Problems with Targeting System and Ways to Improve

Yes I know, it’s the same old QQ post about something. I’ve read some posts regarding the problem but not one providing a solution or feedback. I mean, as players we should know what we want right? As a kind of game that let’s you deal with large numbers of mobs, we should be fighting the monsters, not the system. Whether it be mouse mode or keyboard mode, each has its own problem especially for ranged characters.

I’m posting this so we could come up with at least a solution or provide a feedback on what we want to see changed.

The Problems:
As a C1 Sorcerer, I’ve been in situations that leave me scratching my head. Aside from the summon and pet AI being barely tolerable, they become more of a liability when dealing with groups of monsters.

Keyboard mode:
Target lock - isn’t it weird that instead of focusing on a target, it switches to a monster you are facing instead? This is unreliable when you have to kite mobs most of the time. Also, it shouldn’t focus on a pet/summon since 1) you can’t buff them and 2) there’s no purpose for targeting them except maybe in duels.

Another problem is that you are able to cast some of your skills on them like Joint Penalty (linker skill) on a pet/summon. I mean, WHY?? It is a waste of cooldown and mana. Not sure if the same goes for other skills or just a bug.

Target selection/cycling - cycles through mobs you see on the screen. Same as above, it shouldn’t cycle through pets/summons. Not sure how to improve this, should it prioritize low health? focus on closer targets?

Mouse mode:
Moving around - summons act like a “wall” meaning if you hold your mouse while running and you hover over the summon, the summon model will “block” the ground cursor. I understand this might be because bosses have the same property (wall). Sure, with 1 summon you might say it’s tolerable but when you have 3 sorcs in a party, it becomes a problem especially in dungeons. I’m able to pass through mobs and players, I should be able to pass through my summons as well.

Targeting (clicking) - mouse cursor changes to a dialog icon when hovering through other player’s pets (annoying in dungeons). This is unnecessary since, well, there’s no interaction really even if you click it and only annoying when trying to click a target. Same with summons, both should be untargetable except in duels.

I know the issues and provided solutions above are focused on Sorc class. This is because I have yet to play other classes to see other interactions with it. It is up to you guys to post the problems you are experiencing with the system while playing with your class and what you want to see changed! Also, sorry for my english!
