveness. I asked you to be clearer in your post (thank you for editing it and making it easier to understand btw) and said that bashing the game and calling the devs incompetent isn’t helpful. They ignore us most of the times, even more when we use an offending tone.

Think you’re looking for a different word.

More anecdotal than anything. Out of the tens of games I’ve played I can name only one that still uses something similar to what I’ve described and it’s essentially a dead feature. It’s Mabinogi in case you were wondering.

So for me it’s understandable for you to not be able to assume what I’m talking about if ToS is the only mmorpg you’ve ever played.
