Tree of Savior Forum

PSA: Ladies and gents, a moment of your time, please

I hate having to say something that I know could provoke flame wars and drama, but I’m getting incredibly tired of having to constantly block the more ignorant speakers from world chat. I’m referring to the players who refuse to acknowledge freedom of speech.

Unless the game devs/publishers/PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY IN CHARGE say otherwise, players are free to communicate in whichever language they choose, be it English, Portuguese, Klingon, or the foul tongue of Mordor. You, the player, have NO right, and ZERO authority what-so-ever, to tell people which language they’re allowed to speak in chat. You want a place where people can ONLY speak your language? You have to EARN that place- if it’s really such a big issue to you, work towards getting a guild together and only invite people who speak YOUR language. Your easy way out is blocking the players who don’t speak your language, simple as that. Yes, there are a lot of players speaking in a variety of languages, so it might be hard to block them all- if it really bothers you, opt out of viewing world chat altogether unless you need to use it. At this point in time, seeing so many players trying to destroy other players’ freedom of speech is far more irritating to see in chat than messages in any given language.

REMEMBER: It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your mother tongue might be. The concept of “Freedom of speech” includes the freedom to speak whichever language you want. It is NOT the “Freedom to say whatever you want, as long as it’s in (and is 100% politically correct so no one gets offended).”

I’ve been seeing far too many hard headed players throwing out circular arguments in world chat about how their “side” is right, and as unfortunate as it is, that’s not likely to change, I know that. However, if you’ve actually been open minded enough to read this far, the next time you’re tempted to engage in useless arguments about who is right or wrong, or which language people are allowed to speak and why, take a minute to step back and look at the situation from a perspective other than your own before commenting on the issue. In time, maybe we CAN change. For better or for worse is up to us though.

We the players have the potential to make the Tree of Savior community a good one. Rejecting any and all people of differing backgrounds and cultures is not the way to do it.
This is a KOREAN made game involving LITHUANIAN mythology for Laima’s sake- it is NOT any sort of place to be spreading bigotry.

To the people in charge of ToS forums, it would be amazing to have this topic stickied so people can read it more often, thank you guys!

Are people really complaining about this?

Mind… Blown.

They are all begging for their own servers so its not going to be much of a international server anyway.

In the end were all going to be separated.

Gotta be hard 2just blockem and move on… /facepalm

Hahahah rly ppl getting mad cause of this? So funny this ppl. :joy:
The world is not only a box, always put that in mind, i’m free to use my leaguage (Portuguese) if i want. :kissing_closed_eyes:

And one thing, Orsha server has a lot of LA ppl, so why they need to speak english if most speak spanish and Portuguese? Makes no sense 4me :disappointed_relieved:

[/quote]Tolerance and benevolence are extinct characteristics.

Also the opposite is like a disease - once you get to read the arguments, even when you feel neutral or uncaring, you start to get heated up just reading the arguments >.<

Well said literally almost an hour of complaining about language of all things. Looking forward to making a guild for open mindedness and actual intelligent players. I couldn’t stand the community the day I signed up on the forums. It’s nuts how childish everyone is people need to grow up.

people are great at ignoring stuff other people say until it isn’t their language. then it becomes an issue somehow. What did they expect exactly in an international release HAHA
